A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:

@Casino218 that sounds good in terms of your progress (sorry about your DH though), particularly making it through the day without having to go to bed.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 06:42

Day 39 @Casino218 i told my kids to make a paper chain when i got ill. And they could take a link off a day for a month and when that month was up, mummy would be better and we’d buy all the garden games they like. Im day 26 and no closer to well. They’re going to want those games and im going to be sat watching them still. I had no idea it would be like this Sad

godhelpusall · 17/04/2020 06:44

I have woken up feeling nauseous again. Once again I'm wondering if it's coming back, or changing shape (I was v nauseous earlier on but haven't been for some time). Or is it just anxiety? I feel like I'm going to spend the rest of my life doing this. Sorry to hear some of you still struggling so much, I have been (apart from mornings) feeling much better at 36 days (since about 32). Still not convinced it's completely gone though.

Casino218 · 17/04/2020 06:51

@TheDrsWife46 It's really awful not knowing isn't it. We are getting well though it's just little by little rather than a sudden 'well glad that's gone' kind of thing.

godhelpusall · 17/04/2020 06:57

@Casino218 I can't see me ever saying 'well glad that's gone' about this!

Countingsheeps · 17/04/2020 07:31

So sorry to see lots of people having dips at the moment, I think I’m joining you unfortunately... I had managed a few days sat up in the sun/ downstairs with the family but yesterday evening a huge wave of weakness came over me, with more tingling and it has stayed all night. Has anyone else had very heavy limbs? It is so hard doing anything at all.

Aozora13 · 17/04/2020 07:39

I’m so sorry for everyone suffering but in a weird way this thread is giving me comfort! I’m “only” on day 24 of unconfirmed covidy symptoms and was even back at work (remotely) part time when out of nowhere a couple of days ago the breathlessness really ramped up again and set me right back. But seems this kind of relapse isn’t unusual Sad

Casino218 · 17/04/2020 07:48

@Aozora13 There isn't much information for those people in the middle who aren't completely mild or critical so this is why we carry on posting as it's quite scary to keep having symptoms.

Standrewsschool · 17/04/2020 07:54

Day 33 - someone asked how was my breathlessness. Fortunately, had no breathing problems. Occasionally dizzy but breathing generally okay. I wonder if it the lack of breathing problems or the antibiotics that has helped me recover (touch wood - no relapse).

There are odd comments in the media about the cough taking a while to go, but nothing about feeling unwell for weeks on end.

Andromeida59 · 17/04/2020 07:58

@Casino218 this is why this forum has been so vital. I've been able to get an idea about what is normal and what might not be.

I know that due to it being such a novel virus, there isn't too much information out there but I wasn't expecting this little. Due to the government announcing that you only have to isolate for seven days if you have symptoms, this has portrayed the virus in the wrong way with those like us, concerned when their symptoms last for 20/30+ days.

Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 08:04

@TheDrsWife46 I am making progress. My cough is gone, I dont have a temperature anymore and chest pain and breathlessness is improving everyday. I am eating much more normally now..just cant eat big amounts as it triggers breathlessness.
The main symptoms now are extreme fatigue, weakness and feeling faint, a really bad sore throat and swollen glands. I'm still getting a lot of buzzing, palpitations, restless legs and twitchy muscles and am breathless up and down stairs etc, if I do too much I start to get chest pain again and feel hot and breathing gets worse. I can see progress from 2 weeks ago definitely, so am hoping by week 8 I'll be even further forward.

godhelpusall · 17/04/2020 08:06

@Tangledyarn I don't know too much about PVF or CFS but quite a lot of your symptoms sound similar to that. Was it you that had CFS?

godhelpusall · 17/04/2020 08:07

@Andromeida59 it is quite bad that we are having to rely on a forum like mumsnet to save our sanity. There must be loads of people out there who have no awareness that MN even exists.

Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 08:11

@godhelpusall Yeah think I am into PVF territory now (42 days today) Yeah have had ME for 20 years, I also have some other underlying conditions so am sure those things will be feeding into it taken me longer to recover too xx

Andromeida59 · 17/04/2020 08:14

@godhelpusall I agree. I'm the first occasion I relapsed, I asked DP to check on me during the night to see if I was still breathing because I felt so bad. Knowing about the relapses/nausea and sickness has helped me to better understand.

I do often find that large institutions are often far behind what individuals are doing. Not only in regard to the information on here but I was involved with a mutual aid group weeks prior to lockdown as were many others.

Meercatmama · 17/04/2020 08:53

Good morning
day 33 and had a disturbed night when I woke up coughing. This cough comes and goes. Had nothing all day then last night it appears again with some shortness of breath and aches in my back. Feel tired today but it could be because of the disturbed night. Going to try and go for a walk today and see how I feel and looking forward to a family quiz via zoom so want to feel better today.

TheWooisStrong · 17/04/2020 09:02

DH has got up, showered and gone back to bed, he’s very fatigued.
I feel OK at the moment, but with the sense I don’t have any real reserves of energy to do anything.
Another quiet day.

Egghead68 · 17/04/2020 09:18

Day 27/28. More breathless but more energy today. Managed to dress in leggings/T-shirt rather than the nightie I’ve been in all week AND I have put a wash on AND sorted my medication box. Feels like a lot of progress but I don’t trust it.

Kitcat122 · 17/04/2020 09:19

I'm 5 weeks today. Definitely feel improved. Chest pain and sob feels better yesterday and today but still just pottering around the house. Back to work part time Monday so will see how that goes. Saw an interview with Linda Lusardi - obviously she was very poorly and in hospital but she said she was still very breathless with low lung capacity so think it just takes time. Love to all x

Dorual · 17/04/2020 09:19

Sorry to hear most of you are struggling still.

Night time is particularly troublesome for me at the moment. I'm on alert checking the children's temps in the night anyway, but I seem to get insomnia every night. And I'm having chest aches and chills in the nights, sweats sometimes, and "the burn" we all know so well. Parts of my face felt numb in the night too, and a headache. Temp and o2 levels OK thank God.

Gunner30 · 17/04/2020 09:32

@SchrodingersKitty sorry to hear about your husband, wishing him a speedy recovery and hopefully you get some positive news back from the other test results and treatment plan.

@Tangledyarn glad you are starting to feel better, it does seem to take a long time and agree with @thedrswife46 that the lack of information is really unnerving .

After saying that I would rest yesterday, I decided to push myself a bit more and manged to cut the lawn and cut back some bushes. Doesn't sound much, but this seems like a big achievement given the last four weeks of breathing difficulties, fatigue and aches/pains.

Today (day 35) I feel pretty good, breathing still ok, but throat is still quite inflamed and I have slightly sore/stiff neck. However, really pleased that my exertions haven’t caused a third relapse, so thinking a gradually increase is probably sensible. Not needing a mid-afternoon nap now, so hoping I’m slowly managing to get back to some level of normality.

Hope everyone has a better day X

onlinelinda · 17/04/2020 09:34

Day 34.

Morning everyone. I feel sorry for every feeling so flat this morning. Glad to see you picking up Tanglyderm.

I dipped the day before yesterday, but I had a better day yesterday, including a 30 minute walk on the flat. Hoping for another good day.

I've been wondering why there is so little information on disease progress out of hospital too. It seems peculiar, as it's an obvious 'story.' Also why do we say in uk that it's a 7 day illness when other countries don't. From that video just posted it seems even us says 14 days.

Dorual · 17/04/2020 09:43

Agreed. People who do get it mild are probably going back to work still contagious. Even Chris Whitty and Matt Hancock looked rough and not yet better when they returned. Wonder if they're secretly struggling.

Egghead68 · 17/04/2020 09:52

Yes - from the press/government you’d think it’s either a 7-day mild flu or you end up hospitalised. We inbetweeners don’t seem to fit anyone’s narrative.

everythingisginandroses · 17/04/2020 09:55

My DH told me that Matt Hancock was back at work after 6 daysShock. Whether 6 or 7, I sincerely doubt he was fully recovered!
