A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

That's great, @TheWooisStrong! Day 33. Yesterday I removed a month's worth of dust from the living room surfaces instead of just looking at it and thinking about when I would remove it! I managed a full day WFH today. I am still tired and slightly hot at times, but chest is improving. There's a lot of scared posters trolling around elsewhere on this board, I feel fearless by comparison Grin Going out for a very short evening walk with DS now Smile

Moominmamma33 · 20/04/2020 19:51

@TheWooisStrong that's fab news well done! @Moodgie apparently so.. I haven't read the full results myself but had the "headlines" read out to me on phone. I did wonder if maybe she meant bacterial infections though as she confirmed it is now assumed to be Covid...do bacterial and viral responses show up differently in blood test results?

Moodgie · 20/04/2020 19:56

@moominmamma33 I think they can raise different things, depending on viral v bacterial. What symptoms have you still got?

Moominmamma33 · 20/04/2020 20:11

@Moodgie I've got a bit of breathlessness (worse yesterday than today), fatigue and raised temps, reflux stuff and occasionally muscle aches but these are better today. Tests were last Weds. Had every symptom going in day 1-10ish, breathlessness only started more recently (day 20 maybe..).

Moodgie · 20/04/2020 20:12

@Moominmamma33 Hope you are better soon, and all of us! Xx

Moominmamma33 · 20/04/2020 20:14

Thanks, you too, and everyone who's still affected xx

AnythingPecan · 20/04/2020 20:17

Hey. Day 34 here.
Main symptoms have subsided for now but for the last few days I've been having the sore throat pain with a lumpy feeling as if something is stuck. Had these symptoms early on but thought they had disappeared. Trying to burp to relieve the pressure. Am I going mad?

Moodgie · 20/04/2020 20:22

@anythingpecan Something stuck as in mucus? You are definitely not going mad.

AnythingPecan · 20/04/2020 20:23

@Moodgie not sure if it's mucus or not -just feels like food is stuck there?

stayathomegardener · 20/04/2020 20:27

@alittleprivacy thanks so much for the link to the Korean specialist Kim Woo Joo.

I watched his latest YouTube, 45 minutes and sub titled so not great with brain fog.

I found it worrying and reassuring in equal measure.

The following may be of interest.

Korea are testing, treating tracking and isolating all Covid cases.

10,400 cases
7,000 recovered
£3,700 still in treatment.

They have a figure of 6% for longer term infection which we seem to fall into.

He is confident we are not being reinfected but that the viral numbers are increasing when you overdo it.

Figures need to be under 3,000 viral particles for a negative test and during a flare up rise to 4/5,000 particles and then produce a positive test.

One good thing is they have seen zero new infections pass on from a flare up ( I'm so paranoid about my family)

He seems to think it is a case of supporting your body whilst your immune system wins the battle.

They have recorded the virus still being active in a patient after 52 days and he speaks of a cancer patient with very low immunity during the Mers/Sars? outbreak having an active virus for 5 months.

He is definitely one to watch.

fedupofbed · 20/04/2020 20:40

Great to hear that @TheWooisStrong and @everythingisginandroses are feeling better.

@Moominmamma33 that's really interesting that you're still showing those symptoms but no infection showed up... I guess that's heartening but frustrating? I'm looking forward to finding out what my test shows.

@AnythingPecan and @Moodgie yes I've had a funny swollen throat feeling too though not today. My main odd symptom of the day today though is a weird burning fluttery feeling in my sternum. You couldn't make it up!

fedupofbed · 20/04/2020 20:43

Thank you for summarising @stayathomegardener that's fascinating. I will have a look.

Dorual · 20/04/2020 20:47

@stayathomegardener thank you for relaying that. I know some people deteriorate after a struggle with the virus against their immune system. This usually happens between day 8-10. But if we're still not beating the virus at a later date, did he say anything about being at risk of deterioration longer?

AnythingPecan · 20/04/2020 20:51

Thanks @fedupofbed right now ginger and honey tea is my best friend.... only thing that seems to soothe my throat. I've had that burning feeling that you describe. Do you think it could be heart burn?

simplekindoflife · 20/04/2020 20:58

That's really interesting, thanks @stayathomegardener

@Moominmamma33 I'm surprised nothing showed up in your bloods... I wanted a blood test but my GP said there wasn't much point. Maybe she was right... I've asked for a chest X-ray though as my chest hurts so much.

UncomfortableBadger · 20/04/2020 21:00

Evening all

The whack-a-mole of symptoms is continuing on day 24-25 here - now moved onto blisters inside my nose. FUN!

Gunner30 · 20/04/2020 21:06

@TheWooisStrong and @everythingisginandroses that sounds really positive, long may it continue. I just wish it wasn't such a long road to recovery, but everyone on here has really helped me to stop doubting myself and my mental health. The more information we can offer/share is definitely helpful to build a picture of the many varying symptoms. I hope others start to improve soon and you all have a good night. thank again for all the support.

Tangledyarn · 20/04/2020 21:20

@UncomfortableBadger Weirdly I had a blister (or a coldsore) couldnt tell which inside my nose until a couple of days ago.

fedupofbed · 20/04/2020 21:25

Oo @UncomfortableBadger that sounds really painful.

@AnythingPecan yes it could be heartburn as I'm getting a lot of that too. I'll have some Gaviscon. I've been drinking loads of hot water, lemon and honey. Wanted to add ginger too but the food delivery swapped ginger for garlic and didn't fancy that!

onlinelinda · 20/04/2020 21:39

@Moominmamma33 are you saying you've had it twice?

LetsBeSensible · 20/04/2020 22:00

@stayathomegardener thank you for that, so interesting. I like the idea of my body still fighting the dregs of the virus. Imagining my pains are caused by tiny white-cell boats launching into battle!

Oh I’ve had the cold sore too.

user34254356 · 20/04/2020 22:04

@baroqueandblue wow that is an impressive walk!! I definitely can't walk that much as yet but feel i am getting stronger and able to do more around the house and staying out of bed for longer which is a start!

I find mornings the worst as well, i get better through the day and in fact before bedtime i am my chattiest and more "normal/recovered". Then it starts all over again the next day

godhelpusall · 20/04/2020 22:14

Anything from @TheDrsWife46 today?

Lightsabre · 20/04/2020 22:19

@AnythingPecan, I've had the lumpy, sore throat all the way through which hasn't developed into a proper cough. Today, on Day 23, I have a new, burning pain down my throat/windpipe and am experiencing chest pains. Sats and BP normal and I'm on Day 3 of antibiotics. Still worried - i'd like some respite from the worry. I felt stronger yesterday too.

onlinelinda · 20/04/2020 22:28

@godhelpusall , she was definitely on here this morning.
