A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

Blimey. Cheers for that @stayathomegardener (I think!). I don’t quite have the guts to watch it now but will have a look tomorrow. It sounds like it may provide us some answers as to why this is dragging out for so long for all of us. We are the 6%. I must admit my initial thought was exactly the same as @Dorual’s question above. Also if they’ve clocked someone with active virus at 54 days the thought of two more weeks of this (or maybe more) doesn’t leave me overjoyed! Yesterday and today were two of the roughest days I’ve had so far.

As with this whole thing I suppose the only thing we can do is stay positive and just do the best we can for our immune system. The amount of pills and supplements I’m now taking is quite something! Vit D, vit C, multivitamins, paracetamol, Clarithromycin, Calms and got some NAC stuff arriving in the post in a day or two. Also given up wheat, sugar, coffee and alcohol (basically all the good stuff) and eating as much of what the internet says is anti-inflammatory as possible. I just hope my poor aching lungs come out the other side without too much damage. My Gp has been great, they sorted me out with a chest x-ray today and should have the results back tomorrow so at least this might give me some idea. Blood test scheduled Wednesday.

If the 6% figure is accurate here in the U.K. too (and indeed worldwide) there’s a lot of people out there in the same boat but without the knowledge that they aren’t alone. Scary stuff. All I can say is Thank god I found this thread. Wishing everyone as restful a night as possible. Thanks so much for all your posts.

@onlinelinda No, just once continually! I felt better for a few days then started with breathlessness and fatigue which I think (and one of the two GPs I spoke to last week also thinks) is a second wave of symptoms, as I got run down doing too much exercise and not sleeping enough once I felt I had "recovered"..
The other GP thinks I have it now for the first time and that what I first had was just any old virus. Seems highly improbable since we were all ill in the household then, and just me now, I had all the symptoms then including loss of smell and taste etc, also I have not been anywhere to catch it from anyone since we started isolating. None of us has even been out to a shop. Sorry if this sounded confusing! @simplekindoflife @fedupofbed I think my GPs were ruling out any other causes like bacterial pneumonia, anaemia and blood clots. Was kind of a relief yes that it's not anything else awful, but also very frustrating to not actually get any answers..also if I'm so healthy apparently, why is my immune system not kicking out this bug yet?!

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 22:53

@godhelpusall thankyou for asking after me. Ive been to A&E but ive taken a tablet to sleep and try to recover a bit. I’ll be back to update but please please no-one be scared to attend A&E is not covid nightmare. They were amazing x

onlinelinda · 20/04/2020 22:55

I'm sure you're right. A week or more ago I spoke with a GP who had spent 6 weeks taking calls from covid patients and who said that there was a spectrum from 0 days to several weeks.

baroqueandblue · 20/04/2020 22:56

@user34254356 actually it was probably more like just 1km but I was so intoxicated with the sensation of being out in the sunshine and actually walking around that I probably lost all sense of proportion Grin I'd taken cocodamol before I went out, so that helped. But you'll get there, probaby sooner than you think. Some days recently I've managed to (very slowly and with lots of telly breaks) get some stuff done around the flat for the first time in weeks. But then the next day I'm barely able to get out of bed/off the sofa. Madness. I've perked up since I posted this afternoon in fact - less pain, and haven't taken anything for it since before going out this morning. I feel quite buoyant this evening, but I'm aware tomorrow I could wake up to a very different story. But presumably, at day 35+, it won't be like this for too much longer.

Really hope we both get a better start to our days tomorrow morning Flowers

onlinelinda · 20/04/2020 22:56

Good to hear @TheDrsWife46. Sleep more! It'll do you good.

Lightsabre · 20/04/2020 22:57

@WorriesomeDad, how did you manage to get a chest X-ray and bloods please?

baroqueandblue · 20/04/2020 23:00

@TheDrsWife46 I'm delighted and relieved to hear that you've been seen and they're doing something to help you get through this at last. Really good to know you felt supported there, sounds like it has brought you some peace. Sweet dreams Star

OneDayAtATime123 · 20/04/2020 23:02

Here is an excellent twitter feed of a doctor who posted scans of his lungs during and post-recovery. It took him 21 days after recovery ( 3 weeks ) to see his lungs heal . So that was a total of 42 days at-least.

godhelpusall · 20/04/2020 23:03

Good to hear @@TheDrsWife46

Tangledyarn · 20/04/2020 23:09

I'd be so interested to see my lungs, I mean they are recovering but slowly presumably as still have chest pain, tight chest and shortness of breath and its 45 days now.

Dorual · 20/04/2020 23:58

Having a wobble.

All there is, is bad news, everywhere. Is there any light?

WorriesomeDad · 21/04/2020 00:37

Wobbling away here too. Lots of symptoms coming back tonight that haven’t been here for a while. Horrible falling sensation and swoopy tingling in chest. sleep feels a very long way off.

WorriesomeDad · 21/04/2020 05:29

@Lightsabre was just honest with gp about the level of discomfort I’m in. The fact that I’ve been coughing up blood probably swung it too.

Egghead68 · 21/04/2020 05:53

I am glad you had a good experience in A&E @TheDrsWife46.

Sorry you are feeling so rough @WorriesomeDad. I hope you got some sleep in the end.

Day 31/32 and I feel bad saying this when people are suffering but I have had a few good days in a row now, particularly yesterday when I managed half an hour of housework for the first time. I have woken up feeling fine so far. I don’t dare hope that this may be the end of it but I’m definitely enjoying feeling more normal for now.

Egghead68 · 21/04/2020 06:02

@Dorual I think loads of us are feeling like that. This too shall pass. If I want cheering up I just remember that Dominic Cummings caught this too (but you are probably all much less mean-spirited about him than me!)

fedupofbed · 21/04/2020 06:53

@Egghead68 please don't feel bad about feeling better... you are giving us hope! I hope your recovery continues.

Egghead68 · 21/04/2020 06:54

Thanks @fedupofbed. I hope you have a better day today too.

simplekindoflife · 21/04/2020 08:27

I like the idea of my body still fighting the dregs of the virus. Imagining my pains are caused by tiny white-cell boats launching into battle!

Love this!

Got my chest X-ray this morning! First time going out in almost 4 weeks! Confused the clinic has requested I wear a mask but I haven't got one. My DH has just dug out his building mask he uses for cutting wood, etc. It will have to do.

Lightsabre · 21/04/2020 08:41

Glad to hear some of you are getting X-rays and further medical intervention. I'm on Day 24 and am getting chest pains and a sort of raw windpipe/bronchial feeling as well as the searing back pain still. Left ear/throat pain during the night too. Could this be a dip? Can a virus last this long? Would love to know if I'm post viral but it doesn't seem like it.
I'm waiting it out until Thursday but will be calling my GP then to insist on further investigation.

Egghead68 · 21/04/2020 08:55

I think a lot of us on the thread were getting those symptoms at dat 24 @Lightsabre. There is some debate as to whether they are viral or post-viral. All I know is that I felt qualitatively different from around day 28 or 29 - I am still fatigued but not really suffering from the other symptoms any more (fingers crossed). It is my (ignorant) hunch that they were viral until then.

Lightsabre · 21/04/2020 09:02

Thanks for the reply @Egghead68 - it gives me hope that things will get better. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I wish I'd looked after myself a bit better before this virus. I just hope there are no lasting complications.

alittleprivacy · 21/04/2020 09:03

I've a had another two rotten nights sleep with constant nightsweats. These tend to be more related to my period though as I've been having them during my period for the last few months. This month and last month, when I started getting sick have been worse. I'm up maybe four times a nights having to get changed out of soaked pjs. Other than feeling completely and utterly shattered, I feel a bit better. I was breathing in bed this morning and there was no effort involved in taking a big lung full. It's not so good since I got up, but still a step in the right direction.

I've been upping my walking. I actually hit over 9000 steps yesterday which is amazing compared to the last 5-6 weeks. I'm going to take a planned approach to easing back into fitness. I know now that several days of feeling perfect can be misleading, so I won't plunge into normal as soon as I next feel good. I've found a guy on facebook who is a trainer/fitness professional who is putting up videos of his own workouts as he recovers from a severe corona infections and pneumonia. It might actually be an idea to start a thread about rehabilitation exercises/careful steps back to normal life?

Crayfishforyou · 21/04/2020 09:54

@alittleprivacy
Who is the trainer please? I'm not there yet but I want to get back to my pole dancing when I can, and I will need build up sessions for a few weeks beforehand.
Day 22
Sweaty night but no palpitations, I didn't have to take paracetamol.
Chest pains and a bit dizzy today but I had no issues showering. My cough has ramped up and it feels like fire everytime I do it.
Even dips aside, I am beginning tonight get stronger. The climb is so slow I don't realise how far I've come.
This could all change in the next few hours however
