@Tangledyarn i know its the dead of night and easier to panic but im truly worried that im going to end up paralysed. Pain in my spine, weakness in my legs is worsening. But im also petrified to go to hospital right now. My limbs just tremor, pain in lower spine, barely feel my legs....and then the buzzing.

Tangledyarn · 15/04/2020 04:47

I know it's so scary, but I really dont think theres any reason to think you will need hospital or end up paralysed. Our minds take us to really dark places. Try and remember how you felt a week ago when you were really struggling, you felt like you couldnt cope and were dangerously ill and how you've come through all that and had much better times in between when you've been able to reassure people in the same way. Its just a really bad night :( and we know enough by now that this stupid illness comes with loads of ups and downs on the way to getting better.
I can hear the birds singing already so you have nearly made it to the morning Flowers

onlinelinda · 15/04/2020 04:50

I don't think you will end up paralysed Tanglyderm. It'll pass.

Tangledyarn · 15/04/2020 05:00

@onlinelinda Its @TheDrsWife46 that's worried..i forgot to tag her xx

TheDrsWife46 · 15/04/2020 05:10

@Tangledyarn im worried of got something like guillian barre or something after such a significant virus. My breathing is definitely better but the weakness in my body is getting progressively worse. The thing is we all know that unless your breathing the doctors dont want to look at us.

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 05:50

How are you now @TheDrsWife46?

Casino218 · 15/04/2020 05:59

@fuggyfush I've read these post viral symptoms can rattle on forever. This is what worries me now. I'm about day 37 and still getting twinges and pains here and there. DH started spiking temps again few days ago but he's been in to a\e and chest clear, bloods fine etc. What help can we get for these post viral symptoms now?

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 06:07

@Shrubbish yes I had a weird nasty taste early on. Not exactly metallic, a bit like crushed paracetamol. It made everything taste vile but passed quite quickly.

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 06:12

@fuggyfush OMG 57 days. I keep comforting myself that I will feel normal by 8 weeks (am on day 25/26) but maybe not. I hope your remain

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 06:12

Ing symptoms go soon.

Tangledyarn · 15/04/2020 07:12

@Casino218 I think with post viral stuff it's just time and rest. Theres not any treatment that's going to change things unfortunately.

FabulouslyElegantTits · 15/04/2020 07:28

Day 22 here. The fatigue is SHOCKING, the diarrhoea and nausea reappeared yesterday, I seem to have a reasonably good day and then pay for it the next day.

Someone said it was two steps forward and one step back, this would describe how I'm feeling

Nice (but not nice) to see some familiar faces @onlinelinda @Tangledyarn and @DrsWife46

@Shrubbish, not a metallic taste but a 'sweet' taste. Some things taste normal some taste really odd, eg coffee tastes absolutely vile.

It was mentioned yesterday in the news about a 'buzzing' sensation. I'm sure I mentioned it on here but in about day 4 when I was feeling spectacularly unwell, I sat up in bed and a had a muffled buzzing sensation in my head - and then my sense of smell went, it was literally like flicking a switch off!

Keep the faith folks, I know it's frustrating but I've read that 2-6wks for recovery is 'normal' after an aggressive virus 🦠 ... so hang tight

stayathomegardener · 15/04/2020 07:56

@Shrubbish I've not had that personally but it comes up fairly frequently.

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 07:58

Think I might ring the gp about dd today. I need some reassurance or something.

Countingsheeps · 15/04/2020 08:13

Hello everyone, I’m currently on day 24ish and am so glad I have found these threads. Thank you so much for keeping me going- I was feeling so alone before!

Everyone else in my household had very high temperatures and coughs and were really ill for 3-5 days and then they recovered.... I have only recorded a temp of 37.7 max, but have crushing tiredness where I can’t do anything more than lie down and am getting the buzzing/ tingling sensations in waves. I have had a slight cough throughout, although it seems to be getting better now- a little positive to cling on to! I also seem to have recurring sore boobs?! I feel very lucky that my breathing seems to have been ok- I think for me, any breathlessness has been down to anxiety which I suffered with years ago, but has definitely reappeared in the last few weeks.

Hoping you all got some rest last night, I am finding nights the hardest bit at the moment the tingling keeps me awake and feeds my anxiety!

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 08:28

Hi @Countingsheeps - it's an absolute boon having this group! I have had similar to you, Im in day 35 and am feeling much better although always fear a set back.

Both children have tummy aches and are off their food now, they have been up and down for nearly 4 weeks. Fortunately no breathing issues, but still a worry.

mumlurker · 15/04/2020 08:34

@TheDrsWife46

Hope you managed to get some sleep in the end. I can definately relate to being kept awake worrying about all the weird sensations in my body. Frustrating because although during the day I feel like I have a grip on them, I'm getting too anxious to sleep properly at night. I had extreme fatigue a few days ago, maybe you're heading into a phase like that now? That at least seems to have lifted for me but at the time it felt so permenant...

Countingsheeps · 15/04/2020 08:42

@godhelpusall I just can’t get my head around how different the symptoms are between people. It’s great to hear that you are getting back to normal though- it gives me hope that it may not last forever! My children seem to have recovered with no issues other than a cough at night for the just turned 2 year old. I hope your children are better soon, it’s so hard when children are ill and you don’t really have any answers.

mumlurker · 15/04/2020 08:44

@godhelpusall

I probably ask this question whenever anyone mentions feeling even the slightest bit better, but when do you think you turned a corner? I'm two days behind you and feeling better in some ways but worse in others, hoping I turn a corner soon.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 15/04/2020 08:45

Morning!

Day 29: still coughing up a lung, but had a good nights sleep.
*
onlinelinda* so great to hear how much better you are. You have a lung condition don't you? Gives me hope Daffodil

godhelpusall is DD worse? Definitely phone the GP. Mine was very reassuring & helpful when I phoned about ds.

Hoping for a better day today. 🤞

WorriesomeDad · 15/04/2020 08:47

Hi folks hope everyone had a bearable night. @TheDrsWife46 I don’t think you’ll end up paralysed. So many of us had such strange scary sensations like you are describing and they did pass.

Day 34/5 ish. Can I ask a question? Some of my symptoms have faded and I feel a bit better in myself but particularly the last two mornings I’ve woken up with a really tight chest and my cough has got a lot worse. I’ve just got such an urge to cough up all the crap in my lungs but nothing shifts and it’s getting quite uncomfortable. Did anyone else get this late on? Don’t know if it’s a good or a bad sign. @JackJackincredible might know?

TheDrsWife46 · 15/04/2020 09:00

Morning everyone please excuse me if i dont name check as im knackered and have to scroll back and forth through my phone.

I managed to sleep again from 4.30-8.00. Moved to the sofa and still have a burning sensation in my spine (where my epidural was sited with babies if that makes any difference) my legs are extremely weak and if i hug my limbs into myself they tremble like when u hold heavy shopping too long. If this was any other time i’d be asking for a neurology assessment, my dad died of mnd, so to feel neurological sensations is of course scaring me. But im also then mindful that if its affecting me neurologically i should seek help.
I just do not want to venture into a hospital and a lumber puncture etc in my spine thats already burning etc.

Sorry to anyone whose children are ill, my dd1 had it over two weeks and her mild case upset me more than my own experience. I found the GP keen for me to call for her than myself. But having the oximeter etc all helped me manage dd better as we could see she was coping

Dorual · 15/04/2020 09:20

@theDrsWife

That sounds horrible. I'd try having a relaxing bath and downloading some relaxation thing. I've got a cheesy Paul McKenna hypnosis cd I listen to as I fall asleep.

You could also try progressive muscle relaxation. Really zone out and tense each muscle in order. I do each muscle 3 times each. Google the technique.

I have had bad muscle twitches and jerks in my limbs that make me kick out involuntarily, and it's terrifying. So I understand the fear.

My chest is on fire. Might have a hot shower for the steam.

TheDrsWife46 · 15/04/2020 09:31

@Dorual yes ive had those jerky movements too. Especially when falling asleep. I’ll look at the progressive muscle relaxation thing. Thankyou xx

Kitcat122 · 15/04/2020 09:32

@WorrisomeDad I am the same. Still have shortness of breath but my lung pain has slightly changed and I feel like I need to cough up thick gunk but nothing comes up. Let's hope this is the beginning of the end. In a good way!!! 🤣🤣
