OP sadly as numerous threads testify, the prevailing orthodoxy on MN is that we are doomed and must look forward to ever increasing punishment forever.
You won't find any positive vibes here.

I don’t think it’s a forever situation. I think though we haven’t peaked yet and the additional hospitals aren’t complete so until we know whether the nhs can cope we will remain in lockdown. The goal is to protect the NHS and save as many lives as possible.

Now Boris is in intensive care, then Probably not likely. 😢 I think people are adjusting and there is not alot else we can do, we shall all be used to it in the next few weeks and then we will be stressing when everything goes back to sort of Normality 2021 will be even more crazy cramming in everyone’s concert tours, sporting events and going out again. Recruitment will be manic and new niche markets will open. When the children go back to school as well, will be wired. We are gearing ourselves up for September..😄

Massive thanks to the people here and on other threads trying to prevent runaway dooms mongers being believed ?

Do you want the truth or something beautiful @midgebabe?

Report
midgebabe · 07/04/2020 15:56

I want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth

The whole, complicated, messy truth
Not fiction and lies
Or the worst case dressed up as inevitable

You mean people who are realistic rather than those living in la-la land??

International travel is a whole different thing than relaxing lockdown and allowing people to see family and friends

Does anyone know about Ryanair? I have flights booked with them to France early June

What does their website say? Afaik, all airlines have banners giving info about what to do.

At least six weeks. Hopefully they can relax some things then.

Schools I don't think will be back until September. however if they are expecting another peak then? Who knows.

They may be able to lock down certain areas of the country? If there are localised peaks/ cases

Spain now on lockdown till 11 May

Rosebel · 10/04/2020 11:15

But all the people saying worse case scenarios you don't know lockdown will last months and months. We don't know if lockdown will end in 6 weeks.
I think it can't be months and months because how will country survive? On the other hand until we hit the peak we won't get any answers. Also from everything I have seen on here we all want the country to go back to normal but no-one wants to be the first group to go back to work.

I think we're end of June at the earliest but some stuff might be allowed to move forward. I noticed there's a lot more activity on building sites again in the last few days, including starting completely new road works near me. Based on the amount of people out in the park this morning we're going to do ourselves no favours this weekend.

There was a section on the news yday where many low paid workers in Italy were literally down to their last few euros.

There are plenty of people in normal times who are routinely down to their last few pounds!

I just don’t know how getting out of this lockdown will change anything. Surely we are all just being fed to the wolves at that point ?

Report
Mascotte · 10/04/2020 22:05

Yes but @Reallyneedhelp we can’t stay home with no work or school forever. The virus is going to be here now.
