@Firef1y72 I agree with you.

Sapphiresunrise · 05/04/2020 18:52

Someone is casually saying '3 more months of lockdown' like it's no big deal. If that happens, some people will commit suicide, or die for other potentially preventable reasons, I am telling you now.

480Widdio · 05/04/2020 18:53

They cannot extend the lockdown for three months! People have no income! You can’t live on fresh air!

They need to get on with antibody testing instead of piddling about with shutting everything down! China says 4out of 5 people are asymptotic.

So get the antibody test sorted.

Toomboom · 05/04/2020 18:53

No

Harls1969 · 05/04/2020 18:53

Not a chance. I reckon that they'll say a further 3 weeks and even then I don't think that will be it. There will surely be a phased return to 'normal'. It won't be for a while though

HoffiCoffi13 · 05/04/2020 18:53

apologies Sapphiresunrise I think I misunderstood you!

Kazzyhoward · 05/04/2020 19:15

If that happens, some people will commit suicide, or die for other potentially preventable reasons, I am telling you now.

People are already dying of other conditions. GPs and hospitals have virtually shut down for treatment of anything other than Covid. In our local hospital, the oncology dept has completely shut down, so no treatment for cancer patients at all.

HoffiCoffi13 · 05/04/2020 19:19

But not ‘locking down’ and therefore letting CV rampage through the population wouldn’t lead to oncology departments functioning as normal. Unless the policy would be to not admit CV patients to hospital and let them all die at home?
These services would be closing regardless of whether we lockdown or not. COVID19 is the cause of hospitals being overwhelmed, not lockdown. Easing the restrictions wouldn’t mean that all of a sudden other NHS procedures could go ahead.

thenovice · 05/04/2020 20:29

No I don't

EmpressoftheMundane · 05/04/2020 20:30

No

OxanaVorontsova · 05/04/2020 20:46

not a chance, not before June at earliest

ToftyAC · 05/04/2020 20:46

Tee were due to get married next month. We’ve been told to pick a few new dates after September as things are unlikely to be able to go ahead before then.

ToftyAC · 05/04/2020 20:46

Tee???? We (fgs)

skyblu · 05/04/2020 20:56

No.
If we’re very lucky (& if people stop pushing it with the going out!) then maybe mid May at earliest....

AdoreTheBeach · 05/04/2020 21:29

No. Either will go on longer or will be complete lock down and go in longer.

Rachel709 · 05/04/2020 21:48

No.

BlackandWhiteCat0 · 05/04/2020 21:50

No, hotels here are closed until June!

riceuten · 05/04/2020 22:12

Absolutely not.

I work for an LA with 100 plus schools and we are planning that the lockdown will end ca 1.9.2020.

Let's be clear that the lockdown won't end all in one go, but restrictions will be lifted sector by sector, over a range of activities

riceuten · 05/04/2020 22:14

So get the antibody test sorted

You need to speak to the government about that. The government who've consistently lied throughout this whole affair

riceuten · 05/04/2020 22:16

Someone is casually saying '3 more months of lockdown' like it's no big deal

If that's what it takes to stop millions of people dying, that's what we need to do. If you honestly think things will go back to normal straight after stopping lock down in a week or two, you need to think again.

Dowser · 05/04/2020 22:18

Yes definitely.

( err no)

Rosebel · 05/04/2020 22:21

I'm not 100% convinced the antibody test is going to help. Yes it'll tell you if you've got it at that point but what if you pick it up the following day? Some people will test negative and then go out being stupid because they think they're "safe."

Sandytoesfrecklednose · 05/04/2020 22:23

No. Because we’ll be heading to the predicted peak. And some people are idiots who think they don’t need to follow guidance at all.

MarshaBradyo · 05/04/2020 22:26

Rosebel the antibody test is to tell you you’ve had it, rather than got it. Two issues though, they have found one that works and no one is certain how long immunity lasts for. In theory it’s a good way forward other than that.

Leontine · 05/04/2020 22:45

I reckon they’re gonna extend it to 30th April (initially) to fall in line with the US, then extend it again.
