Are people still ordering takeaway?

Just wondering how many of you are still ordering takeaways? DP really fancies a pizza tonight but I'm a bit weary of ordering just in case.

Am I worrying over nothing? Sorry, I know it's a first world problem.

Yes. It's fine.

MsTSwift · 03/04/2020 14:36

Wary. Sorry there was a thread on it.
Weary - tired
Wary - suspicious and uncertain

StrangerDays · 03/04/2020 14:38

@MsTSwift there's no need to be a dickwad, it's clear what the OP meant.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 03/04/2020 14:39

Plenty of places still open but I would imagine takeaways is one of the first things cut to save money whilst lots of people are on a reduced wage

Mysocalledlifexx · 03/04/2020 14:40

No we havent ,i doubt its 100% safe just now ,my DH is a chef and he wont eat a take away just now

Fudgewhizz · 03/04/2020 14:40

Safety wise you’re fine - advice here www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-52040138

MarginalGain · 03/04/2020 14:41

Jeez swift that was bitchy in the extreme.

DonnaDarko · 03/04/2020 14:41

We have had 2 takeaways since the lockdown. Not everyone is still open , though, so we've had to go with a couple of places we've never used. The first one did not pay off lol.

They should leave it by your door and then step back to maintain social distance.

TheReelSlimShady · 03/04/2020 14:42

@MsTSwift there's no need to be a dickwad, it's clear what the OP meant.

Seconded! Back in your cage!

OP, yes, takeaways are fine but take precautions. Pay online, most takeaways are now leaving the food at the door, take food out of packaging, heat up in oven if needbe, and then wash your hands before eating.

Oh and most of all, enjoy!

MrsG010814 · 03/04/2020 14:43

Totally fine op, a lot of them are offering contactless delivery etc and it's supporting local business which is important at the moment.

starsinyourpies · 03/04/2020 14:43

Fish and chips tonight here! Contactless delivery on the doorstep.

LegoBloodyHurts · 03/04/2020 14:44

No. I’m feeling a bit paranoid about the risk of the person making it had it.

Rosehip10 · 03/04/2020 14:44

In London it mostly seems to be the more "dodgy" pizza/chicken/kebab places that are still open and delivering on uber/deliveroo.

SallyWD · 03/04/2020 14:45

I haven't yet but think I will. It's a good way to support local restaurants who are struggling.

Rosehip10 · 03/04/2020 14:46

@MsTSwift Biscuit

ClinkyMonkey · 03/04/2020 14:47

Aw, come on. Can we dispense with the snarky spelling and grammar advice while there's an effing world catastrophe unfolding? Bloody hell fire.

GreyGardens88 · 03/04/2020 14:47

Yes I had one a couple of days ago

Enchantmentz · 03/04/2020 14:48

I did for my birthday but won't in future as it was 2hrs late, not really their fault as they are one of only 3 takeaways open in my town during this time. Minimal risk but a risk all the same.

Lilmisskittykat · 03/04/2020 14:49

Still ordering take away... keeping those businesses with a cash flow is a good thing I think

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 03/04/2020 14:52

Yep, it's a once a week treat for us. Gotta have something to look forward to and I'm sick of bloody cooking!

HandonHeart2019 · 03/04/2020 14:52

Thank you all! Just to say you have made me DP's day Grin Pizza for tea tonight then!

Cissyandflora · 03/04/2020 14:54

Wary. Yes I’d be wary. There’s no way I would buy a takeaway at the moment but then I’m very paranoid about food others prepare anyway. It’s probably fine and I know I’m overly cautious. I just couldn’t enjoy it. I’m lucky that I’m a very good pizza maker myself.

fairydustandpixies · 03/04/2020 14:58

I had the craziest craving for pizza at 4am this morning. I don't normally eat pizza at all but I went online as 12noon exactly as soon as the local takeaway opened and ordered one. And oh my goodness...the best food ever!!! They left it on my door step and stepped way back into the road whilst I opened the door. All fine! Enjoy it, OP!

organisedmother · 03/04/2020 15:00

Ewww hell no, there is a time for takeaways and it’s not when there is a pandemic of a virus that can spread buy a single droplet Shock

Laiste · 03/04/2020 15:00

We had fish and chips last friday and will probably have a dominos tomorrow. You pay online and they leave the food on the doorstep.

Our village has a fantastic fish and chip which is delivering. Same bloke who always delivers. Just now in gloves. Rings bell backs off and leaves your food for you to take in. Then you put the money on the doorstep for him. (he did suggest posting the chips through the letterbox one at a time for us Grin nice to share a laugh about it tbh)
