Are people still ordering takeaway?

Just wondering how many of you are still ordering takeaways? DP really fancies a pizza tonight but I'm a bit weary of ordering just in case.

Am I worrying over nothing? Sorry, I know it's a first world problem.

Why not open any post, throw away or shred the envelopes and then wash your hands?

Rocketmam · 03/04/2020 17:57

We never have any letters that are that urgent. Grin

Mulanlin · 03/04/2020 17:57

I wouldn’t risk it

PineappleDanish · 03/04/2020 17:58

Yes, we're still ordering takeaway. Supporting local businesses by keeping them going. Last night we had an Indian, excellent chicken saag it was too.

Butternutbrownie · 03/04/2020 18:13

I love that the new catchphrase for us lazy fatties is 'It's not that I can't be arsed to cook, I'm actually 'supporting local businesses.''

Take aways are now a virtuous thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣

AwfulSomething · 03/04/2020 18:17

I will still order the odd takeaway, frontline worker with minimal ppe so more exposed at work!

Pishposhpashy · 03/04/2020 18:18

Butternutbrownie too right Grin

BigSandyBalls2015 · 03/04/2020 18:24

I think it’s a nice treat in this current situation and you could drive yourself completely mad over thinking the ‘what ifs’

JustDanceAddict · 03/04/2020 18:27

Yes we have, twice.

TheSexFaceOfEddieRoxy · 03/04/2020 18:29

I'd order a Chinese without hesitation but there aren't any open here. We can get fish& chips or kebabs. I don't fancy F&C and I'm swerving kebabs as they are the most handled, just to be on the safe side.

Cornettoninja · 03/04/2020 18:33

We have. All contactless and just decant, discard packaging and wash your hands.

Food is really enjoyed in this house and it’s definitely a mood lifter. I’m debating trying out the local gastro pub that’s moved to take aways. They’re obviously desperate to keep going and are selling groceries too at the moment.

Riv12345 · 03/04/2020 18:45

If the food is hot enough it wnt live on the food if it is contaminated

Stop scare mungaring!!!

It's hard enough as it is without saying negative things!!!

We don't need it

Crabbo · 03/04/2020 18:50

Yup, all takeaways near us still open (east London). Friday night takeaway night Smile

Randomschoolworker19 · 03/04/2020 18:52

I haven't but then I'm trying to cut down my contact with everyone pretty much.

I only leave my home to go shopping or to work and no one comes back into my apartment apart from myself. Any items brought back are washed down.

I have a decontamination coffee table near my front door where I clean things like my wallet, car keys, ID badge etc and that's where they stay.

Also, soon as I get home I strip and put all my clothing in a bin bag which is then taken to the washer for cleaning and then I hop into the shower.

It's a lot of precautions, but by doing this I know my apartment is safe and then I don't need to worry about subconsciously touching my face etc.

I work in a school with NHS kids though so it only seems sensible. In fact our working guidelines now recommend we do the above so I'm glad I've been doing them for awhile.

Lynda07 · 03/04/2020 18:53

I haven't this week but up until then, I did order takeaways on a few occasion when I fancied something. Yum. A lot of places are still doing deliveries.

Notcoolmum · 03/04/2020 18:54

Me and the kids tucking into a Pizza Hut. All contactless. Delivery driver wore a mask. Rang me to say he was here. Moved away before I answered the door. I decanted onto pizza boards and plates. Washed my hands and we are enjoying a treat to mark the start of the Easter holiday.

RunsForGummyBears · 03/04/2020 18:55

Must be, there's a queue for Domino's

Are people still ordering takeaway?
Sonichu · 03/04/2020 18:58

Waiting on one being delivered right now as it's one of the few pleasures I have left. People on MN are weird about food at the best of times anyway!

Bouncingbomb · 03/04/2020 19:02

No I’m not but then I am vulnerable and have only been out once to collect some files from work in the last three weeks.

I too am leaving post/parcels before I open them.

I have got a good shop due on 20th April and have had an essential haematology appt cancelled, no plans to go out at all.

It’s a risk I don’t need. I have a very dear friend in ICU with COVID at the minute. Very healthy usually.

Bouncingbomb · 03/04/2020 19:03

Food shop that should be!

Autumnwindinthewillows · 03/04/2020 19:05

I am - doing my best to help local businesses as thankfully still working. They put them on the wall and retreat and I collect.
But then I am not one of the people bleaching their post or shopping so others may prefer not to

Genopy · 03/04/2020 19:07

Personally no. I cannot guarantee the people who are making my foods personal hygiene. I cannot risk it.

TheReelSlimShady · 03/04/2020 19:09

I was going to order takeaway but the one I normally go to is now closed and the other options aren't as good.

Doing my Daily Fail sad face right now

CendrillonSings · 03/04/2020 19:10

Personally no. I cannot guarantee the people who are making my foods personal hygiene. I cannot risk it.

Agreed. I wouldn’t mind the occasional takeaway delivery, but somehow the pleasure doesn’t seem worth the potential pain.

Fleamaker123 · 03/04/2020 19:11

Nope no takeaways here, it's an unnecessary extra risk. And I really wouldn't 'heat up' a takeaway! A sure way to food poisoning!!
