Could this be the end of the Royal family?

I don't mean if they die of the virus...

But there's nothing like a lockdown to really highlight inequality. I saw an article yesterday about Kate + William "isolating" at Anmer Hall, having done a photoshoot where they pretend to be on the telephone and writing ("working").

I think if people are going to have to spend months at home, in small flats with kids, still going out to work or trying to WFH, queueing for supermarkets with empty shelves......that could definitely breed some discontent. Or if people catch it and have to be treated in makeshift hospitals, not getting an ambulance until they're struggling to breathe, while the RF can be whisked away to a private hospital for treatment. I've already seen a lot of comments along the lines of "why don't they offer up their many palaces to be used as hospitals, rather than doing newspaper articles".

Opinions?

Livingtothefull - Lots of wealthy individuals do donate generously to charities, they just don't feel the need to boast about it!

audreysview · 03/04/2020 14:04

mamamia You can guarantee it would be made known if they donated large sums. I’m not talking piddling amounts here, I mean in the millions.

I’ve explained why Charles would pretend (if he did) up above or did you miss it.

Who has exactly explained why Buckingham Palace is unsuitable and why?

CathyorClaire · 03/04/2020 14:06

The royal family do donate to charities and other causes but the amount is never made public

Do you have a link verifying this?

Livingtothefull · 03/04/2020 14:07

It is up to private individuals what they give whether or not they boast but the Royals are meant to set a good example. It is not like them either to pass up an opportunity for good PR.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 14:12

audreysview - No it wouldn't be made known.

And as for thinking that someone would pretend to be ill to avoid work, perhaps you shouldn't judge other people by your own standards.

Read back through the thread for reasons and I think it's on the other thread as well.

audreysview · 03/04/2020 14:19

The queen out with the begging bowl for a slice of the pensioners cold weather kitty tells us all we need to know.
I refuse to believe that the royals are generous to charities. It’s in their nature to be takers not givers, in a greedy grasping way. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

Clavinova · 03/04/2020 14:23

No it doesn't- it was a 'deputy' treasurer who made the application - she probably didn't know anything about it.

Haha, what bollocks Grin Grin Grin

mig58 · 03/04/2020 14:40

Here's hoping.
Charlie boy has recovered from the virus and out of self isolation. Should be immune now. Why then is he not opening that hospital in person rather than by video?
Useless shower the lot of them.
The sovereign grant should be suspended as none of the working. Let them support themselves like the rest of the country is having to.

Wolfgirrl · 03/04/2020 15:05

@Mamamia456 sigh

You're just repeating the same excuses over and over.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:11

audreysview - You can believe what you want. If you really think that Prince Charles has faked having coronavirus then that says a lot about your own mindset.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:13

Wolfgirrl - Because it's the same questions over and over again!

CathyorClaire · 03/04/2020 15:18

Because it's the same questions over and over again!

I asked for a link to prove your claim the royals donate cold hard cash to charity which was a new question and I'm still waiting.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:19

Mig58 - We don't definitely know that once someone has had the virus they are 100% immune or for how long. Don't forget that this is a new virus and scientists are still gathering information. Hopefully the antibody test will be able to establish the answers to this.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:20

CathyorClare - You won't find that private information on line.

audreysview · 03/04/2020 15:22

Oh of course she knew. Something like that, and she wouldn’t be aware of it? Shock

As if the deputy treasurer would take it on himself to do something like that without her knowing.

More than his jobs worth.

She’s got form for expecting the taxpayer to cough up for stuff that will save her from dipping into her fortune.

CathyorClaire · 03/04/2020 15:23

You won't find that private information on line.

How convenient.

CathyorClaire · 03/04/2020 15:25

You won't find that private information on line

And how then do you know it for a fact?

alloutoffucks · 03/04/2020 15:25

I know Prince Charles does not give money to the charity he founded The Prince's Trust.

audreysview · 03/04/2020 15:29

Mamamia You really are naive aand gullible as to what the royals are capable of. You really find it shocking that the Palace won’t do what it takes to protect the future king? I’m not saying this is definitely what happened, I could be wrong. But it would be the perfect excuse for him to hide away......But if I am right, no way would it surprise or shock me. You need to take off those rose tinted spectacles where the RF are concerned. They’re the most powerful family in the country, don’t doubt that they’ll lie when it suits.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:32

You'll be pleased to know the Queen is giving a televised broadcast at 8pm on this Sunday the 5th.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:33

CathyorClare - I suppose it is convenient if you're anti royal.

audreysview · 03/04/2020 15:35

Mamamia You really are besotted with them aren’t you. What’s your views on Andrew and the way the queen made a show of going out riding with him?

CathyorClaire · 03/04/2020 15:37

I suppose it is convenient if you're anti royal.

Convenient for royalists who can't provide evidence of wild claims too.

Mamamia456 · 03/04/2020 15:40

audreysview - Besotted? Hahaha.

I don't discuss Prince Andrew on a public forum.
