@longshot started a new thread as the other filled up and I thought you were poorly and people would be wanting to find out how you were doing.

@TheDrsWife46 you could ask your GP about something else to help you sleep, are you on any anti depressants? One option would be nortriptyline at a low dose, but it depends on what else you take. I have melatonin shipped from USA.

@ofwarren I have terrible heartburn too and getting through my bottle of gaviscon on top of lansoprazole. I mentioned the heartburn to the GP and he dismissed it as not a symptom but I’m convinced it is and my husband had it and never normally gets it.

I’m taking antibiotics as I had some co amoxiclav in the cupboard. I don’t think I have an infection but I guess it would prevent one. Is anyone finding their cough is more productive after the two week mark? I’m day 18, 15 since first cough. It seemed better on Sunday, just overwhelming fatigue, weak and achey muscles.

I started taking zinc with vitamin C and quercetin which may be helping. I’ve made packs of these supplements, plus vitamin D and iodine (kelp) for our parents to take it they get symptoms.

What an awful night - am I the only one being woken up to breathe more by my body each time I drift off? :(

pinkoneblueone · 30/03/2020 06:17

No I've been that same, my chest hurts and it feels like I can taste blood in my throat but I can't find a reason why as I haven't been coughing as much in the night

Casino218 · 30/03/2020 06:23

Morning everyone Day ?21 still here, chest pain still with me and tired as haven't had the best nights sleep.

Useful article if you are feeling scared. Read can you relapse after recovering from virus section

Day 3 here of whatever I've got. Still so far just a high temperature (38-40), elevated heart rate (80 currently), but no other symptoms except my throat feels a bit tight now. I guess I should expect the respiratory symptoms to start soon if it's CV?

Porcupineinwaiting · 30/03/2020 07:58

Hi Smooth. Not everyone gets the respiratory symptoms so you may be lucky. I developed a dry cough on days 6-8 but that was it.

smoooth · 30/03/2020 08:00

Thanks Porcupineinwaiting - you've given me hope!

TheDrsWife46 · 30/03/2020 08:05

Morning everyone. I just woke up, I really did fall asleep after dropping my phone etc. I had taken one kalms. Whether it was psychosomatic or not it was the first time that ive slept by dropping off rather than passing out with exhaustion and the first time i havent gasped for air and woken.

I had the squits again a lot yesterday. Im still shaky now ive woken up like im going to have more gastric symptoms but this is the first time Ive felt rested.

This is day 8 now for me. I dont mind admitting that Ive prayed a lot lately and I’ll be praying to turn a corner today.

longshot · 30/03/2020 08:06

Good morning. Day 20 here.

I actually slept very well. Still a little uncomfortable on my back but manageable. First night I haven’t taken paracetamol before bed.

This morning I feel moderately ok, slight sore throat is back and I’m a bit groggy but otherwise ok. Chest a little sore.

Another day of rest for me.

Someone earlier said about how much worse the anxiety makes things. I would echo this. I’ve felt terrible at points in this 20 days and genuinely worried I won’t see my children in the morning however now I’m a bit better I don’t allow myself to think that. I just keep resting and thinking of how I will get through that day safely without letting things get worse (eg don’t do too much). I know this is really hard at the start because your body is in shock from what is going on and some of the symptoms are incredibly scary but from day 12 onwards (or whenever you see a little improvement) I think this mental attitude can help maybe? One day at a time, expect recovery to be very slow.

kevintheorangecarrot · 30/03/2020 08:08

Morning all. Still the same! Elephant sitting on my chest. Have to breathe slowly so I can actually catch my breath!

longshot · 30/03/2020 08:08

@smoooth my DH also hasn’t got any worse yet. He’s had a cough (slight) and a sore throat but it hasn’t yet progressed which for me it had by now. He’s not even tired he says. I would imagine most people within quite mild symptoms won’t be on this thread so there wil definitely be lots of them out there!

TheWooisStrong · 30/03/2020 08:09

Day 19 here.
Woke up feeling quite a bit better again - TMI but then last lingering diarrhoea is gone.
Cough is chesty and productive, from what feels like low down, but not bothersome. Just feels like I’m getting rid of the last of the phlegm.
More vitamins, guaifenesin, hot shower and another day on the sofa coming up.
Home school is going to be mainly screen based today.

tangledyarn · 30/03/2020 08:13

@thedrswife46 Glad you've got some sleepFlowers I'm taking zopicolne but still awake more than asleep, but better than without it.
I had 3 days of diarrhoea around days 13-16 but nothing since.
I keep being jolted awake with lots of phlegm in my throat that I need to clear, despite having a totally non productive cough (and basically no cough at all now) It might be that im breathing through my mouth though as v breathless.

Needsomegoodnews · 30/03/2020 08:15

Day 14 (since fever and main symptoms) and I woke up feeling cold - then realised it’s because it is actually freezing this morning! My temp is at a normal level for a change (36.8) and my throat doesn’t feel as constructed as the past 2 days. Hoping this means things are heading in the right direction - but not hoping too much as I don’t trust this bug at all! Have already had a few hours here and there where I’ve thought I feel a bit better, and then it hits again like a bus. Sleep was more settled last night though (about 7 hours), which has been unheard of for the past 2 weeks.

Hope you are all doing ok this morning, it’s a tough slog through this xx

smoooth · 30/03/2020 08:28

Thanks Longshot - yes, that makes sense. If mine doesn't progress I might start a 'I've had something that might have been CV but hardly noticed it' thread for balance!

longshot · 30/03/2020 08:33

@Casino218 my chest is worse again today I think. It is so annoying, I'm sort of wheezy now! Maybe this is just a stage I have to get through...! Energy levels are a bit better but I am trying not to get carried away.

Casino218 · 30/03/2020 08:37

@longshot well you're quite far on like me now so it's not the virus anymore it's just irritation left behind from the battle. Like my chest pain. Maybe an inhaler might work if your GP would prescribe ( mine wouldn't I know)!

OP posts:
user34254356 · 30/03/2020 08:39

@longshot that's good that energy levels are getting better. Can you ask GP about the chest?

For those who have chest pain, have you ever felt pain in your lungs especially towards the bottom? This morning I have woken up and I can feel my lungs are achey. I hope this isn't a sign of a relapse. Looking for some reassurance. It's Day 13 today.

ofwarren · 30/03/2020 08:45

Morning everyone
Another good night sleep for me
Phlegm build up at the back of my throat causing some coughing and I have acid reflux, but nothing much else at the moment.
Let's see what day 7 brings.
I'm so glad you got some sleep TheDrsWife

Porcupineinwaiting · 30/03/2020 08:46

Yes a friend of mine thinks it ran through her family last week. A temp spike and a couple days of heavy lungs and that was that, 1 daughter coughed a bit. I'm sure there are far more people like that out there lucky devils.

tootsey · 30/03/2020 08:49

Day 19 here. My advice to anyone in the early days of this is to rest, sleep as much as possible. Difficult when your heart is pounding and you are trying to breathe but I found doing games/puzzles online until I got really tired helped settle me. And still eating to keep your strength up.

At my worst days, around 7 and 8, I was really struggling, and with several underlying conditions, really scared. But each day has brought a tiny bit of progress.

Casino218 · 30/03/2020 08:49

According to my GP there any many more like us as well but thankfully many less that require hospital.

OP posts:
longshot · 30/03/2020 08:54

@Casino218 yes Dr has prescribed me an inhaler which I will use today I think. Still have the stabbing pain in my left breast but it’s less intense. So annoying! I haven’t even done anything this morning except get up and shower!

Casino218 · 30/03/2020 08:56

@longshot my chest pain got better after my second sleep! Rest and rest some more. The virus has gone and we just need to heal now.

stayathomegardener · 30/03/2020 08:58

Morning! Day 19.

Slept next to the open window and actually got a fairly good 6 hours.

Just so fed up now, chest still not right but nothing like last night which was scary.

Should I try melatonin tonight? I have heard good things about it.
