I'm relieved. How about you?

OP posts:

It’s not clear, I have a scan on Wednesday, it’s not a medical need but it is a pregnancy scan. I booked it privately due to NHS being full. But it’s still a scan!

BettyIsMyFavouriteSquirrel · 23/03/2020 20:55

He said don’t meet friends then said you can meet with one person outside of your household, so which is it? FFS he should have just said meet no one outside of your household unless you are a key worker at work.

TheVanguardSix · 23/03/2020 20:55

It is what it is. It's what it needs to be.

feelingverylazytoday · 23/03/2020 20:55

Did he mention post offices? Just thinking of getting electric.
Apart from that, I'm fine with this. My daughter and I have been doing this for 6 days now, and it isn't that difficult.

Crackerofdoom · 23/03/2020 20:55

They will definitely keep the banks open. Denying people access to their money is a surefire way of destroying consumer confidence and tanking the economy.

And the economy has always been a priority for BJ

Cynical (sorry), but only because my dp works at a supermarket, and I am seeing/hearing the worst of it.

We've all seen the queues in the last few days. Some areas are calming down, in many areas, people are still treating it like some sort of warped supermarket sweep competition.

Even though the closure of the non essential shops will have little to no impact on us, these same panic buyers will hear 'closure' and flock to where is open to buy something, anything.

It's not the guidance I'm cynical about, but the general public. Until we end up with police manning the streets and shops (of course the police have nothing better to do!), the idiots will continue.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 23/03/2020 20:56

I was wondering the same about work.

I'm considered a key worker but dh is not.

Lordfrontpaw · 23/03/2020 20:56

Not surprised. But couldn’t he even brush his bloody hair (I know not relevant but I want a grown up in change not a bloody Labrador)?

YakkityYakYakYak · 23/03/2020 20:56

Relieved, but worried that it’s come too late.

If you have been following the advice then it shouldn’t make much difference to your life. It’s just formalising what we all should have been doing for over a week.

iMoan7 · 23/03/2020 20:56

Right thing to do.

This whole thing is like a horrible nightmare.

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 23/03/2020 20:57

Yes we are meant to go to work if we can’t work from home.

I am relieved about his announcement, but also scared and tearful.

How are we going to help vulnerable neighbours who might need help?

BuzzingtheBee · 23/03/2020 20:57

Very pleased!

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 23/03/2020 20:58

Agree that we need to print out permission forms and formalise things.

thecatschampagne · 23/03/2020 20:58

@BettyIsMyFavouriteSquirrel from one person from within your household.

Plump82 · 23/03/2020 20:58

I work in a bank, albeit the call centre part of it and as far as they are concerned we are to be in work as normal.

Letseatgrandma · 23/03/2020 20:58

I am very worried about the schools still being open. I think we are going to see some sick staff and some sick children :(

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 23/03/2020 20:59

It's not only 2 people at a time allowed out to exercise.

It's alone or with members of your own household. I just watched the announcement.

People on here need to stop making up their own rules and basically making shit up in general! Sick and tired of it.

Back to the original question I'm very glad it's happened and I'm glad it's from tonight.

I would hope they have police on roads out of major cities checking that people aren't fucking off to 2nd homes etc.

It's 3 weeks for now.
The people who this will come as a huge shock to are probably those who weren't following the rules which has led to this happening. You've only got yourself to blame if you're unhappy with it.

midgebabe · 23/03/2020 20:59

If someone needs care you can still do that

AlCalavicci · 23/03/2020 20:59

We need to know what is classed essential work .
NHS yes
Shop staff yes
Delivery drivers yes
Public transport drivers ??
Breakdown services ( AA etc ) ??
Cleaners ??

MidsummerMeadow · 23/03/2020 20:59

🤣🤣@Lordfrontpaw ‘I want a grown up in charge not a bloody Labrador’. Brilliant 🤣

TeddyIsaHe · 23/03/2020 21:00

I think we need to prepare for the supermarkets going bananas again tbh. People will panic.

user1493494961 · 23/03/2020 21:00

The Welsh First Minister has just included Banks and Post Offices in the list of premises that will be open.

Koffeeinmycup · 23/03/2020 21:00

Can I just ask if anyone thinks taking the dog to the vet would be allowed? My dog needs an injection from the vet every month and she is due to get one this Friday??

IrisAtwood · 23/03/2020 21:01

I am pleased. It is ridiculous that many people have been behaving as if it is an extended bank holiday and ignoring social distancing. They are putting us at risk!

IrisAtwood · 23/03/2020 21:01

Taking animals to the Vets is allowed as it is essential.
