I'm relieved. How about you?

In theory excellent, but I believe we still need a firmer hand. We are a nation of selfish twats (not all, but a large majority). Still not strict enough. People will ignore.

AlexaShutUp · 23/03/2020 20:51

I'm pleased that they have taken this step. From a personal point of view, it makes no difference to me anyway, as I was already complying with the new requirements.

pepsirolla · 23/03/2020 20:51

Finally a clear message. Surely no one can think it's ok to invite friends and elderly granny to a garden party now as mentioned here, or think it's ok to holiday in Cornwall, meet up in parks with friends etc...... hopefully 🙄 and if they do the police can step in.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 23/03/2020 20:51

Safari, did he mention banks?
I'd try tomorrow morning

Reginabambina · 23/03/2020 20:51

I’m annoyed but glad that he’s at least given us a minimum period. It’s nice to have some certainty for once.

MinkowskisButterfly · 23/03/2020 20:51

Is it Italy or France where you are allowed only 50m from your own property?

peppersneezes000 · 23/03/2020 20:52

How will it be enforced?
How will police know if it's your first or fifth walk of the day. It's a bit wishy washy to be honest but glad something is being done.
We are still not lockdown here in Ireland & people are totally taking the piss...

Fozzleyplum · 23/03/2020 20:52

Tonight's announcement was just what was neeed (and what I and my family have been doing). I have seen some incredibly ignorant, selfish behaviour over the past few days. This was inevitable.

MinkowskisButterfly · 23/03/2020 20:52

That's what we need.

BeetrootRocks · 23/03/2020 20:52

Safariboot someone posted a link to DVLA saying they are giving leeway on mot so look that up.

If your mum can't manage without the money from the cheques call the bank and see if they are putting anything in place. I expect they will have to adapt as well.

Hardly fucked tbh. Have you actually looked into this.

TheTiaraManager · 23/03/2020 20:52

Relieved, I felt it was clear to minimise leaving your home. Unfortunately many individuals & businesses chose to interpret this differently/be self interested,

In that basis please let it now be crystal clear

TeddyIsaHe · 23/03/2020 20:52

My friend’s work have just sent out an email saying 3 members of staff that went to Cheltenham (twats) have CV symptoms.

How that went ahead I’ll never fucking know

ProfessorPootle · 23/03/2020 20:52

Relieved, should have happened sooner in London our hospitals are close to breaking point already and yet people were out and about as normal over the weekend.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 23/03/2020 20:52

Nicola Sturgeon just called it lockdown

Bluewavescrashing · 23/03/2020 20:53

Get on with it, Bozo. Enforce properlockdosn with forms, fines for non compliance.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 23/03/2020 20:53

Only a matter on time for us in ROI

MinkowskisButterfly · 23/03/2020 20:53

@Reginabambina why annoyed?

Bluewavescrashing · 23/03/2020 20:53

Lockdown. No gin consumption here, honest Blush

MarshmallowsOnToast · 23/03/2020 20:53

So the work thing...

Travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home

Is that for "essential workers" (NHS, supermarket workers etc) only as it doesn't specify?

OH is self employed in a job that cannot be done from home but would say his ability to earn a wage is necessary!

What do we think?

Toddlerteaplease · 23/03/2020 20:54

Relieved. I'm grateful to still be able to go to work and To my local park..

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 20:54

He didn't say the word lockdown but that's pretty much what it is isn't it?

I heard no mention of banks and what they're doing.

I presume more will come to light over the next few days.

I actually cried when he finished speaking. I've been willing for this to happen for weeks.

In my humble opinion this was the best and only viable outcome.

Thank fuck!

FoxEars · 23/03/2020 20:54

Thank fuck

Maybe these ignorant cunts will now understand.

🤬🤬🤬

Campervan69 · 23/03/2020 20:54

For me it was still not clear enough. What does it mean people can't use transport unless they're going to work? The firm that I work at are going to that as we still can't work from home which we've been pushing for but they won't allow so we're still going to have to go in every day

Cantdecidewhich · 23/03/2020 20:54

Are we meant to go to work or not? Very foggy

niffynoonoo · 23/03/2020 20:54

I did wonder at this "addressing the nation" earlier?
We need this.
DH is on his way home. He hasn`t seen the annaouncement ....not heard a radio. I called him with get the fuck home NOW. Its a 2 hour drive away. (teacher).
