We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 23/03/2020 19:57

Why is it scaremongering. It's obviously going to happen. Why not go with it and prepare yourself emotionally?

XingMing · 23/03/2020 19:57

Announced at 8.30 and curfew at midnight would be my decision, if I were the PM. Go home now.

Jaxhog · 23/03/2020 19:57

I hope we are. We’re currently on target for 5000 deaths in 2 weeks time. Probably more since we have less critical care beds. It takes 2 weeks of lockdown to show the effects on deaths and number of cases. Now is absolutely the right time to lockdown.

You said it. I bet the crew and passengers on the Titanic thought initial reports of the iceberg were ''scaremongering'.

It's actually worse. Our figures are increasing faster then they were in Italy 2 weeks ago.

Notwiththeseknees · 23/03/2020 19:57

We are on lockdown here in France and it is absolutely fine 6 1/2 days so far. In fact, we feel so much safer now that we are too apprehensive to go home to the UK for the time being - especially looking at the hoards that have converged on my home village on the coast.....

This has turned out to be a very strange winter ski season, looks like it may turn into a very long one too!

Isitmyimagination · 23/03/2020 19:57

Lock down already. Should have been two weeks ago. Please NOW.

endofthelinefinally · 23/03/2020 19:57

Are you watching the news OP?

astraea · 23/03/2020 19:57

I'm worried about being able to collect my children from their fathers house tomorrow. We have 50/50 shared care. Will this be allowed? How does this work in other countries under lockdown?

Redwinestillfine · 23/03/2020 19:58

I guess we'll find out in about half an hour, my money's on lockdown

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 23/03/2020 19:59

Hope it's lockdown tonight because it's the ONLY way all these fuckwits are going to STOP unnecessary social interaction. Don't really care if that messes up my own or others' personal plans because these are people lives we're talking about.

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:59

@BuyingaHome Actually the army are on standby.

So no meed to be rude to a poster who said it

People are so selfish.

Yes LOCKDOWN NOW
This virus is killing people
The longer we are left, the more people will die.
It will be worse in the UK that it is in Italy.

LOCK DOWN NOW

chipsandgin · 23/03/2020 19:59

The fuckwittery exhibited over the weekend and the huge amounts of people truly not getting the exponential rate at which it is spreading and will kill people unnecessarily purely because they don’t understand the principle of flattening the curve means it will happen - it will be announced in half an hour, thankfully & I really hope it starts tomorrow. Let’s see..

XingMing · 23/03/2020 19:59

With mahoosive fines for the eejits not complying.

Myfriendanxiety · 23/03/2020 19:59

Lockdown for the sensible amongst us isn’t scary as it’s exactly how we’ve been living for the past week anyway. You go out unless essential.

Myfriendanxiety · 23/03/2020 20:00

*dont go out!

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 20:00

@astraea
A lock down still allows essential movement

You picking up your children will be ok. 100%
You might struggle with public transport though....

tinytemper66 · 23/03/2020 20:00

I support my disabled son from 8 miles away as for reasons I won't go fo into he can't live at home. He needs me and I am scared I wont be able to help him with his needs. He doesn't meet criteria to have support from SS. I i do everything for him washing shaving shopping laundry, clean his home, getting his electricity put on the key etc. This is why I am scared of a lockdown. Not for myself.

midwestspring · 23/03/2020 20:00

@BuyingaHome we are on a stay in place order and can move apartments because it is essential to have a roof over your head.
So moving house is allowed if essential.

StealthMama · 23/03/2020 20:01

I'm hopeful for lockdown. The military is mobilised support, the legislation has been passed, locking down now is our only chance to tell a different story to Italy in the history books.

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 20:01

@tinytemper66
You will be fine. This will be under essential need to be out

midwestspring · 23/03/2020 20:01

@tinytemper66 you would also be allowed to undertake caring duties as this is essential.

maddiemookins16mum · 23/03/2020 20:02

Driving home after work tonight (3 of us left in an office that usually has 190), I passed group after group of teens hanging around.

Sostenueto · 23/03/2020 20:02

And if all the stupid idiots out there had followed the advice last week maybe lockdown would not have been for another week or two. So all those panic buyers shoulder to shoulder in the shops clearing out goods so people like me couldn't get milk or bread or toilet roll or even any sort of food, and those real idiots at the weekend swarming like ants on beaches parks etc have got precisely what you deserve complete removal of your freedom just because you couldn't follow a simple set if instructions twats! All of you selfish stupid twats!

Stellabellawella · 23/03/2020 20:02

Um. Yes we are

Ingridla · 23/03/2020 20:03

We are. Public gatherings of more than 2 will land you a fine from tomorrow

Daisiest · 23/03/2020 20:03

Of course we are. It's on all channels at 8.30pm.
