We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

I see Mystic Meg is a member of MN ...

SmileEachDay · 23/03/2020 19:23

France announced 8pm then implemented at midday the next day.

People had 12 hours to get to their nominated address.

There’s fuck all point hanging around once the decision is made, it would be chaos.

Didiusfalco · 23/03/2020 19:23

I’m finding the idea of not having a lock down far scarier than the thought of having one!

HairyFloppins · 23/03/2020 19:23

They are going to have to do it. The weather is going to glorious the next few days. The beaches will be packed.

Nixen · 23/03/2020 19:24

Unless you’re Carrie I don’t see how you can possible know better than everyone else 🙄

ilovecakeandwine · 23/03/2020 19:24

@kittykat7210 those things are all essential so will be allowed even on a lockdown.
Like someone else said different countries have different things but won't be allowed are big groups at the park which is what has been happening.

Wineislifex · 23/03/2020 19:25

I hope we are! It’s not scaremongering it’s the next logical step seen as people are refusing to social distance! It’s protecting the the public from the selfish idiots who think it’s appropriate to queue for fish and chips, congregate on the beach or let their kids play out!

Stay inside morons!

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 19:25

Why can't people just adhere to the rules. It's ridiculous!

OP posts:
keentohelp · 23/03/2020 19:27

We are 100% going into lockdown. That's just a fact.

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 19:27

@frignella where on earth did you hear the army were mobilising? Did you see them on the video in Clapham? Hmm

@kittykat7210 good to know! Can they fast track the bill?

I think they will lockdown but I think it will be Friday! Ahead of the weekend!

midwestspring · 23/03/2020 19:28

Lockdown is fine, boring but fine.
This is week two for us, I think, you do slightly lose track of time.
You can still get essentials like food and medicine, we can walk the dog.
Kids go a bit nuts cooped up but that is the worst thing.
It is a lot better than letting a pandemic run through the population unchecked.

FatAlbert · 23/03/2020 19:28

FFS what is it with stupid people going on about scaremongering?

We should be scared. People’s behaviour in the last couple of weeks will make this so much worse than it could have been.

We’ve seen this coming since January.

CandyLeBonBon · 23/03/2020 19:28

By the time the bill is passed it'll probably be Thursday or Friday for a lockdown. Unlikely tonight without lords approval I think?

Matildathehun77 · 23/03/2020 19:29

Lockdown isn't something to be scared off, it's just firmly making you do what anybody with an ounce of common sense is doing anyway. No it won't be particularly pleasant but it'll be fine, you're in your own home with all your home comforts. People have lived through much worse!

hopeishere · 23/03/2020 19:29

That's just mad. Lockdown now the weekend is too late.

Marieo · 23/03/2020 19:29

I hope we do! I think some have an odd view of what lockdown is likely to entail though.

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 19:29

@mintjulia - I'm meant to be moving house next week! And my rent will be up! I don't know what I'll do tbh

OP posts:
Petetongue · 23/03/2020 19:30

We NEED to lock down. Daughter on front line, she and I are petrified, how dare people think this is a holiday!

eaglejulesk · 23/03/2020 19:30

@Matildathehun77 well said! We aren't being asked to go to war!

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 19:32

@candylebon interesting. Can they fast track? Where can I read online about the bill and lockdown?

OP posts:
TheGreatWave · 23/03/2020 19:32

Yeah it's going to happen, late press conference, lots more shops have announced closures, councils closing parks.

It will happen, the UK isn't a special entity, every other country has done it.

grandmasterstitch · 23/03/2020 19:32

@NotDisclosedToday scaremonger and also infrastructure. I've heard the word infrastructure more times than I can count!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 23/03/2020 19:33

Cape town are going into lockdown on Thursday. I think we should have done it weeks ago

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2020 19:34

I'm fed up with all these hysterical complaints on MN about "scaremongering"

  • which now apparently just means people speculating about whether the inevitable lockdown will be Monday or Friday

Or basically anybody posting something you don't like about COVID-19

Anyway, lockdown isn't some terrible doom:
if people in other countries can manage lockdown, I'm sure the UK public will too

What on earth is there to "scaremonger" about Hmm
