We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

I'm terrified I'm not going to see my partner who lives 200 miles away. He's had an operation cancelled and is panicking about this virus. He has had no work for ages because of ill health and now this (he's an actor) and basically I need to see him to calm him down. He can't move in with me because he struggles to be around people full time and I can't move to be with him as I've got two elderly people to look after. I can't get to him until Friday because that's the earliest I have care for my mother in law for the day. My plan is to drive straight there with no stops ;doable) see him in his flat. Drive home and wash change before I see my household.

Im very resentful of the complete and utter cunts who decided their need for going to the countryside, seaside and parks this weekend trumped my partner and I seeing each other. Yes, I'm selfish too. But fuck it. I love him.

Petetongue · 23/03/2020 19:35

My daughter is 24, how dare selfish people put her life at risk because they want to go for a walk, I haven't seen her for 2 weeks, she needs me at this time, I would love to give her a hug, but have to go without, so you can go without your bloody walk!

PestyMachtubernahme · 23/03/2020 19:35

That's a shame medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-the-hammer-and-the-dance-be9337092b56

Darbs76 · 23/03/2020 19:35

What’s really scary is NOT going into lockdown. People are treating this like a joke

tigger1001 · 23/03/2020 19:36

Some posts on here have been scaremongering, but suggesting we are about to go into lockdown isn't one of them.

Given boris is addressing the nation, rather than giving the daily briefing, and the very sad fact some idiots think social distancing means gathering at beaches/tourist spots and further idiots who think moving to their holiday homes is a fab idea - ignoring that most of these places have very limited medical resources, I would be far more surprised if a lockdown isn't announced tonight.

FreierFall · 23/03/2020 19:37

I am going to wake up soon aren't I?

mbosnz · 23/03/2020 19:37

What will be, will be. And we will adjust, and cope.

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 19:37

Depends what scares you really

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 19:37

@leighhalfpennysthigh

I agree! It's ridiculous! I need to move house and I won't be able to and I'll essentially be homeless if we lock down tonight. Sad

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 19:38

Is it the virus out there or the voice/S in your head?

MsNobody · 23/03/2020 19:38

@NotDisclosedToday fuck yeah, I hate that word. Brexit done it for me.

Petetongue · 23/03/2020 19:39

Tough shit buyingahouse my daughter could be seriously ill to look after you, no sympathy whatsoever

FenellaVelour · 23/03/2020 19:40

Nice try 🙄

Falacy · 23/03/2020 19:40

I'm meant to be moving house next week! And my rent will be up! I don't know what I'll do tbh

So it's not about "scaremongering" it's about your own very personal situation. You don't want a lockdown because you're scared it will get in the way of your plans to move house

Meanwhile everyone who is scared NOT going on lockdown will get in the way of their plans to stay alive is scaremongering.

Okaaaaaaay 👌🏻

middleager · 23/03/2020 19:41

10 days? Hmm
You're living in Cloud Cuckoo Land OP. Were you one of the "it's just the flu" crowd?

bumblingbovine49 · 23/03/2020 19:41

I really hope not. My DS who is severely depressed has been waiting for an assessment with a psychiatrist for 5 months . His appointment is tomorrow. I can't bear to think of it being cancelled. We have been social distancing for a couple of weeks but I really want us to keep this appointment tomorrow. I'm in a slight more vulnerable group but this is so important for him that I really want us to go

Instatwat · 23/03/2020 19:42

I need to move house and I won't be able to and I'll essentially be homeless if we lock down tonight.

So you DON’T actually know? What a shock Hmm

ilovecakeandwine · 23/03/2020 19:43

It might not be lock down it may just be non essential shops to be closed like hairdressers/ clothes shops . Even takeaway shops closed like kfc have voluntarily closed so less reasons to go out .

Instatwat · 23/03/2020 19:43

Exactly what @Falacy said. You’re self-obsessed.

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:44

Why would saying we are going into lock down scare anyone

ThatSs what needs to happen

TO SAVE LIVES!!!!!!

MargotB7 · 23/03/2020 19:44

I can understand people has personal reasons they don't want to go into lockdown right now.

After this weekends events we have to go into lockdown.

TheGreatWave · 23/03/2020 19:45

No it has to be an all or nothing now. This half hearted approach completely failed at the weekend. The time is now.

MargotB7 · 23/03/2020 19:45

Have

Allthepinkunicorns · 23/03/2020 19:45

He's giving people the opportunity to return back to the UK 48hrs so I imagine lock down will be on Wednesday when his bill has been passed and the 48hr time period is over. Although I wish he would do it now.

Greendin · 23/03/2020 19:45

It will need to be done quickly otherwise people will start panic buying and partying all over again. The other countries did it at very short notice. I read somewhere we'd get 12 hours notice and it would make sense to give the notice tonight and start it in the morning, whilst the shops are currently shut and it's too late to organise a party.
