We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

We should have been in lockdown at least two weeks ago. There has bern far too much uncertainty and dithering by the Government. Tough times needs tough leadership. It has all led to some businesses doing bloody stupid things. I mean all the hairdressers and beauty salons. Anywhere where people are literally in each other’s faces should have been stopped straight away.

I’ve been having my nails done at a brilliant little salon for the last three years. I really felt for the girls but I cancelled all my appointments two weeks ago.

Gyms stayed open far too long. Sweaty people sharing the same equipment and then heading into the shared steam room/sauna.

It’s not just the little guys either. Why FFS was Cheltenham racing allowed to take place?

I’ve cringed at stupid women posturing on local news- ‘I get my hair done every Friday and I’m not stopping for anybody.’

As for the behaviour this weekend. I seriously thought there was a higher level of intelligence in this country. Clearly I was wrong.

XingMing · 23/03/2020 20:03

Your childrens' father may be about to learn about looking after children when there's no mum/wife to delegate to. I hope he's a good dad. They will survive grubby clothes and odd meals,

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 23/03/2020 20:04

Hang fire, Boris buyingahome has plans!

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 20:04

If nobody ever said "scaremongering" again it would be too fucking soon.

Amen.

Matildathehun77 · 23/03/2020 20:04

I'm worried about being able to collect my children from their fathers house tomorrow. We have 50/50 shared care. Will this be allowed? How does this work in other countries under lockdown

As far as I'm aware child contact is being upheld in other countries. I share care of ds, we'll have him week and week about coordinating the handover with both weekly shops to avoid unnecessary trips out. I think if both households are isolating (which we are anyway) this should be safe.

madcatladyforever · 23/03/2020 20:04

I'm sick of hearing about peoples "anxiety". I work in the NHS and it is 10 times worse than is on the news, it WILL be like Italy very very soon and unless people stop behaving like selfish wankers they will die in droves.
People need to stop wandering about, grow up, listen and behave like responsible adults or you'll soon all have something to feel anxious about.

GirlCalledJames · 23/03/2020 20:06

You can still move house in a lockdown.

Sostenueto · 23/03/2020 20:07

One infected person will on average infect two and a half people in one day. In 30 days that would be well over 440 people infected. Do that 30000 times then what figure folks?

TeddyIsaHe · 23/03/2020 20:07

Oh so you don’t want a lockdown for purely selfish reasons. Were you one of the idiots treating this weekend like a bank holiday as well?

I don’t want thousands upon thousands to needlessly die. So lockdown immediately please!

Makinglists · 23/03/2020 20:07

After speaking with a relative who is in the front line at the nhs tonight please, please lockdown now. I get claustrophobic but I'd rather feel we were doing everything we could to fight this virus and have to stay at home.

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 20:08

They're asking people to fly home. I think they'll wait two days or so till people get back

Then they will lock down

Stop scaremongering

The truth isnt scarmongering!

People have been warning about whats going to happen in the UK for months they were accused of 'scarmongering' 'its just a cold', its just a flu' etc etc. Now its hit home to many people but the idiots who still believe that are putting the rest of the UK at risk. Have you even seen the news over the weekend? If brain cells were gunpowder half of the UK wouldnt have enough to blow their own bloody noses.

You cant argue with stupid they need to be made to act responsibly.
Lockdown doesnt mean you wont ever be able to leve your house again ffs!

vegas888 · 23/03/2020 20:09

What’s the bloody point in lockdown when flights are arriving in from all over the world.
Look at the photos of arrivals from Thailand today, passengers moaning because there was no social distancing at arrivals but didn’t moan sitting on a 12-14 hour flight home.
Yet we are getting roasted if we have a cuppa in the back garden.
Dear lord 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

LeaveTheBottle · 23/03/2020 20:09

OP, I'm also in the process of moving house and I'm really worried that we won't be able to. But I am much more worried about what will happen if we don't go into lockdown.

And this is coming from someone who is DESPERATE to move!

XingMing · 23/03/2020 20:09

If DC are with a parent, then why is it necessary to move them around?

daisychain01 · 23/03/2020 20:10

Why can't people just adhere to the rules. It's ridiculous!

It's human nature.

People are currently undergoing a massive change in their whole existence, their routines, everything they thought was certain has been replaced with confusion, doubt and instability.

Some people can quickly get on board and deal with the change, it has to be done

Others become angry, why should they be forced to do what they've never asked for.

Others mourn the past, how it was, "why do I need to change, it was great just the way it was!"

We're all somewhere on the change curve, but we're all heading in the same direction, whether sooner or later, we need to get to acceptance and the sooner we do the more likely we are to survive.

We aren't going to lockdown! Stop scaremongering!
Tootletum · 23/03/2020 20:10

People love scaremongering and telling everyone else they're wrong. It scares me how much the majority seems to like authoritarian approaches, and how little they are interested in differing points of view, or uncertainty on the evidence, or the balance between saving some and hurting others. Nope it's all just "lockdown will fix it". No it won't. Suicide kills with a lot more certainty than coronavirus.

BuyingaHome · 23/03/2020 20:11

@Ozziewozzie piss off!!!! I've not left my house for 13 days!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Sammymommy · 23/03/2020 20:11

"Tbh every single person I see scares the shit out me right now. I find myself washing my hands as I get out of the shower!"

Same. To be honest, I know I am over the top but my anxiety is out of control. I don't want to go for a walk because I will have to touch doors other people touched in my building, I rationed my food so I don't have to go out to shop... I need to get a grip

Hadenoughofitall441 · 23/03/2020 20:11

We need to because selfish assholes won’t adhere to social distancing. They need a lockdown for 2 weeks at least. I don’t want one. But I think it’s the right step.

Montsti · 23/03/2020 20:12

I’m pretty sure Boris will announce that you will be put on lockdown imminently.

It has been announced this evening that where we live (South Africa) is under lockdown as of midnight on Thursday...only supermarkets, pharmacies, doctors and hospitals will be open. We won’t be allowed outside of our houses/gardens even to walk the dog unless you’re a key worker or going to one of the above...

We don’t have any deaths yet...BUT it will be catastrophic if we don’t do anything now..

ILLBESUZIE · 23/03/2020 20:12

How do you know OP? Are you Larry, the Downing Street cat? Have you been listening at doors that the rest of us can't?

XingMing · 23/03/2020 20:13

@girlcalledjames. But you should NOT be able to move in lockdown. Lockdown means stay at home, isolate, and get on with life once the curfew ends. So stay put and STFU. Your plans don't matter more than mine, or anyone else's. If you are told to put life on stop, stop.

midwestspring · 23/03/2020 20:14

Yet we are getting roasted if we have a cuppa in the back

I can still go into my garden in my stay in place order.
I just can't have a garden party or hang around with others in the park.
It honestly isn't that hard to get right.

endofthelinefinally · 23/03/2020 20:15

Flights from Thailand have stopped now I think. Thai airways last flight out was last Saturday. EVA were cancelling flights a week ago and the Middle Eastern airlines stopped flights today i think.
Testing is pretty easy to get in Thailand and the Thai government requires medical certificates and Fit to Fly certificates from anyone trying to fly there, including Thai nationals trying to get home.
