No more Sainsbury's deliveries

They will now only deliver to you if they have identified you as elderly, vulnerable or disabled. I assume other supermarkets will do the same.

I'm glad they have done this, but at the same time worried that the supermarkets will be busier germ factories than ever!

And, yet, Boris told us all to shop online last night.

He said shop on line if you can

Roomba · 24/03/2020 12:05

Worried for my parents too. They are elderly, have multiple health conditions, have never shopped online before, ever. They struggle with using a mobile phone tbh. I live hundreds of miles away and they have no family nearby. All their neighbours bar one house are also elderly - the one house that isn't are a teacher and a doctor who are being exposed every day.

I just know my parents will give in and head to Sainsbury's.

Marieo · 24/03/2020 12:07

@Roomba have they signed up for the vulnerable persons list to apply to receive food packages?

hellsbells99 · 24/03/2020 12:08

I have been trying to contact Sainsburys on the number they have given. It is continually engaged. No other way of contact them. why can't they release an email address to contact?
I do an order every 2 weeks for my elderly and frail mother who lives 2 hours away from me - its the only reason I have a delivery pass. I have flagged on her delivery details that she is over 70 with a blue badge and s a vulnerable person, but they haven't flagged her in the system so I cannot get a delivery for her.

Marieo · 24/03/2020 12:10

@Roomba the gov ones not Sainsbury's.

Piggywaspushed · 24/03/2020 12:30

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 27/03/2020 11:05

I find they respond to messenger within 24 hours. Maybe try contacting them via that?

< braces for internet crashing!>

Oldhag47 · 29/03/2020 11:16

According to sainsbury I am not elderly or needy or vulnerable.
I am 72 arthritic diabetic and meneries disease .. I have no local shop within 5 miles and live 25 miles from the nearest major supermarket and dont drive .. no buses come within 3 miles of my home . Cant get a delivery slot cant get through on phone cant get through any other way to sainsbury's. Lucky my freezer was filled before lockdown bit once that is gone I'll be joining the list of dead.... not from the virus bit from hunger

There will help once all the thousands of volunteers have been registered and organised.
Letter from Boris should arrive in the next few days with info on who to contact.

Totally ignoring me on messenger!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 29/03/2020 14:06

Yeah, and me!!!! They were fine until yesterday!!!

Amberbengal · 04/04/2020 16:08

So pleased to be identified as one of Sainsburys vulnerable folk. Get an email yesterday, a phone call this morning telling me to go and register and set up an account online. I already have an account which still says I am NOT identified! Cant set up a new different account as they say as they recognise my existing account. Been round in circles for 3 hours now!
