So nothing except the gym and maybe the weatherspoons has closed.

Heaving full market, shops busy.

Police say they wont be checking or enforcing anything at all.

So what was the point?

@mumsmas1 Grin Wish you were out with a tannoy on Friday....!

Taddda · 23/03/2020 11:30

(In a hazmat suit, obviously...)

mumsmas1 · 23/03/2020 11:32

@Taddda what a relief to find someone who agrees :)

bullyingadvice2017 · 23/03/2020 11:34

I have been driving to places I usually walk my dog. Out of the way where I usually would see no one or one person. They are all busy.
The parks are like sunny summer holidays. Counted 30 kids on the play area yesterday.

We need to lockdown today. I doubt they will tho.

Pensionista · 23/03/2020 12:18

We are watching these total morons on TV from Spain, probably spreading the virus all around. Cannot believe the absolute stupidity of people. Boris should ORDER LOCKDOWN NOW. In my little Spanish town they are out sanitising the streets. I have been out once in 14 days for food. I'm hoping to not only save my life but others as well. The health service here is overwhelmed and all non essential operations and hospital appointments are cancelled. The UK is in for a humongous shock. People who need hospital appointments will die waiting. To all of you with more than one brain cell, stay home if you can, apart from key workers, or needing food. This may save your life and others.

Mother's Day on my street was if anything busier with visitors than last year. I can tell by the amount of cars parked on the street. It was so packed I couldn't find a space to park near my home. This morning I could see a real difference driving to work though. So maybe Boris last pronouncement got people to pay attention. Took me half of the time to get to work.

Pensionista · 23/03/2020 12:21

@adaline... sorry you don't have a garden or anyone else. Stick your head out the ruddy window then and breathe.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 12:29

At 7 am this morning it was like the M1 outside my house with the same level of commuter traffic as usual. The builders are still on site opposite. There must be 50 of them. They then all go for their breaks together in a van.

The only difference I can see is that the construction company sent out a snack van to them.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 12:31

pensionista , I think one of the big problems here is that virtually everyone thinks she or he is a keyworker thanks to the government's extensive list.

In addition to which, the government has shrunk its list of the most vulnerable.

adaline · 23/03/2020 12:35

sorry you don't have a garden or anyone else. Stick your head out the ruddy window then and breathe.

I'm very fortunate that I do have a garden. I was just saying to DH yesterday that at least we have outdoor space to relax in - lots aren't so lucky and I don't envy them over the coming weeks and months.

madcatladyforever · 23/03/2020 12:36

And mine, as I drove through town to work this morning people were out and about and chatting in the streets. This was a moment I wished I had an election car microphone so I could hurl abuse at them all as I went past.
I am working in the community hospital this morning and it's as quiet as the grave. people are lined up 2 meters apart outside minor injuries.
Most of my patients have asked me why I have that "thing" on my face and I'm tempted to say, "So you don't die" but I have to bite my tongue.

Pensionista · 23/03/2020 12:59

@madcatladyforever,....Tell the morons in your sweetest voice, "so you don't die sweetie" The level of ignorance beggars belief. These fuckers are in for a huge shock.

mumsmas1 · 23/03/2020 13:01

They are all thick and selfish - sorry to say but its true

DartmoorChef · 23/03/2020 13:03

In Spain the police and army are going round in cars with loud speakers. That needs to be happening here.

Jux · 23/03/2020 13:08

Local Councils could send round loud-hailer vans, town councillors can patrol explaining to people why they're not supposed to be out and about. Town Councils could close local parks, playing fields etc. We have people congregating in our playing fields. Picnics are in evidence, large groups etc etc.

Darwin Awards.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 13:35

There are kids PLAYING FOOTBALL at the local primary school under staff say so....Jesus wept.

Alsohuman · 23/03/2020 13:51

And your point is? Those kids are in school anyway!

threatmatrix · 23/03/2020 13:52

What do you need hand sanitizer for???

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 13:56

also seriously??? No one should be playing football!!! FFS

What do you mean anyway ?

Alsohuman · 23/03/2020 14:01

If the kids are in school, they’re already cheek by jowl, how is playing football making it worse? And I’m assuming they are in school if staff are supervising them. Anyway, how do you know? We’re all supposed to be at home.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 14:03

The EFL has banned football.
Watch the news, they will show beautifully socially distanced children at schools on the news. They are breaking guidelines. They should not be cheek by jowl in a classroom either .

I live opposite the school.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 14:04

When one plays football , one shakes hands, seats, high fives , rolls around celebrating.

Don't pick a fight for the sake of it ; it's ridiculous.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2020 14:04

sweats

Taddda · 23/03/2020 14:27

Seriously- Boris needs to Lockdown- just look at the fighting on MN as one small example- that's no ones fault but poor leadership and sloppy 'suggestions'.

Yes, it seems people in this country are idiots, but they're ill informed idiots-

In a few years time will Boris be known as the PM who killed off a nation? Because to be honest the world are looking at us and shaking their heads right now...
