So nothing except the gym and maybe the weatherspoons has closed.

Heaving full market, shops busy.

Police say they wont be checking or enforcing anything at all.

So what was the point?

Mine is the same. Dh had to go and pick up a prescription and the town is heaving. Market is on, people milling about, children running around.

SapphireSalute · 21/03/2020 11:19

but why are you there adding to the crowds?

Hannah021 · 21/03/2020 11:20

I went to tesco at 8, packed of ppl, no canned tomatos, no hand sanitisers, no toilet rolls, not even kitchen rolls!! Do ppl think kitchen rolls r a replacement?? Cuz they'll block the sewage system!!

Ppl's greed is ruining everything

Connie222 · 21/03/2020 11:21

@SapphireSalute my Dh had no choice, had to pick me up my anti sickness for HG. Parked outside the Pharmacy and was in and out. It was mainly driving there he saw everyone else.

Falangalangadingdang · 21/03/2020 11:25

My dh said the same. He had to go and try to get me some paracetamol because I hurt and the selfish stockpilers wiped out stocks.

Market heaving with people.

Glaceon · 21/03/2020 11:26

@SapphireSalute I'm not. I live 50 metres from the market place but thankyou for assuming.

Glaceon · 21/03/2020 11:27

And also, its NON essential. Anyone leaving mine to the nearest pharmacy or store HAS to pass through the whole of town. I literally live metres off the high street.

OP posts:
Falangalangadingdang · 21/03/2020 11:28

Oh and my neighbours appear to think social distancing doesn't apply to them. I'm tempted to open the window and scream "you selfish fuckers" at them.

SuperlativeScrubs · 21/03/2020 11:29

Business as usual here, except now alcohol stocks are depleting too.

There goes my end of work wine next week!

Glaceon · 21/03/2020 11:29

I've counted at least 8 voices passing my window since that last comment. That's how busy it is. I cannot believe this.

Whenwillthisbeover · 21/03/2020 11:30

No canned tomatoes, kitchen roll or hand sanitiser... where do you live? We haven’t had any for nearly two weeks 😀

SouthWestmom · 21/03/2020 11:30

Yup dh has just suggested popping in to town. He will go crazy if we go onto lockdown.

I've said no and he's contenting himself tidying up the garden.

I think we will move to full lockdown. Had to collect a prescription for ds in town yesterday and shops were full, old people still wandering around going into non essential shops. Ridiculous and slightly pissing me off that the elderly aren't listening.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/03/2020 11:30

I'm at home and I can see plenty of people out and about through the window. And somebody has posted on the local facebook page that the market is on in town today. Hmm Costa coffee is still open and the other restaurants and pubs are all offering takeaway so people are still going in to pick things up.

Mysocalledlifexx · 21/03/2020 11:32

Streets are dead here, supermarkets are busy still not much food left.
Me and the kids staying in just my DH doing the shop run.

GreekOddess · 21/03/2020 11:32

I drove down my local high street this morning and it was business as usual. Groups of friends together etc. People are not getting the message.

Useryokyesno · 21/03/2020 11:35

It's definitely not the same up in the North East where I live

Flaxmeadow · 21/03/2020 11:36

My brother lives in a town centre. Large town in the north of England. Says no one is taking a blind bit of notice of any advice
Traffic still the same.
Shops and supermarkets still the same.
No standing a metre apart in queues.
His friends girlfriend is in a salon ATM getting her eyelashes done for a get together tonight.

Connie222 · 21/03/2020 11:39

There’s just no bloody point is there? Why isn’t it getting though to people. I feel like we (my immediate family) are the only ones taking this seriously. Why are we the only ones staying at home when everyone else seems to carry on as normal.

Rocketmam · 21/03/2020 11:41

There are pavillions and what appears to be a huge bbq party being set up in my neighbours back garden.

If it is anything like their usual partying then we can expect at least 100+ people until 3am.

The NHS is fucked.

I can't believe the behavioural 'scientists' advising the government are this clueless as to what a majority of people are actually like.

LonginesPrime · 21/03/2020 11:43

Do ppl think kitchen rolls r a replacement?? Cuz they'll block the sewage system!!

Im convinced that this will be the next major issue in this crisis.

People are going to be unable to use their toilets and flush away their waste next, which will lead to further rushes on cleaning products and other diseases increasing.

What is wrong with these people!!

Flaxmeadow · 21/03/2020 11:48

Its amazing hiw many people don't seem to know that city and town centres have many densely packed dwellings.
Anyone who has looked around Leeds city centre, especially around the train station, will know just how densely populated it is. With many blocks of flats of all rent brackets. Some of those flats are tiny.

Falangalangadingdang · 21/03/2020 11:48

Im convinced that this will be the next major issue in this crisis.

It's in the news today, already causing issues.

Hannah021 · 21/03/2020 11:48

@Whenwillthisbeover haha well i've been avoiding the supermarkets amid the craziness, i just need my usual items... Its impossible
