So nothing except the gym and maybe the weatherspoons has closed.

Heaving full market, shops busy.

Police say they wont be checking or enforcing anything at all.

So what was the point?

Mine was half empty.

Roads empty

But it's a London borough we have listened it seems more than the rest of the country

addictedtotheflats · 21/03/2020 17:20

I despair. Italy have had 6500 cases today and 793 deaths, this will be us in 3 weeks. I have had to share some harsh truths to my friends today who are going about their normal lives with tickly coughs and "feeling peaky" Just stay in your house FFS!!!

MrsMGE · 21/03/2020 17:23

I am surprised tbh. Had an afternoon off yesterday and popped to the shop to buy supplies for our elderly family members. The shops were full of people! It gave me such anxiety that I left. People are not practising social distancing but shops are equally guilty for not imposing any sensible rules!

Today went for a walk in my area and in fairness, hardly any people were out which was great. But the roads are manic, where on earth are all these people going now?

The80sweregreat · 21/03/2020 17:46

We will be worse and people do not seem to care.

TheGreatWave · 21/03/2020 17:48

Lots of people at the coast near me apparently.

Someone said yesterday that they were planning to go to a local beauty spot, I just laughed and said "yeah, you and everyone else"

GenxfeellikeaBoomer · 21/03/2020 17:51

Are Italy's new cases per day STILL going up???

Piggywaspushed · 21/03/2020 18:01

On my local FB group, someone has challenged parents who have let their kids out to play/ wander in groups.

A response was 'it's not a school day. It's the weekend. Shrug emoji'

Jesus Wept.

Hannah021 · 21/03/2020 18:20

@Piggywaspushed lol so on the weekends its ok to pick up a virus... Shit parenting

Piggywaspushed · 21/03/2020 18:22

I think maybe viruses only happen during the week? Hmm

Falangalangadingdang · 21/03/2020 18:24

😂 a virus that complies to weekday 9-5 only is what people think we have then...

Twats, everyone who isn't complying and making me more annoyed by the minute is a brain dead fuckwit wanker bastard twat.

TheGreatWave · 21/03/2020 18:33

The thing is, technically, at the moment, most people are not actually doing anything wrong. We've been told we can still go to the shops for essentials (which could include anything) and go out for a walk/ fresh air, so they are.
Trouble is, so is everyone else and social distancing goes out the window.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/03/2020 18:34

London boroughs are empty because they have migrated to the south coast

Bringringbring12 · 21/03/2020 18:43

@allthegoodusernameshavegone

You don’t know London very well do you? Grin

Combined with being a little.... daft?

fussychica · 21/03/2020 18:47

But people are not just doing that. Lots of them are going to visit their mum's for Mother's Day. A 60 odd year old friend of mine who has just come out of hospital, with a husband in a high risk group, is going to visit her 80 odd year old mum tomorrow, along with her sister and they are having dinner together. I said are you mad she said it's ok we won't touch each other or get too close! I despair.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/03/2020 18:55

Thanks bringbring12 being daft is one of my traits, very observant of you.

Piggywaspushed · 21/03/2020 18:57

Couldn't have said it better myself falang !

pocketem · 21/03/2020 19:27

Same here. Really busy everywhere, and mostly a certain (high risk) generation all merrily jaunting around town. So frustrating that they won't take basic precautions to save themselves

cologne4711 · 21/03/2020 19:34

I didn't go into town today but my husband went in to get milk and said it was much much quieter than usual. So the picture seems to be quite mixed geographically.

dementedma · 21/03/2020 19:36

Seems fairly normal round here in central Scotland. Shops a bit quieter but not much. Plenty of people out and about

Passthecake30 · 21/03/2020 19:41

It was really quiet in my small town, Tescos car park was 2/3 empty compared to jam packed.

cologne4711 · 21/03/2020 19:47

Oh. I just looked at the BBC website. The reason my town was so quiet was because they were all at West Wittering beach.

CandyLeBonBon · 21/03/2020 19:47

I was out today. Walking my dog. She doesn't like other doggy company so I always isolate anyway. I was miles from anyone and made a specific point of avoiding any other humans. But there were HUNDREDS out. All walking together on the promenade. In close proximity. They were everywhere. It's scary.
I have to get the dog out for an hour or she climbs the walls and I've been trying to go to places where there won't be many people but it was way way busier than normal for a Saturday. I'll be finding somewhere new and out of the way tomorrow

cologne4711 · 21/03/2020 19:47

(whenever anyone in my town asks what the best beach is, everyone says West Wittering)

CandyLeBonBon · 21/03/2020 19:49

@cologne4711 we must be in the same neck of the woods - I love west wittering but it's crazy that people aren't taking this seriously. It's like not closing the beaches in Jaws, isn't it?

HolaWeenie · 21/03/2020 19:51

Up and out for a 6am run, I usually run the same route most Saturdays and sundays, I see a few cars around on Saturday and maybe encounter no more than 5 people on a 7 mile run, they are usually runners/dog walkers. Today I had to zigzag across roads to keep my distance from dozens of people! It was so busy out, most had bags of shopping.
