I need one loo roll a day

So I have been keeping track of it. I need one a day (if I'm working from home) and more when on my period.

My friend lives in a houseshare with two other people. She says they have 16 rolls at home, which is more than enough. She says that will last them a long time. How?

Just you in the household? 1 roll a day?

catflapuk · 21/03/2020 00:53

I have no issue with my toilet roll usage. But considering there isn't any in the shops I have tried to figure out how long I will last. And it isn't very long. I always thought other people would use a similar amount.

3 adults, approx 2rolls a werk (my elderly mum stays here and uses an excessive amount). Just us two, about 1/week.

Mistymonday · 21/03/2020 00:55

*a week

MrsEricBana · 21/03/2020 00:56

Well a roll a day is rather a lot isn't it, and you did ask.
This though, just no:
How many sheets do you use per time? If you use good quality paper you only need 1 for pees and maybe 2 for poos. When you’re at home it’s far cheaper to clean up heavy periods under the shower.

Slinkymalinky1 · 21/03/2020 00:57

Well depends on how much you've got. I'm guessing it won't last long no. Seriously though unless you're over using loo roll, you should probably see your GP re bladder or bowels, because this isn't normal.

neddle · 21/03/2020 00:58

My household of 7 only needs one roll a day.

Foobydoo · 21/03/2020 00:58

I use nearly a roll per day op.
My family of four easily use 12 per week, if not more.
I use much more than three slices for a wee never mind a poo! It is something I choose not to scrimp on.
I choose extra loo roll over extras such as costa coffee or subway/maccies.

Babyroobs · 21/03/2020 00:59

We go through one a day with 5 people in the house including two teenage boys !

ViserionTheDragon · 21/03/2020 01:01

One roll lasts about two weeks for me. I do have a shower bidet by the toilet though, that means I really don't need much. It's much more hygienic too. Can you perhaps try washing instead with a jug? That would help you reduce your toilet paper consumption, which is a lot IMHO.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 21/03/2020 01:01

I know I’m bad and I do use too much toilet roll, but even then one roll would last me several days at the least if I was on my own. Surely we have a maths expert here who can calculate how many poo’s and wee’s you would need to do in one day to go through that much!!!!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 21/03/2020 01:03

Wish i had the digestive tract of those of you on 2 sheets per poo!
Like op im a roll a day person, however this is due to both IBS, prolapse and OCD.

I'm well stocked for a few months at any given time though, due to said anxiety disorder about running out.

Im struggling far more with the complete inability to get dettol spray which i use on a can a day basis again thanks to said OCD, that is quite panicking me.

Slinkymalinky1 · 21/03/2020 01:03

But as a family of 3 (family of 4 when ds is home) we also choose not to ration toilet paper, we do not go through 3-4 rolls a day! That's ridiculous! I comfortably wipe my arse without being ridiculous

SilverySurfer · 21/03/2020 01:03

I don't understand how you use one a day unless you're wrapping yourself in it. No wonder drains get clogged up. I live alone and one roll lasts me over two weeks, nearer three.

SallySun123 · 21/03/2020 01:04

Are you a scruncher or a folder? Folders use less, it’s more efficient.

midlifecrash · 21/03/2020 01:04

I've just bought a bum jug, or "handheld bidet" - you can pour warm water over yourself after pooing, then there is much less to wipe and yon only need 2 sheets.

My mum has a special water jet hose on her loo, even more effective, you squirt yourself until clean. Maybe look into this?

GetawayfromthatWelshtart · 21/03/2020 01:07

Jesus..

I have IBS-D; have attacks EVERY DAY (today was 6 panic runs to the loo) and even with a man who does HUGE poos twice a day we have never ever gotten through a whole roll in a day!

Maybe max 2 a week (if my bowels are REALLY playing up)

Are you using tracing paper thin loo roll?? Really cheap rolls or teeny weeny rolls?

Cos if I can clean my poor exploding arse without using a whole bloody roll in a day without my fingers going through the paper then I'm pretty sure you can manage it. fold a few sheets and wipe and repeat.

(Once in a while he will nick a roll when he gets man flu for nose blowing but thats rare).

And if you are home and having a heavy period then use flannels to clean up. Easy, cheaper, quicker and cleaner. Just wet, wipe, rinse and then wash. (I do this!)

Slinkymalinky1 · 21/03/2020 01:07

I'm assuming any additional needs such as IBS would have been disclosed at this point otherwise whole thread would be irrelevant 🤷‍♀️

lboogy · 21/03/2020 01:08

I've never heard anything so ridiculous. I'm sure this is a troll post

SimplySteveRedux · 21/03/2020 01:08

Giving the benefit of the doubt here, do you have several 17-21 year old boys in your household? Then I'd probably understand

GrinGrin

catflapuk · 21/03/2020 01:10

I just went and it turns out I blow my nose with it too. I used 3 sheet for that.

I tried to cut down to two for wiping. It needs some getting used to in this crisis.

But generally I am not looking to cut down, thanks. We all have our luxuries don't we.

catflapuk · 21/03/2020 01:13

I use Waitrose own brand. It's quite thin. I never put much thought into which one to use. I just look.at the price. Hm maybe worth looking into it. But then what is the difference between using lots of thin sheet and fewer if thick sheet.

KatesMott · 21/03/2020 01:14

@catflapuk I’m on about one a day too and I rarely have periods. I always internet buy 60 rolls at a time and by luck was only a week into the last order when toilet roll started having a bigger street value than cocaine. I buy 4 ply, rarely shit more than 2/3 times a week but use toilet roll for loads of things including drying my hands. As vices go I’ve never been too perturbed by this, each to their own, though no doubt I’m going to be told I’m going to hell by most on mumsnet who use one square a week and then dry it on the radiator to reuse 🙄

catflapuk · 21/03/2020 01:16

Well, it nice to know I'm not the only one.

OP posts:
Isla727 · 21/03/2020 01:19

Surely this depends how many times you go? I must have some sort of IBS thing as I go 5-7x/day and get through way too much loo roll. Sorry TMI!
