I need one loo roll a day

So I have been keeping track of it. I need one a day (if I'm working from home) and more when on my period.

My friend lives in a houseshare with two other people. She says they have 16 rolls at home, which is more than enough. She says that will last them a long time. How?

OP posts:

We go through a roll a week for 2 adults. I'm going to blow some people's minds by mentioning the words "family cloth". It's what we'll do if we run out. We'll use our daughter's reusable cloth wipes and save ourselves some money! You must spend a fortune on toilet paper OP! I couldn't be doing that.

We do the same. In fact, it can be a couple of days before one of us actually gets a loo roll out of the cupboard once we’ve finished one!

ffswhatnext · 21/03/2020 20:25

As long as the cloths aren't shared, nothing wrong with it. In the past when we've run out, old t-shirts and a pair of scissors quickly sorted it out.

SciFiScream · 21/03/2020 20:37

Family of four. We buy a 9 pack every week but always have 2 or 3 left over when we replace the pack. So I think we use about 6-7 rolls a week.

inappropriateraspberry · 21/03/2020 21:28

FIFTY sheets a time?!?! How...why....just....? I think there is a serious problem here OP, and you need to get it addressed.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 21/03/2020 21:32

Well stop eating it and wipe yourself with it

2 sheets a well, 3-4 a poo is more than enough

freddiethegreat · 21/03/2020 21:36

My son has Crohn’s disease, so a serious bowel condition - & obviously there are two of us. I find it very frustrating how much loo roll we (he) use, but it’s not that much! 3 a week, perhaps. And that seems loads to me.

MissGuernsey · 21/03/2020 21:36

Use wet toilet wipes. Flushable and get you far cleaner than dry. Lidl had some tonight.

Lozz22 · 21/03/2020 21:39

1 a day!! I didn't even use 2 full rolls in a week when I was miscarrying and flooding blood and clots out. The only time mine ran out quicker was when I got a morrisons value pack and a full roll was the equivalent of a half a roll on a decent brand.

inappropriateraspberry · 21/03/2020 21:39

@missguernsey they are NOT flushable. But they would be a good alternative as long as they are binned.

Pinkerpellosa · 21/03/2020 21:41

MissGuernsey
Beware - just because something is flushable ie will disappear when flushed does not mean it belongs in the sewer system. Have you not heard of fatbergs??

MulhuddartDrive · 21/03/2020 23:58

Everyone needs this in your lives..

@FortunesFave my 7 DD does a good impression of an Andrex puppy; you can go in to find it everywhere. This is why I'm now hiding it

I always buy the cheapest loo roll available. Because of the loo roll shortage we have found ourselves with some super thick quilted stuff.

I must say it’s a bit of a revelation. Far less is needed though, maybe not even half as much as I would normally use.*

Maybe this is where we are going wrong; we go for the cheap stuff

CatAndHisKit · 22/03/2020 01:28

wow OP, why do you need to wipe TEN times (four sheets each)?
Try wet wipes - maybe they will make you feel clean sooner, it's like you don't register that you aer clean enough haha. And you would be after 4-5 thick wipes surely!

SciFiScream · 22/03/2020 08:50

We've managed to cut down on toilet paper and stop using wet wipes altogether by using a foamy wash on toilet roll.

We make our own. That might help cut down on the ten wipes with four sheets each time after a poo?

Hoggleludo · 22/03/2020 14:38

Wait. Did I just read you use sheets to cover the bowl @catflapuk ?!?!?

WTH?!? You don't ever want to clean your toilet?

Toilet brush. Just scrub?!?

Hoggleludo · 22/03/2020 14:39

And wiping it after use?

How often do you miss the toilet?!?!?

Am I missing something?!?

Bit of spray? Sponge. Surely if you make it that messy when you wee and poop?

HugoAvril · 22/03/2020 14:44

Me too, everyone had different needs. I have had a hemicolectomy, loperamide doesn't help, I use water bottles to clean with also, but still need more toilet roll than most. My bowels are complaining at the change in food too, due to my usual diet choices being unavailable. It's really crap.

lynsey91 · 22/03/2020 14:52

Me and DH get through 2 rolls a week or less. I use 1 sheet for a wee and 2 sheets x 3 or 4 for a poo. Only poo once a day normally and wee maybe 5 times a day.

Peanutbutteryogurt · 22/03/2020 15:00

10 wipes after one poo? That's mad. It sounds like the issue here is very messy poos, I don't think that's the norm amongst healthy adults.

BunnytheBee · 22/03/2020 15:01

You use a lot of toilet paper OP

I actually think the Asian countries have it figured out. After having visited a number of European and Asian countries, where they use water to clean and have bidet toilets and bidet hoses, I have had a bidet hose installed.

The truth is you can’t get properly clean using toilet paper so it’s easy to use a lot.

I love my hose. I feel clean and use a tiny bit of paper to dry after cleaning off.

BunnytheBee · 22/03/2020 15:02

You can use a squirt it water bottle if you don’t have a bidet.

Toilet brush. Just scrub?!?

Let’s not get started on toilet brushes

BunnytheBee · 22/03/2020 15:03

Use wet toilet wipes

I stopped using these after learning they are bad for the environment even though they say flushable on the pack.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/03/2020 15:15

Toys be lucky to get your hands on any wipes tbh where I live, there is nothing remotely like that.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/03/2020 15:16
