OP posts:
TheLadyAnneNeville · 22/03/2020 17:27

😊

SubjectMatterExpert · 22/03/2020 17:27

@TheLadyAnneNeville my husband WANTS the letter, as evidence for his employer. He is still working 14 hour days! He will almost certainly die if he catches CV

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 17:29

Letters going out also texts and phone calls to inform all high risk patients that they must stay in for 12 weeks.

SubjectMatterExpert · 22/03/2020 17:30

@Iamamoleinthegarden people on here are almost unanimously wanting Boris to send a STRONGER message. Definitely NOT the people who are gathering at supermarkets

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 17:34

Doesn't seem to include elderly. 1.5 million pp
This includes people living with severe respiratory conditions, specific cancers, and some people with immunosuppressant conditions

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 17:35

Johnson is literally incapable of speaking lucidly - burble burble burble

SubjectMatterExpert · 22/03/2020 17:38

@littlerootie yep! He can only talk about business and economy. This is total beyond him. He doesn’t care about people and he doesn’t understand science. This is what you get if you let a fucking newspaper columnists run a fucking country

Sign and share if you agree Borris isn't doing enough !

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 17:44

Actually have to disagree with you there Subject - he knows nothing about business and the economy either. He knows how to 'do Boris', - it's worked well lately but no more. He looks just like the shallow idiot he really is.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 17:48

Congregating people are dangerous

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 17:49

From Jenny, she’s very good.

hamstersarse · 22/03/2020 17:54

Boris is also taking advice from the Behavioural Insights people which is why his message is constantly about personal responsibility and that we all have to play our part.

The evidence around getting people to change their health behaviours is really clear - it is incredibly difficult. Think of how many people still smoke despite knowing it actually kills you. Or obesity and how many people still stuff their faces with chocolate and laugh about it.

I personally think that what they are trying to do is create the 'shaming' conditions that means we start to police one another - "we are all doing it and YOU are not, YOU are the one who will kill people"

It is working (see this thread and all of MN) and will be MUCH more powerful in the long-term than enforced and policed lockdowns.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 17:56

I did agree with Jenny that that one walk 2m apart once a day could be vital for better mh. It’s hard to take that away. Everyone else needs to let that happen. Hard though as the masses are very stubborn.

GinnyStrupac · 22/03/2020 17:58

After the selfish and downright dangerous mass behaviour seen outside my own rural window and on the news, I can not understand why lockdown has not been brought in. Non essential shops everywhere, caravan parks, holiday lets and hotels for tourists must be closed, people must be prevented from all non essential travel out of their own primary home areas, whether that be a city, a town, village or rural area. The evidence is there that people can not be trusted to do the right thing. Boris needs to be advised to show true leadership on this, and stop faffing around.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 17:59

I think in France they can walk once (more) a day. They could do that.

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 18:07

I don't want lockdown either hamster but anyone can see the current guidance is so far not working (MN is no indicator of the general population)

I think they should forget wheeling Johnson out for these briefings - he's just useless at them. Get an official spokesperson to give clear, straighforward information and instruction - it doesn't have to be an MP or scientist, just someone with a voice of authority.

And also get a public information campaign going - get posters up, leaflets delivered, TV and radio adverts - make it clear and severe to ensure everyone gets the message.

GinnyStrupac · 22/03/2020 18:09

We should be able to go for a little walk and fresh air well away from other people in our own little area, for physical and mental wellbeing, but we can not because the selfish and stupid hordes have descended from the nearest cities and big towns. We are in the 12 weeks group. We need these people so lacking in community spirit and common sense to be kept away, for their own wellbeing as well as our own. Come on Boris, the time for home travel restrictions was last Friday, before this weekend - pull your finger out.

CendrillonSings · 22/03/2020 19:26

So as usual, we get pages of moaning bullshit that the PM has taken the weekend off. He then naturally turns up to give the daily briefing, and what follows? More pages of moaning bullshit...

BuzzingtheBee · 22/03/2020 20:11

Really shocked that Boris is giving the go ahead as long as children keep 2 metres apart😳 Firstly, thats not realistic secondly, they will be touching a bit of equipment then another child will touch it... they were talking about people being in the countryside touching the same gate and spreading it!!

Today, I just felt like Boris needed to be ALOT more assertive and clear, so everyone understands what they HAVE to do.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 22/03/2020 20:15

@SubjectMatterExpert, yes I can see how that would be useful to people. Even so, overall I don’t think Mr Johnson is up to this. I think we’ll see someone like Jeremy Hunt taking over the helm, eventually.

SubjectMatterExpert · 22/03/2020 20:23

@theladyanneneville huh?

TheLadyAnneNeville · 22/03/2020 20:30

Watching BJ at these op daily press releases, I just don’t think he’s got what it takes. I’m not saying he’ll resign but I really think another will take over. Just an opinion. Just a thought. I’m allowed to do that @subjectmatterExpert. This is a public forum.

The80sweregreat · 22/03/2020 20:34

Mixed messages. It's been like it for weeks.

alloutoffucks · 22/03/2020 20:35

@CendrillonSings Seriously are you expecting people to praise him because he turned up?

alloutoffucks · 22/03/2020 20:38

Children keeping 2 metres apart!! Has he actually ever spent more than 5 minutes with his own children? Because if he had he would know that that is simply not realistic.
But he had given the green light to every idiot who wants to take their kids to a playground or even a kids party - because the Prime Minister said it was fine. Strewth.
