Totally out of his fucking depth

OP posts:
Gooseysgirl · 19/03/2020 17:48

He is a dick... still no list of key workers. How the hell are schools and key workers supposed to plan ahead for next week! We needed that list at 9am this morning. I am so angry Angry

Fluffybutter · 19/03/2020 17:50

What do you all want him to say?? He can’t tell you anything new if there isn’t anything new to tell!
He’s a mouthpiece ,not a doctor or scientist and anyone would be out of their depth in this clusterfuck

Grandmi · 19/03/2020 17:50

Well that was a waste of a half an hour of my life!!

Fluffybutter · 19/03/2020 17:52

@AlternativePerspective Amen.. It’s bloody hard work reading that day in ,day out from the same people !

isseywith4vampirecats · 19/03/2020 17:52

I work at tgi Fridays just had a message to say closed after tomorrows last service so don't know if I will have any pay as they have self closed, and my other job is looking like that will follow next week and as its a small cat charity it might finish them off all together as no fundraising events and without them they don't cover costs

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/03/2020 17:52

YANBU OP. I thought he was getting better but today we had a return of Classic Boris: Waffly, bumbling, smirking and grasping at soundbites.Angry

He instills no confidence in me.Sad

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/03/2020 17:53

I'm not a fan of the conservatives or Boris for that matter, but I'm not sure what you're all expecting? He came across as quite sincere to me.

He doesn't have all the answers. Every single aspect of our government is affected, think how much information has to be gathered, policy, legislation etc.. The most important thing is to preserve life, surely? Then deal with the economic impact? I appreciate the uncertainty, we are all facing it. Be fair though, no one person is going to have all the answers at this point.

Womenwotlunch · 19/03/2020 17:54

I think that he was absolutely awful, even for Boris.
Trump’s briefing was also terrible.
Heaven help us

Borisdaspide · 19/03/2020 17:55

I'm not sure what you're all expecting?

How about he admits that lockdown is actually necessary, rather than waffling round it?

MT2017 · 19/03/2020 17:55

Not even providing schools with a list of what are keyworkers but announcing keyworkers' children can stay at school - how the hell does that work? Hmm

ElectricMartha · 19/03/2020 17:57

I think they need to get money to people faster and then shut the bars/restaurants/clubs down . It make no sense that they’re open but people are being told they must stay out of them if we are to get this into a containment situation.

I hope from now until his next conference is spent sorting out how businesses are going to keep afloat and how people who are already struggling can put food on the table and keep warm.

As multiple threads on here show, people have lost their jobs and more will lose them in a day or so. employers can’t keep people on unless they receive money now.

Boris just waffled without actually managing to say anything of much use

WattsandAwl · 19/03/2020 17:57

"Are you finding this useful?" he asks the press.

Well, how else would us lesser mortals know what's going on??!

Such smugness. I have absolutely no confidence in the waffling buffoon.

WattsandAwl · 19/03/2020 17:59

He couldn't even remember how many press conferences he'd done on the issue.

I presume you're being sarcastic Firelink

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/03/2020 18:01

@Borisdaspide but he's saying behave yourselves, act responsibly, take this seriously, follow the guidelines and the government will not need to take such action?

He's given a plan of action and a time line on dealing with the pandemic. Now he'll move on to the social and economic impact. Saving lives first...

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/03/2020 18:01

Even during Armageddon the goady cunts still walk among us

user1497997754 · 19/03/2020 18:02

So does anyone on here think Jeremy Corbyn could do a better job. The same Jeremy Corbyn who paid privately for himself, wife and son to have the coronavirus test in a hospital.....a hospital where they don't have enough tests for people who have the symptoms of the virus....where the staff there were told to keep quiet about it .....or loose thier jobs. I prefer Boris anyday

It could have been much worse thank goodness it isn’t Jeremy Corbyn.

Redbonnie · 19/03/2020 18:03

I have been supporting Boris despite being a (New) Labour supporter. That press conference was the moment I lost all faith. Churchill my arse. If he thinks we can beat this in 12 weeks why the hell is he letting so many of us catch it? As someone else said out of his depth....total chancer.

Thinkingabout1t · 19/03/2020 18:03

We need someone who recognises what essential information people need to have, and gets that information from his advisers and communicates it clearly.
Also, someone who can see the effects of the action we're having to take (eg people laid off work, small businesses in trouble, children off school needing care etc), and finds out what he needs to do to protect those in difficulties as much as possible, and then takes that action.

He doesn't have to do the bloody research himself, ffs -- he has civil servants to do it all. He just has to tell them what he needs.
But he hasn't a clue.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 19/03/2020 18:06

People voted for the supposedly loveable clown. What did they think would happen when the UK had a crisis? Or did they not look beyond the slogans?

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/03/2020 18:06

'@firelink Has your stock pile of meds finally run out?' @Keepcalmanddoyourbit no need for that kind of comment. Shows you for the gf you are!

Justaboy · 19/03/2020 18:06

It could have been much worse thank goodness it isn’t Jeremy Corbyn.

Boris isnt that good but what is worse!.
