Totally out of his fucking depth

OP posts:
Alsohuman · 22/03/2020 11:21

Thank you, it’s really appreciated. 💐

tobee · 22/03/2020 11:22
Thanks

I know it's a tense time and mistakes are easily made

Alsohuman · 22/03/2020 11:32

Kind of you to say so. It’s a timely reminder to be more careful - and less confrontational. A lesson I badly needed, I suspect. It’s a great shame I had to upset you to learn it.

tobee · 22/03/2020 11:48

Oh no, please don't be hard on yourself, Also. The nasty posters on here would not have apologised, just slung in some more vitriol.

jasjas1973 · 22/03/2020 12:52

Only Germany out of the West is doing particularly well afaik. Lots of cases low death rate. Would be good to know why

Germany has an advanced health care system that makes ours look like 3rd world, they test in the community, isolate and treat early.
Germany has many times the numbers of doctors, nurses and hospital beds than the UK.
We've always prioritised tax cuts over public services.

Merkel is also a leader that people listen too, isn't her nickname some derivative of "mother of the nation" ?

However, its early days for Europe, we don't yet know how this is going to pan out.

LondonLass61 · 22/03/2020 13:56

Where's Boris - has he taken the weekend off...?

LittleLittleLittle · 22/03/2020 13:58

@LondonLass61 he's gone to have some sleep.

LondonLass61 · 22/03/2020 14:02

I'm sure he could have spared a few minutes to update the nation,
As the elected prime minister
During a crisis

tobee · 22/03/2020 14:18

Probably very naive but I had hoped we'd have heard more about these new testing measures rolling out? Hope the frontline workers are getting them in the very near future.

tobee · 22/03/2020 14:19

But they will need to be continually tested i believe.

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 14:40

Where's Boris - has he taken the weekend off...?

Of course - I mean, he turned up for the briefings monday to friday, what more do you want! Also, the virus is inactive at weekends so it's all fine..

hamstersarse · 22/03/2020 15:10

I think it is very unreasonable of you to expect him never to take a break. He will be working all hours, but there is absolutely no doubt that if he never takes a break of any kind that will not be good for his wellbeing (and decision making!)

LittleRootie · 22/03/2020 15:32

He had a nice long break all over xmas and new year - didn't seem to help his decision-making much

Oakmaiden · 22/03/2020 15:43

I think it is very unreasonable of you to expect him never to take a break.

He is the Prime Minister in an emergency situation. He shouldn't be taking a fucking break. (Of course, he might not be - he might just have much more important Prime Ministery things to do than talk to the press - and by extension - the people. But he does seem to vanish at weekends...)

SpokeTooSoon · 22/03/2020 16:07

I think he’s doing a good job.

Those who disagree are largely not Conservative voters so it’s rather a moot point. Nothing a Conservative PM did would please them. Other than resign and even then they’d gripe.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 22/03/2020 16:08

FFS MN if you think you can do better get up there and do it.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 22/03/2020 16:09

@SpokeTooSoon
Thanks

I can make you a solemn promise now, if Bozo resigns I will not gripe!

He said the other day that we are in a 'War Time' situation. PM's don't have the weekend off in War Time - he's supposed to be so Churchillian, he's nothing of the sort.

What happened to be kind shameful OP and the country is behind him

Be kind? Are you kidding me? You think a stupid social media meme of "be kind" is a reason not to criticise the person who is prime minster? 😡 Are people really this stupid? You know they're elected officials right? Criticism kind of comes with the job. Unless of course you're a fan of something a little more authoritarian.

As for "be kind" that'll be the last thing I do towards a government that's using the current situation as an excuse to remove disabled people's right to care and support. Which apparently no-one seems to care about. But why should I be surprised? Most people didn't give a fuck about disabled people before, I was stupid to expect any different now.
Oh suddenly now people are aware of how little benefits and sick pay are. Funny how no-one seemed to care when it was disabled people saying that. But now it's affecting everyone else, oh yeah, now it matters.
So yeah, I'm having a bit of trouble with the concept of "being kind" right now.

Clavinova · 22/03/2020 16:44

he might just have much more important Prime Ministery things to do than talk to the press - and by extension - the people.

The press seem to think he has spoken to the people today with his open letter;

"Today is Mother's Day. It is a day when we celebrate the sacrifice and the effort of those who gave us life, and across the country I know that millions of people will have been preparing to do something special; not just a card, not just flowers. I know that everyone's strongest instinct is to go and see their mothers in person, to have a meal together, to show them how much you love them."

"But I am afraid that this Mothering Sunday the single best present that we can give - we who owe our mothers so much - is to spare them the risk of catching a very dangerous disease. The sad news is, that means staying away" ...

Absolute rubbish. Right now I don't care which party he's in. Can you imagine Margaret Thatcher dithering like this? He's not up to the job. The other European leaders are clear, concise and authoritative. He is not.

I'm watching Sturgeon on tv right now and whatever I think of her politics, she is very impressive.

Alsohuman · 22/03/2020 16:52

Not true, I for one think Sunak’s doing an incredible job. I seriously think he’s our next PM - or at least I hope he is - and the sooner, the better.

1forsorrow · 22/03/2020 16:58

Sunak certainly seems more impressive than Boris, or Hancock, Raab and where is Gove?
