What is he saying? I am at work.

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 14:08

Oh for gods sake shut the bloody schools. Then idiots will take it seriously and kids will stop spreading it all over the place.

'BNO Newsroom
Coronavirus updates:

  • Germany: 702 new cases, 3 new deaths
  • Netherlands: 292 new cases, 19 new deaths
  • Malaysia: 120 new cases, 2 new deaths
  • Portugal: 117 new cases'

Germany is Massaging the figures - The premier of NRW said 4 died in that state alone in the last 24 hours but only three died nationwide.

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 14:09

Sorry! Under 50.

Angryrant55 · 17/03/2020 14:09

Norman Smith - 'Social distancing measures shd reduce peak of #coronavirus in UK by about 50% says CMO.'

danni0509 · 17/03/2020 14:09

He can't answer the important question people want to know, have children died?

Angryrant55 · 17/03/2020 14:10

Peter A Smith - 'Coronavirus update Scotland: 195 tested positive for COVID-19. 24 new cases. 2 deaths.

49 Greater Glasgow & Clyde, 30 Lothian, 26 Grampian, 21 Lanarkshire, 6 Ayrshire, 12 Forth Valley, 7 Fife, 20 Tayside, 11 Shetland, 7 Borders, 5 Highland, 1 in Dumfries & Galloway.'

Angryrant55 · 17/03/2020 14:12

Vicki Young - 'Chief Scientific Adviser says number of deaths from #coronavirus could be below 20 thousand which would be “a good outcome, but still horrible'

Norman Smith '55,000 people infected with #coronavirus in UK is "a reasonable ballpark figure" says Chief Scientific officer.'

BNO Newsroom - 'NEW: Brazil reports first death from coronavirus as number of cases hits 300.'

istherelifeafter40 · 17/03/2020 14:13

Apologies if this has been discussed, but do you think it is a total lie about the scientists from Imperial "realising they made a mistake"? Why do they expect to take the blame? This is just laughable. Literally anyone could calculate the number of deaths from the government's strategy (actually higher than they quote).

What do you think really made them change course? The fact that #boristhebutcher was the highest trending on Twitter during the weekend? Failure to convince people to die quietly?

istherelifeafter40 · 17/03/2020 14:13

Sorry not expect to take the blame, but why did the scientists accepted to take the blame?

Horehound · 17/03/2020 14:14

NHS greater Glasgow and Clyde are saying it has same death rate as flu???

Sage said we need more testing.

Sir Patrick said huge work is being done to test but we mn know that's gone. Lost total control on testing.

How are you spotting the crk storm. Second phase immune reaction.

In the Netherlands, majority of people in ITU with Covid-19 are under 50.
One is 16.

Sky News Breaking - 'Buckingham Palace says the Queen will be moving to Windsor Castle temporarily from 19 March and several events including garden parties will be postponed.'

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 14:15

Initial dose of exposure could affect if you get the mild version or the bad version. Ie health care workers are at risk

KOKOagainandagain · 17/03/2020 14:15

Around about 4:30 this video from Peak Prosperity shows graphs showing the impact on flattening the curve of early intervention by comparing two Italian towns

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 14:17

Find, isolate, treat.

But we stopped this. Is it now the priority to test?

So due to capacity we have to put it in place where its more critical.

It's due to lack of capacity why we havant tested Shockpeople thought it was not neccsary.

defthand · 17/03/2020 14:18

I raised that point about half the Netherlands ITUs being under 50 a few days back and got abused for spreading fake news. Hmm

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 14:19

Jeremy is so 😡. He looks furious.

Sir Patrick. We need to ramp up testing and have good date flows.

Hunt : Korea, greatest success. They are testing 10 times more people. Is that the scale we are looking at.

Sir Patrick agrees we need massive increase in testing. Community based test.

Hunt :time scales?

Quartz2208 · 17/03/2020 14:20

Netherlands is interesting - if you look it up it appears that there is a low number of ICU cases (96)

nltimes.nl/2020/03/17/96-dutch-icu-coronavirus-hospitals-running-low-masks

this appears to be because of how it was spread at a carnival so a high number of cases are young so the data still fits

www.iamexpat.nl/expat-info/dutch-expat-news/half-dutch-coronavirus-intensive-care-patients-are-under-50

www.dutchnews.nl/news/2020/03/coronavirus-half-of-dutch-intensive-care-patients-are-under-50/

So one assumes the Netherlands need to avoid it hitting the older population as once it does those figures will no longer hold true

Sunshinesky1981 · 17/03/2020 14:20

Breaking - 'Buckingham Palace says the Queen will be moving to Windsor Castle temporarily from 19 March and several events including garden parties will be postponed.'

.... Probably a deliberate move to make it harder for Boris to visitGrin

Justforthislifetime · 17/03/2020 14:22

Wonder when today’s UK Cases info will be updated?

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 17/03/2020 14:22
