UK lockdown indefinite until a coronavirus vaccine is found, warn scientists advising government t.co/xOLfdpxJ7c

The mood in schools is frenzied and panicked. It's awful, kids are scared.

Some are sending kids in that shouldn't. Loads off.

Kids saying they feel on edge. There is no hand gel.

We are 10 teachers down. Kids being escorted from lessons for two week isolation.

It's awful. Did the modelling take this into account.

Feel like begging for help.

Public Health Wales Statement

“We can confirm that 12 new cases have tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Wales, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 136.
“As we are currently only testing within hospitals, this is likely to underestimate the true number of cases.

At least they are honest about it.

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 13:10

No word on testing for service user.
Have cobbled staff together til tomorrow morning.
Company have offered staff lots of cash to come in, no takers yet.
No word from local authority or primary care.
No forthcoming face masks-we run out this evening....
Just spoke to duty social work team who have 'made a note of the situation' (having lost the note they made last night). So helpful GrinAngry

Rinoachicken · 17/03/2020 13:12

@MurrayTheMonk I work in an adult day centre. (LD) We’ve been told that if (when) we close, they will
look to redeploy us into homes.

Rinoachicken · 17/03/2020 13:18

We are local authority run

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 13:20

Well let's hope they hurry up. Incredibly day centres are still open near me. That's where I think he got it from

Rinoachicken · 17/03/2020 13:26

@MurrayTheMonk I don’t understand why we are still open. All our adults who attend are as such huge risk and are also super spreaders!

Aurea · 17/03/2020 13:31

Just found out my teenage DS's best pal has had the symptoms since Sat. Temp, cough, achey etc. They were together all last week.

My DS seems fine. However just this morning (before I found out about his friend), my glands have swollen up and my chest felt tight and a little painful when walking up a hill, dog walking. The chest pain is usual although it is mild.

Should I be worried? Thx.

Cheeseismylife · 17/03/2020 13:37

Anyone know, if fco now advising against all travel can I finally claim on my travel insurance for upcoming trips? Or will they wiggle out of it because my destination isn't specifically mentioned?

MurrayTheMonk · 17/03/2020 13:44

Rinoachicken-because The government has probably not even thought about it I suppose. Someone somewhere needs to man up and make some sensible choices.

It's sad but not surprising how quickly care services fall to pieces. Years of underfunding and undervaluing the work coming home to roost.

Sunshinesky1981 · 17/03/2020 13:59

@Cheeseismylife you will need to check your policy as some allow you to cancel if you are upto 30 days of travel, some are as low as 7 days before travel, but nearly all of them will ask you to contact your travel agent/provider first

Feelingsolost1 · 17/03/2020 14:02

Just spent two hours in a virtual queue to get onto the Ocado website to amend an order, when I got there the website crashed, can't log on, book a slot or view the shop.
