Nurseries?

CrunchyCarrot · 18/03/2020 17:24

He's on the BBC right now (news 24)

PleaseStopCrying · 18/03/2020 17:24

What channel is boris supposed to be on?
BBC1

Carlislemumof4 · 18/03/2020 17:25

Relieved school is closing. My Year 5 dd had been helping get home learning packs ready.

I'm not expecting them to be back before the start of the new school year in September.

TheElementsOfMedical · 18/03/2020 17:25

Has he mentioned universities?

To be fair I suspect a lot of universities already made the decision to close. The uni where I work already announced closure to staff unofficially yesterday and officially today.

waspfig · 18/03/2020 17:25

Williamson said colleges early years settings etc too.

Schools should make provision for key workers children and vulnerable children.

Nurseries and private schools should close.

Making provisions for meal vouchers for FSM children

SistemaAddict · 18/03/2020 17:25

Asking nurseries and private schools to close too.

Vouchers for FSM children.

waspfig · 18/03/2020 17:25

Exams will not take place as usual in May/June

Eeyoresstickhouse · 18/03/2020 17:27

TheElements not where I work. We are still being told for staff its business as usual! Students have moved to online as of today.

waspfig · 18/03/2020 17:27

Remind parents that children shouldn't be left with older relatives.

Want to thank families for their sacrifice at this time.

Thank teachers head teachers and support staff

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 18/03/2020 17:27

I hope the joined up thinking has planned how one uses FSM vouchers when one is isolated at home... given that milk vouchers can't be used online

waspfig · 18/03/2020 17:28

Schools are also not dangerous places for staff... I'm sure I'm not alone in knowing teaching and school staff who would say otherwise. Hmm

Angryrant55 · 18/03/2020 17:30

Sebastian Payne- ' Boris Johnson says “we will not hesitate to go further and faster in the next few days” in combatting coronavirus.Possibly a hint at the impending lockdown of London.'

danni0509 · 18/03/2020 17:31

My ds with SN has an educational health care plan so school remains open for him.

Would I get into trouble for not sending him should I decide not to?!

Will have to speak to his 1-1 in the morning, not sure where I stand.

Lynamic · 18/03/2020 17:32

I wish universities would just suspend studies. I'm going to fail because i just don't have the time with all this

PleaseStopCrying · 18/03/2020 17:33

Would I get into trouble for not sending him should I decide not to?!

Absoloutly not. All schools around here have been marking children who are absent with codes simular to those used on snow days. No one is going to admonish you for taking him out.

SansaSnark · 18/03/2020 17:33

Gavin Williamson mentioned unis- he supported those who were moving things online, but not sure he said anything solid about closing any still open.

Are any still open?

Spiraeah · 18/03/2020 17:33

Are nurseries closed too?

XXYY · 18/03/2020 17:34

Exams not in May/June, but said would make sure they get the right qualifications... didn't say whether exams cancelled altogether or postponed? Would SATs just be cancelled as no qualification is involved?

anonacfr · 18/03/2020 17:34

Does that mean they are keeping all SN schools open full time?

AvocadoOwl · 18/03/2020 17:34

I wish universities would just suspend studies. I'm going to fail because i just don't have the time with all this

Agreed. I'm in the same position.

XXYY · 18/03/2020 17:35

Pre-school and private schools and colleges also closed

Eeyoresstickhouse · 18/03/2020 17:35

@SansaSnark yes Bournemouth Uni is still open. Online learning for students. Business as usual for staff. Now with schools and nurseries closing I am screwed.

danni0509 · 18/03/2020 17:36

@anonacfr I think some sn schools have been forced to closed due to not enough staff to pupil ratio. That's what I read anyway.

Ds is still clinging on in mainstream with ehcp with full time 1-1.
