Oh do fuck off, schools are not a dangerous place. What an absolute bunch of murderous bastards. I am so livid with the response of this country.

I think there will be growing pressures on unis to close. If you're badly affected, definitely talk to uni tutors/welfare teams. They will want to help you.

So are children of nurses still to attend school?

How did he respond when asked what he will do re London basically ignoring advice to socially isolate? Missed the answer...

@SansaSnark that won't help staff! If I have to take off for childcare with schools and nurseries closing I won't get paid. If they shut themselves I will get paid. I will lose everything if I don't get paid. We have no savings.

@MurrayTheMonk he alluded to the fact that there is the option to bring forward measures - vague but I think that could mean a curfew. He thanked those who are complying

We're all still expected to take exams. I think an exam can be delayed by a month or two

@Eeyoresstickhouse I didn't realise you were staff. Are you in a union? Are they able to help you at all right now?

What about a child whose parent works some weekday's but not others - say a nurse doing friday - Monday with midweek off.

BoJo says schools may rationalise provision in the future. Not all schools will be required to provide care

What classes as a key worker?

The hard of thinking who are struggling with the social distancing will not get the "schools are closed from Friday until further notice." and then "children of key workers should still go to school on Monday." It'll be chaos unless they are very clear.

Still so soft on advice

It is instruction not advice argh

I'm torn between accepting it and getting the virus over with, then I can volunteer with NHS. Or taking my dc and renting somewhere rural. I'm getting this awful trapped feeling here though

So what's going to happen to parents/single parents now who have lost their job . How can I look for work if I also have to look after my child full time. To claim JSA I have to be available for work ?!? How is this going to work??

I would love to know the answer to this too. You would think the sensible thing to do would be to have a list ready and uploaded online before making the announcement. Or is that just wishful thinking??

Wishful thinking. And how does this tally with the vulnerable who will be told to stay in for 3 months from the weekend? Or whatever it was?
