My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

You should all be self isolating!!

I have sore throat, achy neck, sore eyes, headache. My daughter also has tight chest. We are all staying in for 2 weeks.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 16/03/2020 23:16

Think the government is way off with the continuous cough description.
Would be better to say at the moment if you feel unwell, self isolate. The continuous risks is puzzling folk.

RhubarbTea · 16/03/2020 23:16

I currently have a tight achy chest, it hurts at my breastbone. I have had a very mild cold, and been a bit under the weather. And a few headaches. Thought it was just stress. The chest thing is weird and I don't remember ever having this pain, it only proper hurts when I take a deep breath. It's horrible.

hollieberrie · 16/03/2020 23:16

I also had to take my bra off! I can't bear to wear it. Also feel bit worse in evenings.

angell84 · 16/03/2020 23:18

I think that wire bras are really bad for our chests anyway. They are constrictive:

I havent worn a wire one in ages, now I wear a soft bra top thing from penneys

I'm really surprised that you went to the dr. My surgery are only doing video consultations if you have anything remotely like coronavirus.

Wanderlust21 · 16/03/2020 23:20

Haha bonus of self isolating when you live alone: no need to wear a bra! :)

MoltonSilver · 16/03/2020 23:21

The two people in the pharmacy rule might have been to protect the pharmacists rather than the customers. They are going to need to be well enough to work for the foreseeable.

angell84 · 16/03/2020 23:22

@moltonsilver I actually went to the Doctor for a different reason to my Corona symptoms, I am sick with something else aswell - lucky me, but I told him about my Corona symptoms, and he said I could come in. He was very good, he only had one person in the doctor's office at a time. He is not a GP - he is an out of hours care doc

Omg this is a revelation. I honestly thought i was pregnant and thats why I felt so odd. Have done 4 tests. AF arrived today thank fuck.
get well soon everyone. How long do we think symptoms last??

ArthurMorgan · 16/03/2020 23:27

I think symptoms are usually gone or going around 5 / 6 days but going by what I'm feeling going into day 5, I don't see them going any time soon.

I should add I also felt cold / hot /shivery for one evening and yes to the weird mouth taste...

Bestbe · 16/03/2020 23:27

Would inhaling Vicks or olbus oil help. You know put it in boiling water and cover it with a towel and stick your head in and inhale? Sorry if that's a stupid suggestions. Take care x

LizzyButton · 16/03/2020 23:27

Posters up-thread: you've got it.

Work on that assumption, for your sake and for the sake of others.

Ask yourself this. Have you ever had these symptoms before? Is it NOT a cold? [The nasal / sneezy side of those is unlikely with CV.] Have you noticed that these are the symptoms listed by reputable sources? You realise the government and medics think most people could catch it? Welcome to Corona Club. The first rule of Corona Club is to have feelings of disbelief and denial. The second is that nobody out there is too concerned about you if you are not seriously ill. Hopefully it's welcome to the future herd.

It's easy to kid yourself you haven't got CV if you are not needing a ventilator, but most cases will be on the barely noticeable - mild - inconveniencing - OMG please don't let this get worse spectrum.

It would give me extra reassurance if I could be tested, but what would it really tell me? I've got over the denial of the symptoms that are plain to see/feel. If it gets bad I'll seek help but the authorities say to otherwise isolate for 14, no 7, no 14 days. There will probably be further advice.

Some people will have it bad and some will die. Most won't.

It probably feels worse if I get angry. I'm trying to not be.

ArthurMorgan · 16/03/2020 23:28

Goodness op I can't believe you had to stand outside like that, it would have been bad enough here but my Irish grandad would laugh at yorkshire weather compared to Ireland... 😬

Hollyhobbi · 16/03/2020 23:28

@angell84 what did the doctor prescribe for you? I agree re the sick people standing outside being ridiculous but did the doctor think you had Corona? Also were you and the other sick people 6 foot apart from each other? Hope you are feeling a bit better nowFlowers? I've been in St. James's hospital in Dublin 4 times in the past two weeks and have been quite near a suspected or probable case (judging by the full protective gear a healthcare worker was wearing) in the A and E who was just behind a curtain, and I'm a bit worried now as I have preexisting health conditions.

angell84 · 16/03/2020 23:31

@MoltonSilver I was thinking will I write what I actually had to go to the doctor for today, because it is so sad. When I think of it - it has been such a stressful few weeks for me.

I will write it here, as we are all women. The things that we women go through :(

I was basically raped by a guy a short while ago. I say basically, because like most of us do, I blame myself a bit.

Itold him to wear a condom, he refused and shoved it into me unprotected. I developed a really bad STI, and had to go to see the doctor for that today. I am Dealing with that , on top of also being sick with my chest.

I sat in my house tonight thinking "how I hate that guy" and "how I hate men".

Signing in.
Coughing and a fever. Temperature only 37.8 but that’s high for me. My feet are freezing, my head feels heavy and I am shivering.
And god help me, I am now shut in the house for 14 days with two teenagers.

OhhNo · 16/03/2020 23:34

itswonkylampshade

I’ll isolate myself as much as possible but have two kids who are still at school at present.

Have you not heard or read new guidelines? The whole household need to isolate so the kids won't be going to school.

tangledyarn · 16/03/2020 23:34

savingshoes my inhalers are helping a bit with wheezing and shortness of breath but not with the heavy constricted burning chest feeling..am thinking it might be a bit better tonight, but I thought that a couple of days ago and then felt awful again so who knows!

tangledyarn · 16/03/2020 23:36

@angel Sorry..that's awful, I hope you are trying to look after yourself Flowers

hollieberrie · 16/03/2020 23:36

Yes cold and shivery for 1 night! Plus some nausea but didn't last long. I feel quite rubbish right now tbh. Pretty sure I'm 4 days in.

brassbrass · 16/03/2020 23:36

No fever. No cough.

But yes to the barely noticeable chest tightness between the breasts and dull pain somewhere in my right shoulder though I had been thinking that was a pulled muscle from 2 weeks ago when I last went to the gym and tried heavier weights.

Oh dear how will we ever know. I've been to the shops. FFS.

ChippityDoDa · 16/03/2020 23:37

All of you people with “tight chest” - it’s corona! My Dh has had confirmed CV last week and that’s exactly how he described it. Tight and heavy.
Hot drinks, paracetamol, rest and Isolating at home. Stick your head out of the window to get air into your lungs if you can.

ArthurMorgan · 16/03/2020 23:38

@angell84 I'm sorry I don't know what to say except you're a brave strong woman and I wish you nothing but the best in life

notangelinajolie · 16/03/2020 23:38

I have Vicks on a tissue which I'm inhaling and doing my best heavy breathing exercises. Think I overdid it though and had to stop because the room started spinning. Now going to revert to what normal people do and rub it on my chest.

I recommend Robitussin Linctus for anyone with a dry cough.
