My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Yes DH and I have had intermittent chest pressure thought I was having a heart attack Friday no fever or cough just difficult to breathe for a few hours. Sad

Kwkwjwkek · 16/03/2020 22:50

@Sunshine1239
That’s sounds continuous to me if you had it on and off all day. Continuous cough means it’s not a one off coughing event.

Balkinfly · 16/03/2020 22:50

Coupled with lethargy

MoltonSilver · 16/03/2020 22:50

You should have a test done Angel. You sound very unwell.

Did you ring the HSE helpline (1850 24 1850)? I spoke to them this morning. They were very helpful. They said that as of today (Monday) your GP can order a test if they think you need it. You don't have to have travelled or had a known contact. You don't have to go through the helpline, you can just call your GP. With tomorrow being a holiday you'd probably have to go through D-Doc, Swiftcare or whoever your out of hours cover is with.

Hope you are a little better by morning Flowers

and burning heartburn pain (which I NEVER have) right In middle of my chest

Yes scary me too

Carrotgirl87 · 16/03/2020 22:52

Literally this. Upper back ache through to the front, to the point I was using ibuprofen gel on my back, heartburn type feeling in throat, almost like something is stuck, burning heavy feeling in chest.. but hardly any coughing. thought I had some bad anxiety or a neck muscle pulled been trying to brush it off since there is no fever!

LizzyButton · 16/03/2020 22:52

I get breathless when I walk more than about half a mile. It's all very odd.

That's one way I think it can temporarily intensify. I got that feeling after doing some vigorous cleaning (I'm mildly off my head keeping things spotless as I try not to go stir crazy).

There are going to be some who have this showing no symptoms, some mild and so on up to severe. In my case: imagine a base of bra line - chest above that is affected. It doesn't feel 'right', but nothing awful until I exert myself when I feel slightly out of breath. I have a fever. This is fluctuating a bit too. Mouth feels wrong and I am coughing. I think it is at the mild end and if it stays within the bounds it has for three days now I will be fine. OP is certainly at a higher level than me.

hollieberrie · 16/03/2020 22:54

Oh my god. Is really CV? Also thought possible heart attack on Friday. It's like a constant burning and tightness in chest. I have been at work, everywhere..

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/03/2020 22:55

Ah yes, hot face but no fever and gross taste in mouth.
I’m in West Yorkshire.
Interesting if worrying that so many of us have these symptoms- has anyone had a CV test, presenting like this?

Wanderlust21 · 16/03/2020 22:58

At least if it is cv most of us seem to have it mildish. Only thing is lots of ppl will go to work not knowing they are spreading it.

Maybe it's just another illness.

I wish the news would get day by day reports from lots of ppl going through it so we could see if the back pain ext was commonplace.

Hope you feel better soon op!

fishandsnails · 16/03/2020 22:59

A test would be very useful. I'd pay for a private one if I could.

Carrotgirl87 · 16/03/2020 23:00

I'm in West Yorkshire too Blush

CatherineCawood · 16/03/2020 23:00

Oh this is all rather interesting.

I also have a tight chest which started on Saturday. Accompanied on Saturday with a banging headache. Still got tightness and taking my inhaler a bit. Slight post nasal drip. Nose not runny enough to blow it. Occasional slight cough to clear throat. No sore throat though. No temperature but have felt a bit cold but that's nothing new I always feel cold! I convinced myself the chest was anxiety. DD also has it with no other issues than warm knees?! She is also v anxious.

I did a long country walk yesterday and don't feel bad just the tight chest.

Neighbour and her child have had terrible sore throat and mild temp for 2 days. GP saw the child in surgery and said tonsillitis and gave anti biotics Confused

Should we all be self isolating?

definitelygc · 16/03/2020 23:03

Should we all be self isolating?

Yes! Dear god we are doomed.

hollieberrie · 16/03/2020 23:03

Yes yes hot face!!! I'm on day 4.

Savingshoes · 16/03/2020 23:06

Even if you did get tested and it was confirmed, it's not going to make the symptoms go away.
Self isolation/no contact with people is to reduce the risk of spreading to others and also won't solve the problem.
When you're unwell normally, you seek medical treatment: medication, nutrition, rest or mobility advice... but all we get is, stay home, avoid places with medical professional s and ride it out unless you're fighting for breath, then ring 999.
So what remedies are good for the burning chest, feeling like someone's sitting on you? Since we can't access medical professionals with these symptoms, what over the counter remedies are working - if any?
Those with asthma, do inhalers help with your symptoms?
These are the questions and answers I would prefer to be available on the NHS website.

Broadwayb · 16/03/2020 23:06

Ah, I have the weird burny chest feeling too. I had a very mild sore throat for a few days last week. Not that noticeable during the day, got worse in the evenings. One evening I felt shivery. Then I had a tight chest for a couple of days but no cough so I didn’t think it was anything much. My chest now has a burny heartburn type feeling in it and I’m tired.

Mrscaindingle · 16/03/2020 23:06

I don't know whether to feel relieved that others have been having these symptoms or not. I was starting to put it down to anxiety and I never get worried about symptoms usually.
But the chest pains, sore throat, extreme tiredness and aching joints I've had since last night. At least they seem to have gone away atm, I wish there was more available testing so I could be sure I'm not spreading this if it is CV.

Bathbedandbeyond · 16/03/2020 23:06

Ok, so me too I think. Very, very mild cough but high in my chest feels a bit tight Sad

Wanderlust21 · 16/03/2020 23:06

Anyone with the achey back tried hot showers and found it helped? It feels like a pulled muscle or something (towards top right of back) but it's been getting worse and better n worse again over the last 4 days. Hot shower on it helps for a bit. But I suppose it would help a pulled muscle too. Mild heartburn in middle of my chest too but I thought that might be inactivity bringing it on. Maybe they are linked :/

notangelinajolie · 16/03/2020 23:09

Goodness me I have this. Thought it was anxiety but yes to the tight chest - I had to take my bra off this afternoon because I couldn't breath, fortunately I'm home alone Grin
Also had a temp of 38 and a headache so took paracetamol which worked.
I don't have a sore throat or cough but something feels a bit not quite right.
If this is CV then so far so good. I started feeling a bit odd yesterday so I'm probably not through the worst bit yet.
Keep well everyone.

shelikesemwithamoustache · 16/03/2020 23:11

My son had a really sore throat last weekend and then since Thursday I have a strange sore throat, like it’s cold, rather than sore and a strange feeling in my back and I occasionally take a very deep breath. It seems to be the same each day and after a night’s sleep feels better only to return mid morning. No cough, no fever and that’s 5 days now. I’ve had pneumonia twice and whooping cough and it feels nothing like those did. I’ve been googling to see if that means to self isolate but it seems not, so have been at work.

CatherineCawood · 16/03/2020 23:12

Should we all be self isolating?

Yes! Dear god we are doomed.

Except I have none of the symptoms they list as reason to and to self isolate. No fever. No cough?

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 16/03/2020 23:13

Bugger- the bad taste thing in the mouth is a symptom....

www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8119033/Dr-Clare-Gerada-describes-experience-coronavirus.html

angell84 · 16/03/2020 23:13

I was annoyed today in Ireland. I went to the Doctor, and he was really good, and I got a prescription.

I went to the chemists, and it was locked. A woman came out and took my prescription from me, and said that they were only letting two people in at a time. This was on a street, not a shopping centre. She took my prescription and went back in and left me standing outside for twenty minutes. Six of us were standing outside.

I am sick with a painful chest . If I could describe the weather on the south coast of Ireland today, it was freezing cold, with sideways rain, and a really strong wind.

Eventually I had to bang in the window and tell her to give it back to me , that I couldnt stand in the cold anymore. Other sick people were standing outside in the wind aswell. Eventually got my prescription somewhere else.

How does that make sense. They want to have two people in a pharmacy at a time- to reduce infection, but they think it is okay to leave sick people standing outside in teh cold for a long time.

Is that happening in the U.K?
