My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

I have been feeling to a lot of posts. Slight sore throat, back ache at the top of my back and a pressure feeling in my lungs and kind of like heartburn. I was thinking maybe mine was anxiety

userxx · 16/03/2020 22:04

chest pressure, yes. I am lying down right now and it feels like something is sitting on my chest

I had exactly this in December, weirdest thing ever as never suffer with chest/lungs. It was just a virus but took about 4 weeks to properly shift.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2020 22:05

I have this kind of thing too. It feels like somebody is sitting on my chest and sometimes it feels like it's burning / stinging. My throat is really painful and I have an occasional / intermittent cough. I have a headache most of the time. My eyes are hot and burning.

No fever so far, but I'm struggling to stay warm.

I get breathless when I walk more than about half a mile. It's all very odd.

But none of the above are triggers for self isolation. So I've no idea really! 🤷‍♀️

Branleuse · 16/03/2020 22:07

Ive got tight chest too, bit burny but not bad. Thought it just feels like an odd winter virus , but you never know now. Its got my anxiety up so high

itswonkylampshade · 16/03/2020 22:07

Yes it’s a bit like indigestion or heartburn. I’ll call the GP tomorrow but fully expect not to be tested - I think the advice will be to stay at home if anything. Is the whole family to isolate now, then, if one person isn’t well? Such confusing advice, I wish they'd be a bit more decisive tbh.

Solitaryconfinement · 16/03/2020 22:07

I started another thread to say I’m like this. Started with a sore throat, then that has cleared away to an annoying irritating cough and heavy tight and burning lungs, aching middle back. No fever, no headache and no Ill feeling whatsoever.

SheldonSaysSo1 · 16/03/2020 22:07

I agree I feel like my chest is on fire. I've got a cough too. Hope everyone is managing okay

itswonkylampshade · 16/03/2020 22:07

I don’t have a cough or any other symptoms (yet).

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/03/2020 22:09

Oh my god! That tight chest feeling, slight breathlessness and achy ribs/ back... I’ve had it for three days. Didn’t think it was CV as no cough or fever- thought it was anxiety as working ridiculous hours to get CV contingencies in line for work....

Do we think this is mild CV?! I’ll be devastated if so- I’ve been going out, dropping DS at nursery etc Sad

SupermarketFlowerss · 16/03/2020 22:09

@Solitaryconfinement sound exactly like me. Mine started Friday

ThisIsM · 16/03/2020 22:09

Oh my gosh I've just got a tight chest today after having a sore throat...I have asthma though so I'm so worried 😢 I can't find much information about how it affects asthma, does anyone know? Take care everyone.

catanddogmake6 · 16/03/2020 22:12

Yes advice from government is to now for whole
families to isolate if one is unwell. Sky/ BBC both reporting. Government websites being updated.

MichaelBoobins · 16/03/2020 22:14

I've had the same for a few days but I'm not sure if it's anxiety or if it's really happening. Sore throat but not like a normal sore throat, more of just an ache if that even makes sense? Like after you've been shouting at a concert or night out, that sort of ache. My chest feels full and is burning and I've had to use my inhaler 3 times and that's probably more than I've used it in a whole month! Generally I don't feel ill but every so often I feel really tired and groggy but then it goes away. I'm fat so I get out of breath easier than most but it's been so bad that I've felt like I would pass out and all I've done is walk up a hill to school. I'm not that unfit, I walk everywhere but I'm struggling! My lungs feel tired.

Earlier on I shouted to Dd to turn the bath water off and I couldn't finish my shout as I ran out of breath. It also hurt my chest to shout.

hollieberrie · 16/03/2020 22:15

I have this!!!! I have done so much googling over the last 4 days. Thought it was costocondritis or an unexpected pregnancy! (heartburn) Could it really be CV??

Monsterjam · 16/03/2020 22:15

I was dismissing my achey body, cough and sore chest / burning lungs as a bug because I don’t have a Temp ahhhh

Midnightstar11 · 16/03/2020 22:18

My DS has started with a chesty cough and his breathing is heavy at times, his eyes look heavy, hes still only small at 3 years old. It's very scary seeing him like this.

Wanderlust21 · 16/03/2020 22:19

Odd that someone mentioned sore back.

I've felt knackered this past week or so and had an achey back. Slight like 1/10 sore throat the past couple of days and have occasionally thought I felt a little hot over the week. Was wondering if I was fighting off the start of a cold but you never know....

No cough or lung probs though.

tangledyarn · 16/03/2020 22:19

Me too! Been like this for 10 days now. Have been quite wheezy (asthmatic) but have now stopped coughing and just left with a heavy tired burny pain in 1 lung and a bit of back pain too and just feel generally rubbish.

TossACoinToYourWitcher · 16/03/2020 22:20

I was dismissing the chest pressure sensation as GERD and anxiety. I had bronchitis in February and it left me with an intermittent cough.

tangledyarn · 16/03/2020 22:20

Also really sore throat but that has also eased off now.

Gwenhwyfar · 16/03/2020 22:20

I've had a tight feeling in my chest since Thursday and have been putting it down to anxiety. Really worried now. Does anyone think tightness in the chest with NO other symptoms could be it?

Springbubble912 · 16/03/2020 22:21

I have had a painful chest on and off for 2 weeks - feels a bit like heartburn and a bit breathless , no sore throat , no fever , only recently developed a bit of a cough ...keep thinking it’s gone then it comes back ... didnt think it’s Was CV ... Very interesting so many of us have these kind of symptoms though !

This. With an occasional cough-not consistent and no temp- also my face keeps feeling hot. But I have a high risk DH so am I just panicking?

ArthurMorgan · 16/03/2020 22:22

I started with a weird sore throat (not glands just like I'd swallowed sand?) then the headache, like a dehydration headache, then the cough and for the last 2 days my chest has been very tight and I've noticed my lungs starting to burn today.

I've been told by a nurse on the front line and also a virologist on TV that complications usually arise 7-10 days after symptoms start. So basically if you're going to get pneumonia it'll happen around then. I'd be wary if it was just one person that said it but two that don't know each other makes me listen.

I'm 4 days in... 😬

RippleEffects · 16/03/2020 22:22

I've had pneumonia a couple if times and have managed asthma. I'm a bit prone to things going to my chest.

I find lots and lots of fluids help. Warm drinks like hot squash are good, just holding the cup and breathing in the warm vapours can cause slight relief. I tend to have lots of soup when I have a chest infection. Again warm vapours but also sore throats tend to go hand in hand and soup helps hydrate, soothes the throat, relaxes breathing by it's vapours and provides easily digested nutrients. Rest really helps. The number of times I've set back my recovery because of a complete lack of patience to rest.

Most important for me is not sleeping flat. I feel like I'm drowning when I do that. Ive heard people try all sorts of things like propping one end of the bed up on books to avoid being flat. I go for a bit of a pillow or spare duvet nest to stay propped up.
