My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

These are my symptoms too! My chest feels like someone is sitting on it and I feel really exhausted and listless. I can't summon the energy to do anything. We are in the US, so schools have already closed, which is a challenge in itself. I'm doing as much self isolation as is possible and my DH is sleeping in a different room. Still no fever though though I feel like I should have.
Just trying to rest and take it easy, determined not to let this bugger beat me!

AnnaMagnani · 16/03/2020 22:23

Sunshine you should not be at work!

You have a cough, you don't normally have a cough - so you have a new cough. The guidance is clear, you should be at home self-isolating for 7 days. As should every single one of your colleagues who has the same.

While you have all been angsting about the definition of persistent (it clearly is persistent as you have had it for 2 days) you are all busy infecting each other and from there, everyone else you meet.

Also anyone in your household now needs to isolate for 14 days.

longshot · 16/03/2020 22:24

I don’t know if it’s CV, I have no idea I just feel pretty ill and some symptoms seem to match for me. Mainly that it is unlike any feeling I’ve ever had before.

Where is everyone based? I am in the uK, North west area. Maybe just a bug?

I hadn’t thought to call GP but now thinking I might tomorrow if it continues.

Justyou · 16/03/2020 22:24

Me too, sore throat about 4 days and burning heartburn pain (which I NEVER have) right In middle of my chest

GrumpyHoonMain · 16/03/2020 22:25

Yes I have had this after a strange respiratory illness over the past 2-3 weeks. 111 is convinced it isn’t Covid-19 but it does marry up with viral pneumonia symptoms so who knows. I am improving now so hopefully I don’t catch Covid until I am 100% better

Tinydancer123 · 16/03/2020 22:25

Same guys .... pain in middle of chest and back pain top left shoulder. Feel uncomfortable to breathe like catching between breasts at bottom middle. Not terrible but uncomfortable. Feel cold and sleepy on and off
Mild cough.

GuyFawkesDay · 16/03/2020 22:26

Oh god I have the same thing.

Aching throat and glands up.
Tight "pressure" feeling in chest. I thought it was anxiety, or psychosomatic but I've had it since Wednesday/Thursday last week and it just isn't going away?

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 22:30

Ripple

What a lovely soothing post... Hot squash, excellent idea!

SupermarketFlowerss · 16/03/2020 22:30

@longshot I'm north west and same symptoms. If you call gp tomorrow please keep us updated

EricaNernie · 16/03/2020 22:30

Dry chest, bit frightening, also asthmatic

day1intheisolationhouse · 16/03/2020 22:32

@itswonkylampshade yes the advice now is for the whole family to self isolate for 14 days.

Please keep your DC off school and let them know.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

IAmUniquelyMe · 16/03/2020 22:32

Wow! So others have it too. I've been feeling rubbish with sore chest and back since yesterday. Felt it all through the night. No fever or cough, so I thought it was my acid reflux worsening.

However, I have been taking lansoprazole twice a day for months and gaviscon advance and also use an inhaler daily. Been fine until yesterday. Upping the gaviscon has not helped much.

Didn't think this could be COVID-19. Will try and get a telephone appointment this week.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/03/2020 22:34

I've had a dry cough today and a splitting headache. I took my temperature, though and it is normal, so I think I'm just so worried that it has made me oversensitive to symptoms I wouldn't normally particularly notice.

itswonkylampshade · 16/03/2020 22:36

Thank you... Flowers to all of you lot, too!

applespearsbears · 16/03/2020 22:36

I felt rotten at work last week really wiped out hot dizzy with a drippy nose, then weird back pains that made sleeping uncomfortable and then at the weekend I got a raging sore throat that went right down my chest, dry cough and I had a temp of 37.8 but that was when I had taken some paracetamol- would that affect it?
I had a painful ear nose and throat so put it down to an ear infection. Would you self isolate?

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2020 22:37

I'm in the NW too.

Sunshine1239 · 16/03/2020 22:37

Anna
I understand what your saying but nhs111 actually says a continuous cough - you cough repeatedly not persistent on the website

No fever

I have neither

My cough doesn’t make me cough repeatedly but it’s defo made me think I’m best to stay off

Sunshine1239 · 16/03/2020 22:38

I’m north west liverpool

Wheresthebeach · 16/03/2020 22:41

Crap..I thought it was stress as asthmatic. Constant pressure on chest, productive cough (charming), minor sore throat, aching back. Hmmm

ArthurMorgan · 16/03/2020 22:42

I'm West yorkshire

Gwenhwyfar · 16/03/2020 22:42

Anyone got any advice for me with tight chest and nothing else? We're not supposed to call 111 so I don't know what to do about this one lone symptom.

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 16/03/2020 22:43

I went down with a high temperature on Friday night and the description of a throat feeling full of sand is bang on for me- heavy and uncomfortably full/swollen but not razor like pain. Slight difficulty swallowing .I had a cracking headache and aches in my neck/shoulders. Shivers etc

Really weird thing is a disgusting taste in my mouth every now and then- which I haven't heard of as being a symptom. Anyway woke up Sunday feeling back to myself for most of the day only to deteriorate over night and woke up boiling hot at 2am this morning. Have felt rough all day since- wiped out knackered and my lungs feel like they have a slight pressure in them.

However I do not have any sign of a cough yet- just a slight tickling in my throat every now and then. It is likely to be something else isn't it?

fishandsnails · 16/03/2020 22:43

We're currently self isolating after my daughter started with a fever and mild cough last week. Since then I have started with a cough, couple of high temperatures but mainly ok temp and shortness of breath in the evenings. I also have uncomfortable more than painful lungs but a pain in the middle of my back and sometimes the middle of my chest when I breathe. It feels sort of like when I was 9 months pregnant and the baby was squashing my lungs. My other child has also started with a cough today but no fever. So far husband has been fine. No idea if it's the virus or not, we are staying in for 14 days though.

YoursTunbridgeWells · 16/03/2020 22:43

I had a burning sensation in the lungs last month. Kept going back to GP - turns out it was a chest infection. They gave me ABs and I am feeling better now. This was a normal winter bug that took out several of my team at work,

fishandsnails · 16/03/2020 22:48

I'm also in the north west and forgot to say both me and my daughter had around two days of feeling incredibly tired before the other symptoms (cough/fever) started.
