My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

@vintagehearts - there's a new thread here, how are you feeling now?

Vintagehearts · 23/03/2020 21:24

Today coughed less, but woke with a bunged up nose and a headache..

Countrygirl38 · 24/03/2020 14:04

Hi everyone, can chills without a fever be a sign of coronavirus?I have had minor chills overnight and this morning. NHS 111 online says fever or persistent cough but I am not sure if chills but no fever could be the start of it. I am a keyworker and am meant to be at work tomorrow. I don't want to spread anything to anyone but we are also short staffed due to others self isolating. Has anyone had just minor chills?

Porcupineinwaiting · 24/03/2020 14:28

Hi @Countrygirl

I started with chills and diarrhoea. But of course I dont know I've got it, just know I've got something.

Gwenhwyfar · 24/03/2020 22:28

Countrygirl - I don't know about chills being Covid-19, but they're not something you get often are they? It's at least a real cold isn't it so probably better to stay home.

onlinelinda · 24/03/2020 23:55

I had chills and no fever and the chills got worse. Doctor says probable cv. So yes.

Friendsofmine · 25/03/2020 08:58

Chills, no fever AND no cough is flu.

Porcupineinwaiting · 25/03/2020 09:00

Actually a high temperature is typical of flu.

brassbrass · 25/03/2020 11:38

Can't remember when I last posted on this thread but I wanted to update that the chest tightness and aches got better yesterday but I'm feeling tired and finding it hard to get up in the morning.

longshot · 25/03/2020 12:16

There is a new thread see the link below. I am not confirmed Covid-19 but i think I have had it, was diagnosed over the phone by 2 GPs and a consultant at Covid A&E and that's as good as I was going to get as wan't admitted to hospital. I had to go in due to chest pain and breathlessness.

Anyway @Countrygirl38 mine started with diarrhea followed by aches and pains and chills which progressed after a few days (felt a bit better for a day) into slight cough, chest pains, chest tightness, fever, severe muscle aches, exhaustion and a bit of breathlessness. I'm on day 15 now and think I am just starting to come out of it. Have also had headaches. For a few days the cough was persistent (a few coughs per hour) but never bad but the fever was high for several days in a row (week 2). Luckily I self isolated from the beginning (except my family in my home) who have all had it mildly. Kids have had fever and cough, DH not much.

JRNV · 02/04/2020 06:58

Well, sounds exactly like my situation. Sitting at the ER in Las Vegas wondering what the heck is going on with my lungs. Had mild chest discomfort for 2 days. Today I woke up anf symptoms are nearly gone. Fast forward to 3 p.m. chest tightness came back stronger along with a burning sensation in my chest/lungs. I haven't had tequila in a bery long time, but the burning sensation created by a shot of tequila is similar to the burning sensation i felt for about 30 minutes. I had some chest xrays and some bloodwork done just now.
My biggest fear is being admitted into the hospital and not being able to see my son again...pretty scary shit.

AOD88 · 06/04/2020 05:34

I've had the burning sensation in my lungs for almost 3 weeks now. No cough. I thought it was going away. I was just feeling it occasionally but I can feel it again tonight. Short of breath as well.

JRNV · 06/04/2020 05:53

I've had the same feeling for about a week now. I started having symptoms last Sunday, raspy throat, slight shortness of breath, night sweats. 3 days into my symptoms I had to go to the ER; my chest was super tight but my oxygen levels were at 96-97 so they sent me home. I think I may have been a little anxious on top of my symptoms. I've been watching the news, reading internet articles and that's really inducing fear and anxiety. I'm on my 8th day now and I still have somewhat of a burning sensation but it's not as noticeable as before. I'm still concerned but trying to stay off the news channels and internet articles. I'm taking vitamin c,d,mk-7, and a multivitamin on top of that.

2BWell · 09/04/2020 04:17

Hello, I am new to this group and wanted to respond to your post. Are you still having burning lungs?

listsandbudgets · 19/04/2020 14:03

I dont know if this covid or something else.

I started coughing about 3 weeks ago. Intermittent dry cough, quite uncomfortable. That seemed to settle after a week then started up again about 5 days later. Again intermittent and a 2 or 3 really good days thrown in where I've had lots of energy. I've been cold and shivering, had to keep clearing my throat and brought up a lot of phlegm a lot of it with blood in it. A lot of headaches, tiring out very fast and sleeping about 14+ hours a day.

But no fever.

Then yesterday about 6am woke about 6am with really severe pain under ribs, cold, nauseous. breathing in it felt like there was a tight band just below ribs. Pain was on a par with labour pains a lot of the time. Loads of vomiting through day, mainly clear fluid couldn't hold down water let alone pain killers and pain only really cleared about 1am so about 18 hours

Feeling bit better now but completely exhausted. Whether I've got CV or something else or a couple of things at once I dont know.

Whinge over. The fact I can type this now is good. Yesterday I couldn't even listen to audiobooks as it took too much effort

listsandbudgets · 19/04/2020 14:05

And muscle aches did I mention the flipping aches?

visionrke · 27/04/2021 21:55

I caught sars ii last nov 2. my lungs & throat are still burning, blood pressure went sky high and havin chest pains. had heart cath done-said all great, went to a pulminologist and said i have asthma...news to me & young stage of pulminary disease-am a smoker...been tryin to quit. but i also am goin for upper GI found out gerd is in bloodline. they say silent reflux is often misdiagnosed for asthma. when are they going to talk about all of our serious symtoms and come up with a cure for that? i thought i was going to die and am scared these ailments aren't goin to subside! too afraid to get vaccinated. i do not think ppl realize the seriousness of what we are experiencin!

visionrke · 27/04/2021 21:59

yes, from the ppl i have spoke with, we all had bad chills but no fever. screw the lost of smell & taste...u don't hear them talkin about our lungs on fire, extreme joint pain that flairs up when it feels like it, or the heart, BP, and migraines:(

Abraxan · 28/04/2021 19:32

Chest pains, tight chest, difficult or laboured breathing, etc - these were my first symptoms and the longest lasting.

I had tested positive for covid with these symptoms before I got any form of cough (which wasn't a proper cough, more like needing to clear my throat often) or temperature (raised slightly for 2 or 3 hours on afternoon.)

I did go into work with the chest and breathing issues as advised it wasn't likely covid - at that point I didn't know I'd been in contact with it. I likely passed it in to several colleagues, luckily no one else was seriously ill as a result.

Abraxan · 28/04/2021 19:39

@Friendsofmine

A lot of these symptoms sound like a typical chest infection I often get this time of year.
That is exactly what I thought I had. I went to the doctors after a few days as it wasn't improving and, as I've had one onia in the last, I wanted to get checked.

As it was my blood reassure was sky high so I was rushed to a and e due to the risk of heart attack or stroke.

It was after being admitted to hospital due to that and having a routine covid test in admission that covid was discovered. At that point even the hospital hadn't put me in a 'possible covid' ward - I was in with 7 or 8 others.

They put the chest pains, breathing and most likely the bp issues down to the covid infection.
