Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

Thank you for doing this new thread. I worked from home today as our office had to have a deep clean . I tried to stay off other threads and the news but what I did read made me upset and I burst into tears when DH got in. He is 66 and very relaxed whilst obviously heading all advice but my mind has convinced me something dreadful happen.

Callybrid · 16/03/2020 19:55

Hello, hooray for thread 3, and for (almost) getting through another day!

Laylady - hope you are recovering from the double shock of GD and self-isolation and hopefully self-isolation will keep you and baby safe. I have no experience of GD but hopefully someone else here or on pregnancy boards can reassure you with positive stories and tips on how to manage it.

Keynote1 · 16/03/2020 19:56

My daughter called me tonight to tell me she was 11 weeks pregnant after months of fertility treatment. She was going to tell us on Mothers Day but has been told to keep in as much as possible for next 3 months.

So happy for her but sad I can't give her a big hug

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 16/03/2020 19:57

* Laylady, take comfort that we’ve heard nothing about Saturday’s mum and baby, the media would be desperate to tell us about the dreadful tragedy if anything had happened to either of them. No news *

The baby has recovered, not sure where I read it though.

Sorry to crash your thread but I’m so frustrated with the scaremongering and the political bu fighting.

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 19:58

Keynote1 thats amazing news! Save that massive hug for when the baby is finally here!

polkadotpixie · 16/03/2020 20:01

I'm glad I've found this thread. I read some of the last one but didn't post

I'm not in a good place mentally. I have anxiety and am prone to catastrophising and I'm on the brink tbh

I work in our major city hospital and it seems calm and business as usual but mentally I have my whole family dead and buried and life as we know it over

I need calm and distraction, the other threads (especially the long running one) are scaring me so much I think I'm going to be sick

Hope you don't mind if I stick around, I need this I think

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 20:04

Laylady, hugs Flowers I can understand you’re worried and frustrated and what should be such an exciting time. I hope your midwife can offer some reassuring words

I listened to Bozza, et al earlier and it did reassure me overall. My mum is pleased that she can still go out for her walks, but disappointed that she can’t keep up with her usual social activities

I haven’t been over to the dark side today though, which may explain my better mood. Strange that 🧐Grin

Rayn · 16/03/2020 20:04

I have done a bit of CBT which has really helped.challenged my thoughts... Made me realize I am spending a lot of time hypothesising!

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 20:04

polkadotpixie I am in the same boat as you.
Just about hanging on, if I'm honest.

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 20:05

Polkadot, welcome, stick with us, we talk sense (and share puppy and bunny pics) Flowers

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 20:09

Has anyone come across Acceptance Behavioural Therapy? It’s a bit like CBT, but more about accepting that there are some things we can’t change, rather than constantly challenging thoughts

I’ve done some training in it and I use aspects of it at work (I work with cancer patients)

Siameasy · 16/03/2020 20:10

Honestly ❤️ they are so wonderful and if I feel a bit iffy I sit and listen to the little furry things busily twittering. We have a huge colony of goldfinches round here and I’ve got to know their song.

Alsohuman · 16/03/2020 20:11

Welcome, newcomers. This thread’s a haven of sanity, the most brilliant bunch of women you can imagine.

Siameasy · 16/03/2020 20:13

polkadot I think some people get off on catastrophising. Some of the stuff I’ve read on other threads where people have said they’re trying to carry on as normal and the negative people virtually accuse them of spreading the virus. Wrong.

Orangeblossom78 · 16/03/2020 20:13

On the topic of stuff like CBT some words such as 'lockdown' sound say don;t they, staying at home a bit easier. I think all the words and images around this make it much worse to be honest. and the media of course

Orangeblossom78 · 16/03/2020 20:13

sound scary I mean

Siameasy · 16/03/2020 20:14

It is rare to see a thrush stella and it shouldn’t be as once upon a time it was a common bird. I might start a bird bingo at home.

Orangeblossom78 · 16/03/2020 20:15

That attitude, as siamesey mentions, of shaming others and making them feel bad for not being as 'good' as you, well that is prevalent on MN in other things as well. It is just coming out here as well

Sad that people have to do that kind of stuff to feel better about themselves.

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 20:16

Some of the stuff on the other threads are horrible.
Thank goodness for this thread.

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 20:16

The bloody press loves emotive language that sets the neurones pinging. “Staying at home for a bit” sells fewer papers I guess

Siameasy · 16/03/2020 20:19

It’s something they wouldn’t do in real life Orange. I’m not one of these “oooh be nice to everyone“ people -I can be pretty blunt -but I loathe drama people. Seen it on FB too, if someone dares say they’re trying not to worry - well, you may as well admit to eating kittens.

foxessocks · 16/03/2020 20:21

Hi everyone I'm joining you, must stay off any other threads Smile

Jrobhatch29 · 16/03/2020 20:21

@Layladylay234 the baby is apparently fine but not sure about the mam. Im pretty sure the case in london is why us pregnant people have been told to self isolate xx

andratuttobene · 16/03/2020 20:26

Checking in from the previous threads. Hello to newcomers, welcome to the last sane corner of MN!

This too shall pass, ladies. Encourage all to take some deep breaths, do a little yoga, and accept that we cannot control the situation, only how we respond to it.

So if anyone needs a moment... here is Arnold Schwarzenegger. In his kitchen. Talking about the need for social distancing. With the assistance of a donkey and a pony... Confused
