Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

I'm in. After someone on FB saying we'll have no electricity in a few weeks I need talking down.

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 20:29

There are some proper batshit people on Facebook
I’ve snoozed loads, now I’m just getting fluffy posts from non drama llamas

BlueMoon1103 · 16/03/2020 20:34

Feeling really anxious tonight so thought I’d come on this thread. I have anxiety and depression and keep panicking about what will happen if we lockdown as I’d have a breakdown if I couldn’t leave the house with DS (1) as he gets so bored and fussy which in turn sets off my triggers Sad haven’t had the nicest of replies on other threads so hoping you lot can cheer me up a bit! Pretty sure I’m convincing myself I’ve got symptoms I haven’t as well so pleased to have found a thread that might have some positivity on it! Daffodil

userxx · 16/03/2020 20:39

@BlueMoon1103 And breathe......... if you are locked down you can still go out for a walk somewhere, just avoid other people.

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 20:40

BlueMoon, deep breath... and another. Anxiety is shit

I did a quick google on the electricity thing and it didn’t throw anything up, so it’s very likely batshit drama. Anyhow, not boasting or anything but we’ve got an Aldi portable generator that my dad actually queued up to buy, one Thursday Grin I once took it camping, in case I wanted to straighten my hair (speaking of batshit)

Which brings me to this oldie, but goodie

I got my knitting out.

I have a unfinished blanket that's been waiting its turn.

Can highly recommend knitting as therapy.

BlueMoon1103 · 16/03/2020 20:43

@userxx thanks, didn’t know you could still go for a walk, I was told I’d get arrested if I tried to leave my house Hmm

On the funny side (and I think it makes me a shit mum and a bad person) my DS tried to walk earlier and face planted...it did look quite funny Grin I did give him a cuddle but I had a little chuckle at the same time!

BlueMoon1103 · 16/03/2020 20:44

@Millie2013 it really is! I’m glad the electricity thing was rubbish!

Layladylay234 · 16/03/2020 20:46

Thank you all so much for your lovely words and messages. Feeling a bit calmer now. Have decided tomorrow am going to meal plan, online shop for food in prep to improve my diet and start some yoga. Have also downloaded audible and going to get the Mindfulness for Mummies book to listen to if it all becomes too much again.

Just wanted to ask you lovely, sane people a question...So if pregnant women are now considered as needing shielding, using the Governments words, what do we do about contact with kids? I have a 10 year old son and stepdaughter,do I need to pull my son out of school if he's at a bigger risk of giving it to me if he picks it up at school? It's all very confusing.

For what it's worth,I'd rather he stay at school as long as possible but don't want to put either me or him at a bigger risk of catching it. What would you guys do?

Science with another big discovery!

Knowing how the immune response works is key to finding out why it goes into overdrive in some people.
Thank GOD for medical research.

userxx · 16/03/2020 21:12

Jesus Christ there are some complete twats over in those threads. I can't bare to be near them 😡. Rant over and relax.

userxx · 16/03/2020 21:14

@BlueMoon1103 Arrested 😱 noooooo, it won't come to that. Be careful what you are reading and where you are reading it, try and stick to the facts. All will be fine.

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 21:32

Bluemoon, face planting toddlers are quite funny. It’s ok to giggle while comforting them Grin

StCharlotte · 16/03/2020 21:33

Signing in (with apologies for starting a rogue thread Blush).

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 16/03/2020 21:35

I've decided to do something positive as I have more time now I'm working from home, and do some exercise every day. Will still go to the gym (no advice against that unless you have symptoms). Might shift a few pounds and will help clear my mind. Think we all need to find something positive to do.

Millie2013 · 16/03/2020 21:36

Laylady, I’d give your midwife a call to check, it’s all very confusing. I hope you get some clarity Flowers

RapidRainbow · 16/03/2020 21:41

I went to post on thread II and found it was full! I just wanted to share this:

This Dr is very good at putting things into perspective. I've seen a few of his videos now and he explains it's the strain on the NHS that we need to avoid rather than the virus itself. So if we all do our bit we can make sure anyone who gets severely ill has a much higher chance of getting the treatment they need.

Imagine BOJOs legacy if he actually gets this right. As much as I question his decisions, we must remember people in position like him want to be remembered as heroes and praised by their country.

chocolatesaltyballs (cracking user name btw) I’ve started doing workouts from the fitness blender website and am really enjoying them.

Have we got an isolation/home working resource thread yet? Links to stuff like free yoga etc. Maybe we could crowd out some of the scaremongering threads?

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 21:48

I am as far from a Boris fan as it's possible to be. My family are ex-mining Northerners who would rather eat shit than vote Tory.
I do think he is doing his best in very difficult times.

Alsohuman · 16/03/2020 21:51

I feel quite sorry for him.

Boris: “I want to be king of the world”

World: “Be careful what you wish for”

I loathe and detest him, incidentally.

gingerbreadslice · 16/03/2020 21:52

I really do love this thread I posted on the other thread just wondered if anyone had any advice like if I took my daughter out of school until this blows over and home studied with her she's four, would we not catch it then?
I don't need to go out as have everything here and can order etc, and the other two children I have are 3 and 3 months.
My anxiety is quite bad so I'm trying to calm down, the school said she can be pulled out and do her work at home sorry I'm waffling now but my question is if we just stayed at home for the next few weeks/months until this blows over will we be okay.

And also my granddad works with children and one of the dads caught it, he only found out from a test it was that mild he thought it was a cold so that's reassuring x

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 16/03/2020 21:55

@mrslang - home working support thread is a great idea.

I do value getting out to my gym rather than doing stuff at home if I can, was the highlight of my day today. I go a bit stir crazy. Or maybe I should start running again, would be less contact with people that way.

gingerbreadslice · 16/03/2020 21:56

One piece of happiness I'm experiencing my son has started smiling he is 11 weeks Smile

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 22:01

MrsLang, and maybe a "look for the helpers" thread of organisations and people who are helping others?

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 22:03

gingerbreadslice- that's so exciting! I love their little toothless smiles! May he have a lot to smile about over the course of his life.
