Think on BBC

Mass gatherings but no school closures

Care over groups where they advise flu vaccination but children are at school.

I want to help the essential workers so some joe want to help them to work but also worried about schools being open

Twerking9to5 · 16/03/2020 17:11

So if we all isolate for 14 days and there are no online delivery shops, how do we get food?!

Keepmeawayfromthecrisps · 16/03/2020 17:11

I’m really confused. My ds had a cough for 2 days on Friday and Saturday, no temperature so keeping him in for 7 days - does this now mean the whole household has to isolate for 14 days even though we’ve no symptoms?

allthesharks · 16/03/2020 17:11

Children are in the group who usually get the flu jab. I know they're not at greater risk of CV, but this advice is so bloody vague.

maa1992 · 16/03/2020 17:11

I think we need a total lock down, I have a concert on Friday (obviously I'm not going) but so far it's still going ahead? Close everything and limit going out all together

Blueberryham · 16/03/2020 17:11

I have asthma but don’t have a steroid inhaler so they tell me I don’t need flu jab

ScreamingLadySutch · 16/03/2020 17:12

This is based on science, people. It is to manage transmission so that the NHS can deal with it.

Bojo has horrific morals, but he has shown a lot of leadership so far.

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 17:12

Has HE phoned 111 recently??

BorneFeet · 16/03/2020 17:13

People need to calm the fuck down and trust the experts.

Pinkyyy · 16/03/2020 17:13

A lot of hysteria on here.

Blueberryham · 16/03/2020 17:13

It’s all just advisory. They need to be more clear

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2020 17:13

Confusing (and I had pen and paper!) cmo kept blurring the 4 categories.

IsolationMum · 16/03/2020 17:13

@fedup21 they said pregnant women should avoid social contact as far as possible as they just don't know enough about the effects.

Rosehip10 · 16/03/2020 17:13

Unclear waffling press conference. Joke.

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/03/2020 17:13

Mass gathering still allowed but no emergency support? Have I got it wrong? If so it would be disastrous!

I guess this means that events will have to cancel as they won’t get support.
So the events cancel but it’s not the government making them do it.
Restaurants will shut because it’s not worth their while to open but it wasn’t the government making them shut.

middleager · 16/03/2020 17:14

My young teen has asthma. Where does he stand?

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 17:14

Screaming lady, but the NHS can't cope now!

Little ppe for front line workers!
People can't get through to 111...

People who may not have it crammed into rooms with suspected cases!

vikkimoog · 16/03/2020 17:14

so the advice is also not to travel if you can avoid it?
So a planned trip to see my middle age relative in London ( from manchester) should be cancelled?

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 17:14

Borne I trust WHO.

adaline · 16/03/2020 17:15

@twerking9to5 you can still go out and get food. They're just saying to stay home unless it's absolutely essential.

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2020 17:15

I’m off to wash my hands. That’s all I’m totally clear about. What a shame - bj started very coherent and organised and then it all became unclear.

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/03/2020 17:15

People need to calm the fuck down and trust the experts.

I’m just curious as to why the uk experts seem to disagree with every other expert in the world.

TonytheDog · 16/03/2020 17:15

He didn't answer the question about testing!

musicposy · 16/03/2020 17:15

I’m assuming employers will have to catch up with the government advice? DH’s work have so far been less than positive or helpful about anyone staying off unless they have proven corona.

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2020 17:16

Agree about who press conference. Authoritative and clear.
