I don't know whether to watch or not. I'm just watching the WHO broadcast now, and honestly if he doesn't announce drastic measures now, I can't see how this country can be saved at all?

This could be devastating for the country, and we seem to be going against all WHOs recommendations up to this point.

Let's hope the strategy changes and we hear changes 🙏🏻

WHO saying test test test, and test contacts of positive cases up to 2 days prior to showing symptoms...yet my employer (hospital) told everyone earlier this morning emphatically non symptomatic cases are not infectious.

Which is it??

If non symptomatic cases weren't infectious, how has this spread so far and wide? I'm pretty sure most things are infectious before (strong) symptoms appear.

Going across to the briefing now... I'm not hopeful for more stringent changes but I really hope I'm proved wrong.

I expected him to have some sort of stronger plan.

Stay away and out of public spaces is common sense imo?

So 14 days isolation rather than 7 if symptoms
WFH if at all possible
No pubs clubs theatres cafes
Those with high risk conditions isolate for 12 weeks from next weekend
No emergency service support for mass gatherings
Special attention to be paid by Londoners and older people

They need to broadcast regular TV updates. The people likely to ignore the advice set out in this press conference are probably not even watching it.

Oh god.. this is crazy

Surely schools count as mass gatherings, especially larger secondary schools.

Whole households now have to self isolate if one person is ill

Are they not even going to mention schools after WHO just confirmed children have died?

I really don't understand how they can advise people to work from home yet prevent school teachers and pupils from doing this by keeping schools open!

Keep people safe? How can we when my husband who could WFH isnt being allowed to because of Govt guidance.

No, hopefully a journalist asks for clarification but surely they shouldn't need to, if you say high risk conditions then you should name them.
