To feel upset about holidays

I know this is really selfish and entitled but is anyone else feeling a bit devastated that their holiday is probably totally fucked this year?

Due to go to Spain (Benidorm!) in 8 weeks and it’s looking very unlikely.

Fuzzy things go from hoax to state of emergency very quickly. Look at Trump. You may get stuck but it’s a nice place to be I suppose.

I hope those of you who are away have a good holiday and get home safe. I'm due to go to Cape Verde at Easter and they haven't cancelled yet. Have mixed feelings about going if they don't.

All booked and paid for mid May to Tenerife. Won't be happening now. I am disappointed but whatever it takes for the world to recover.

I know I was absolutely gutted about our holiday being cancelled due to that volcano in Iceland around 10 years ago. Distant memory, nothing truly lost. Feel nothing at all about it now. That's helping me with the disappointment of cancelled trips this year.

Crusty crab, exactly. 7 years ago my grandson was born just before hurricane sandy and I was devasted that my visit was delayed for a couple of weeks but it is all forgotten now.

It is disappointing but necessary, we were booked to go to Spain today, at least the sun is shining.

Yeah everything cancelled up to April 16th @fluffybutter so that will include mine. Oh well.

YABVU. This is life and death!!

We had a Scandinavian cruise booked for early May - well that’s not going to happen now. I agree, life is rubbish just now and it’s one more thing to feel rotten about.

My son lives in another part of the country and thank goodness we can chat over Skype but I’d so love to be able to put my arms around him and give him a hug. All I can do just now is blow him a kiss on screen.

So no, YANBU. We can’t help how sad we feel.

Yup.. my bf is in Cairo, we only see each other twice a year due to army and that will now be once this year.. we havent seen each other since October and meant to in April, flights were cancelled and we r hoping August :(

We retired last year after 30 years running a retail business, working every bank holiday, and every Sunday. We only managed 1 full weeks holiday a year together. This year was meant to be the year we caught up. Looks like we will be spending time at home instead. However, we have friends who took their caravan to Spain a couple of weeks back, and are now stuck in a caravan, unable to go out and trying to get s ferry back, but the ferries keep being cancelled. So, yes we are disappointed, but hey, we are fit and well at the mo, so whats the point in getting upset.

We are due to go to Woolacombe, North Devon on 3rd April.
I have paid for the 3 generations of us cos I love having us 12 on holiday altogether.

So, so worried that my husband and I may be ill for it ( the daughters and sons in law are all roughly in their 30s and the children are under 10 so they will probably be fine) or that the roads will be closed and we will be prevented from travelling. No chance of any money back. Two weeks and 3 days ! Booked 10 months ago and so needing this holiday.

Look at Italy, they are weeks ahead. People are dying. Holidays are nothing

Italy is having a high instance of death as they have one of the oldest populations in europe .

I wouldn't go to Benidorm anyway. There were loads of drunken Bits (sadly) drinking in the streets and pushing trollies full of booze around laughing and shouting. This despite the rules imposed by the government. They don't care about anyone else just themselves. Think the gun toting guarda should ship them back and never let them back into Spain again. In Tenerife a woman went in thd pool despite being told not too, she was arrested and rightly so. Hops you get your money back but rebook somewhere else.

We'd booked to go to Turkey last October and it got cancelled because of Thomas Cook. We rearranged it for April 5th and now that's been cancelled too. My son was so upset this morning because he's been looking forward to it since last July when we booked it and also he doesn't understand the full gravity of the virus ... then again I don't think anyone does!
It's only human to feel disappointed!
