If Johnson does a question part it will be different to last one. He’s going to shirk.

DakotaFanny · 16/03/2020 07:16

Same viva

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 07:16

I know I don’t know what to do. Dh all jolly and will not listen. Doesn’t matter what I say and I want us all to stay in at the same time.

Maybe I should stop school though can’t decide.

middleager · 16/03/2020 07:18

Marsha my husband the same. Crisis? What crisis?

croon979 · 16/03/2020 07:18

Anyone know what time COBRA is meeting? Afternoon?

RedToothBrush · 16/03/2020 07:19

Everyone I know is saying Friday at the latest will be last day of school.

If it isn't I don't know what will happen.

It's what everyone I know seems mentally prepared for. I don't think there is a tolerance beyond that point. And the problem then is the government will struggle to implement a skeleton school service for key workers if it doesn't do a controlled shut down.

I volunteer at school. I'm going to call in and say I'm not doing it this week. I still have my very mild cough which I've had months. Which isn't covid-19. But the kids I've been helping with are of an age to understand enough but not really fully get it. There's quite a few who are anxious / sensitive types too. It's just not appropriate for me to be there. I'm a non-essential luxury at best atm.

LuxLFC · 16/03/2020 07:19

Sorry if this was posted, very hard to keep up but this is from an American journalist who is posting from Harvard Health about symptoms
twitter.com/billmiston/status/1239265615262765059

So much conflicting information!!!

Mary1935 · 16/03/2020 07:19

We really need flattening the curve to work.
My local hospital had one person with it and then a suspected case.
They put the suspected case in a dormitory and now the whole dormitory is in isolation.
WTF is wrong with these people. Infectious disease - isolate.
I doubt we will cope unless there is rapid action and guidance from government.
Keep safe everyone.

frumpety · 16/03/2020 07:22

If people are only going to be tested if they are in hospital and people are not sent to hospital but die, will they be excluded from the figures ?

RedToothBrush · 16/03/2020 07:23

Incidentally friend who is a teacher last night said her school had sent out an email yesterday to all saying that any child who had health issues or had a parent who had a condition which put them in a vulnerable group they could stay off school.

I've not received anything similar from my sons school (different local authority). But if they are doing it in the neighbouring county if there are people in this situation and trying to work out what to do just keep kids off.

DS is going in today. DH thinks he should. I'll stick it out this week I suspect but if we aren't done by Friday, me and DH are set for a big row.

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 07:24

Dh will stop this week I reckon but we’re at arguing about it already.

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 07:25

@mrshoho I'm glad piers is voicing what we all think. X

Youngatheart00 · 16/03/2020 07:26

Terrible nights sleep for me. Unsettled and crazy stressful dreams. Woke up to the news that LA, Vegas and NY in lockdown, insane. And we now get a daily briefing (slow clap....)

Got to commute into the City shortly but going in late to (semi) avoid the rush hour. I get the importance of the City to the global economy but it does feel like companies there are very slow to allow mass wfh, even though we are all equipped.

Does anyone know the timings of a) cobra and b) the daily briefing?

MitebiteonFrightNite · 16/03/2020 07:27

This has probably already been posted but I'm finding it hard to keep up. It looks like we WILL get daily briefings from Boris now, which is a big improvement. I haven't fully read the rest of it with my sleepy eyes yet.

Does anyone know the timings of a) cobra and b) the daily briefing?

Yes. Too fucking late.

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 07:32

What do you say to someone who is still so blasé it’s just flu, stop it?

I haven’t got the words to make him listen

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 07:32

Quick question, if say for example I came down with a new cough / cold would ds still be able to go to school?
Obviously if he was not symptomatic of course.

(He has autism & learning difficulties and my only respite is him going to school and he needs the routine until we are told otherwise, so I would still continue to send him to school unless of course he became ill or the schools closed) whether people agree with me or not. Would make no sense to me to keep him off if he wasn't at all ill within himself if that makes sense?

Is it single self isolation or whole family? That's all I need to know,

If need be, Dh could leave work to take him to school and pick him up for me so I didn't have to leave the house and come into contact with anyone.^^

I'm not I'll just yet, but I've woke up with a heavy chest and head and usually follows with cough / cold, so just want to prepare.

Thanks x

AvocadoOwl · 16/03/2020 07:33

Current advice is that only the person with symptoms must isolate.

MitebiteonFrightNite · 16/03/2020 07:33

Boris doesn't seem to like doing things in the morning, so I assume we'll all be left waiting until 5pm again. I doubt the daily briefing will come before the confirmed cases announcement, which is getting later and later. Should be at 2pm but never is!

I'm sure COBRAs held by PMs past were first thing in the morning?!

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 07:34

I'll just add incase it wasn't clear in my last post. Ds wouldn't be going to school with any kind of symptom, I'm wondering if it was the parent that had any symptom. Would the child still attend school?

Thank you @AvocadoOwl x

whataballbag · 16/03/2020 07:35

Must admit, I've been trying to bury my head in the sand about this.

I have severe health anxiety and have been in a bit of denial.

What do I do? How do I keep my family safe. I've pulled toddler DS out of nursery and DS1 out of school.

Comenext · 16/03/2020 07:37

I am 72 and in good health atm. Going to my last Pilates session today to say cheerio to all my friends there. Not sure about Yoga class on Wednesday. Already stopped going to swimming at a local spa/gym.
So now my life is on hold for the foreseeable future.
I am in a better situation than a lot of others I have read about on Mumsnet but it has still hit home pretty hard. Husband has been told to work from home. He is in his 60s and has a few health issues too.
DD1 is working in retail and lives at home, DD2 is home from Uni and studying for finals but has been told she can only go back if she has an exam.

We will all get through this I know but at the moment it looks as if it will be a very long four months.
