Bond star Olga Kurylenko 'locked up at home' with coronavirus t.co/kaCtc5d2Vq

I think anyone who is mid-extension building is going to regret that soon. They’ll stop going in.

@MarshaBradyo
yes I think that may be the case. But if you were due to start today - would you still have gone ahead?! Skip has just arrived. Will probably still be here next year Confused

This was sent to me by a GP friend:
Medical Advice: Avoid IBUPROFEN. LINKED TO YOUNG ADULTS WITH COVID:

Best to avoid anti inflammatory meds (NSAIDS) for the next few months (ibuprofen, naproxen, neurofen)

This info coming out of France and Ireland:

on the back of France's comments on NSAIDS in Covid-19. Head of infectious diseases at Cork University Hospital has just issued a statement to doctors confirming they have 4 young people in serious condition with Covid with no previous med history. Only common link is that they were all on NSAIDS for sports injuries. Mechanism of toxicity unknown but may be associated with an hemorrhagic pulmonary oedema. Worth avoiding if possible!”

I've caught my toddler's cough so am self isolating. I'm also a teacher - they seem to be supportive even though it's a nightmare for them.
My toddler was quite poorly for a few days before the cough came out but that was it
I feel pretty bad even though I only cough occasionally and my temperature is very variable and only goes up to 37.6 - but I normally run at 36.4 so it's definitely up for me.
My chest feels right and heavy as if I've got a chest infection, but it's not triggering the cough reflex very often, and I feel completely drained.
So it's probably just a cough, but who knows??

anothernamereally · 16/03/2020 09:26

When I phoned mine off school this morning with new coughs that have developed over the weekend they asked if I could call again tomorrow if they were still going to be off - does no one watch the news?

ginandnappies · 16/03/2020 09:26

It's stepped up a notch today! I've heard all schools etc closed from next week for 4 months but that's just hearsay I imagine. My work have asked me to let them know what I'll do if it happens. Does anyone know if you still get paid? I can't afford this :(

colouringinpro · 16/03/2020 09:27

Alka I sympathise. My ds came down with symptoms yesterday morning. I'm not shutting him in his room. So me and dd are self-isolating too. Wish I could get him tested as I'm not certain it is CV

CarrotVan · 16/03/2020 09:27

Does anyone know when Cobra meets and when the daily press conference is on?

woodencoffeetable · 16/03/2020 09:28

we were supposed to get new floors and new windows after easter.

will wait until after easter and re-asses the situation then.
floor is more important tbh, currently original 100yo original parquet. poor downstairs neighbous.

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/03/2020 09:32

Where did you hear that @ginandnappies?
I’m guessing it’s not true and a confusion over what was said about NI schools.

ginandnappies · 16/03/2020 09:33

Just someone at work which is why I'm sure it's not true, but not helping my anxiety haha.

mamapants · 16/03/2020 09:34

I work in HR and am pretty sure I overheard the higher ups saying people would need to make childcare arrangements or take holiday /unpaid leave.

colouringinpro · 16/03/2020 09:34

Medical experts on BBC breakfast advising whole households to isolate if a family member has symptoms.

thanks waspfig that's helpful to know

SistemaAddict · 16/03/2020 09:37

Morning all. I've pulled all dc out of school today. Dd is coughing and snotty. I'm still not feeling great. My chest continues to be tight despite doubling my preventer inhaler dose. Just an occasional cough, head and throat still ache/hurt.

picklemewalnuts · 16/03/2020 09:41

Can I offer some unmumsnetty hugs all round? You can't get germs from virtual hugs so it's safe!

These are scary times. Today I found a post on a UK friend's timeline from Jan 29th. She'd bought hand gel and masks and posted a picture of a bowl of soup and veg with a bat floating in it- I didn't understand .
She was aware so much earlier than me.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 16/03/2020 09:44

And this is why we are in for a world of pain in this country. Where do the bosses think this magical childcare is coming from? How do bosses think anyone will pay there bills?

We are zombie walking into a medical and economic crisis due to the inaction of our government.

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 09:45

@Mittens030869 That's great news, I've been thinking about you after yesterday. It's so awful that they're not testing 😢

woodencoffeetable · 16/03/2020 09:47

there needs to be more clear guidance from government that people can show their employers.

are the unions working on information packages?

Where did you hear this please?

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 09:53

Dd2 off today with fever, tight chest, sore throat and aches. Is isolating in her room as much as she can.
I've got all of the above except fever. Called boss,) he said to try and go in later (to care home).
Called school, dd1 should go in as normal. So she has.
None of the above tallies up does it? It's makes no sense and that's because there is no leadership and the advice is contradictory when you try and put it into practice.

SansaSnark · 16/03/2020 09:55

There's apparently a petition about the testing of NHS staff doing the rounds. It's mentioned on the guardian live blog without a link Hmm If anyone has a link then it would be a good thing to share and get signed.

Number12 · 16/03/2020 09:56

Murray that's insane, different set of rules for everyone. There's no containing or slowing it down.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 09:56

Mass panic buying in the shops.

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/03/2020 09:57

I think this is why a complete lockdown situation works. Everyone knows where they stand. No arguments from bosses or schools.
