Anyone else heard incubation is actually 24 days?

Rocketmam · 09/03/2020 11:34

Parliament closing down is our criteria for pulling dc out of school.

Dh is a huge introvert who works from home and I am a fellow aspie (as are both dc, NHS diagnosed) so complete isolation is really no bother to any of us. If anything we prefer it!

Babyfairy0923 · 09/03/2020 11:34

Up to 24

alloutoffucks · 09/03/2020 11:35

@MrsStrangerThing A lot of people are believing what is being said on TV that generally it is just like a cold, except for people at deaths door already. A lot of the "public reassurance" is actually minimisation. Some people believe it and put themselves in risky situations.

DressingGownofDoom · 09/03/2020 11:35

I don't think closing parliament while we all go out and about getting infected would be a good move for the Govt

@MrsStrangerThing I have been listening to radio Ulster this morning too. Looking forward to Talkback, William Crawley always has the best guests on.

ofwarren · 09/03/2020 11:36

I think that's why we don't mind #rocketmam 🙈
Fellow aspie, with teenage aspie son

alloutoffucks · 09/03/2020 11:36

I think there will be a lot of public unhappiness if Parliament closes down. While they keep saying all we need to do is wash our hands and it is nothing to worry about.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 09/03/2020 11:37

If parliament closes down surely this will cause civil unrest from some? It's all a bit I'm alright Jack for a lot of people to stomach.

I work in HE as does DH, both student facing. Our toddler is in childcare fulltime. Our work are following the PHE advice to the letter. No deviating from it at all. This will concern me greatly if parliament closes.

A case of coronavirus has been confirmed in a person at the University of West Scotland in Hamilton

I don't think they are joking Captain ... I'm obviously not cynical enough yet because I am still surprised by how arrogant, stupid & fucking selfish people are in general.

I've kept mine off and I'm glad.
Was convinced they would close schools as all other countries have.
They have even set something up to remov e 'mis information '
Why would they need to focus on that at this time
With this situation i t is so hard to judge risk. We obviously don't have accurate figures. Effectively they are weeks behind and only ill or returnees so a small %

If the gov are wrong about the death rate - doesn't bear thinking about it.

michaelbaubles · 09/03/2020 11:41

A friend who works in Qatar just messaged me to say all schools there have now been closed.

usernameishistory · 09/03/2020 11:42

Up to 24 days incubation? No, haven't seen that anywhere.

Where have you seen/heard that @Babyfairy0923 ?

OP posts:
MrsStrangerThing · 09/03/2020 11:43

DressingGown, the virologist interviewed seemed pretty laid back about it all I thought?

seasmize · 09/03/2020 11:43

Most of the so-called “misinformation” is coming from the government, IMO.

So much minimisation to keep the economy afloat.

Horehound · 09/03/2020 11:43

How come the UK numbers have only increased by 2?

Delatron · 09/03/2020 11:44

I think we’ve seen lots of minimising. People are still (even GPs) saying that it will be like a cold for 80% of people.
We have the information and facts out there that if that of the 80% ‘mild’ cases 40% will have pneumonia. That is not mild.

Babyfairy0923 · 09/03/2020 11:44

My Auntie is a nurse & she’s just heard- it’s obviously not official but she would know, she works at a private hospital. I will find out her source.

usernameishistory · 09/03/2020 11:45

wheresmymojo. Have you been following updates on the small business situation? Its been in the news and clear pp on here too.

peridito · 09/03/2020 11:45

We have not yet reached 50% of daily rate for testing

Dr Jenny Harries Deputy Chief Medical Officer Public Health England
from Coronavirus Committee . talking about role of PHE and their resources ,eg laboratories.

Earlier she referred to 2,000 tests per day being the max that could be done ,going up to ( from memory from 13 March to c3,500 ) .

So I'm guessing there is a greater facility to test than there are tests available . Is that other people's understanding ?

Have we decided on the next thread title?

Maybe

Covid19 Chat-18-warning: includes worse case scenarios, may cause anxiety

Im sure we can come up with better than that though.

usernameishistory · 09/03/2020 11:47

Its open, sorry!

I have included WHO advice on managing covid19 related stress, including for children.

Really hoping that helps any suffering in any way.

MissPoldark · 09/03/2020 11:48

It’s up to 24 days in a small minority of cases. Most cases average about 5 days to symptom onset I think. It’s on worldometer.
