Aldi completely decimated, lady who works there semi joked about having more customers than stock.

APurpleSquirrel · 14/03/2020 16:21

In large Sainsbury's this morning - usual shortages of pasta, loo roll, flour, UHT milk.
Now also mayo, tinned soup, olive oil, packet rice, tinned toms, pasta sauce, and, bizarrely, tonic water???!!!

mindproject · 14/03/2020 17:30

Hopefully people have got their stores now and the shops can recover from the onslaught.

Kmx123 · 14/03/2020 17:47

Jennywasafriendofminee · 14/03/2020 17:48

No chicken, diced or minced beef, pork in Asda, Lidl or Aldi last night at 6pm

champagneandfromage50 · 14/03/2020 18:45

wine is getting low at my local large sainsburys.....i am grateful that I have a corner shop that is well stocked and a vintners and a majestic a short drive away.....not running out of my wine

AuntieStella · 14/03/2020 18:50

Did a normal weekend shop in a big Sainsbury's.

Italian wine had quite big gaps on the shelves. As did tonic water. But other booze and mixers were as normal.

But the rest of the shop was as if there had been locusts through. No chicken, low on other meat, no eggs, empty freezers, very little milk, very little pasta, no tinned pulses, next to no butter, very little sliced bread, no crispbread, low on crisps and nibbles, cash machine closed.

sewingsinger · 14/03/2020 18:51

I was in Costco yesterday arrived about 12:30. No beef mince, no chicken breasts, no part baked bread, no eggs, no pasta, laundry detergent area very depleted. They were limiting large bags of Thai rice and water. The loo roll section seem to have a large number of people in it, not sure if they had any. They had everything I needed though because thanks to the lovely preppers on this thread, I am prepared. They had sign on the door saying toilet roll delivery at 7pm.

Local Waitrose today ok except toilet paper and pasta.

I heard on the radio today that the government have relaxed delivery schedules so supermarkets can take deliveries 24/7.

Alicatz66 · 14/03/2020 19:04

Christ .. I hope pain killers don't run out .. I had a hysterectomy on Monday !!

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 20:30

They shops are saying get there as they open and get there fast!

HisBetterHalf · 14/03/2020 20:35

common sense

mypoorfurbaby · 14/03/2020 20:57

Cat food - only two boxes in the savacentre.

LemonFrenzy · 14/03/2020 23:03

sewing you must've been in my local Costco as it had the same 7pm sign above the loo rolls too! Lots of spaces on shelves. So weird for a big warehouse. Everyone was looking at everyone else's trollies to see if they were missing something good!

Lordfrontpaw · 15/03/2020 07:44

Just had a look to see when Waitrose could do a delivery - 2 March Shock (this year I assume)

Atalune · 15/03/2020 10:46

My local Tesco was like Christmas as soon as it opened people going mad.

torthecatlady · 15/03/2020 11:51

Only two things missing from our Ocado shop this morning - frozen green beans and frozen fine green beans...
although I didn't order toilet paper, bleach etc.

Dailyjunglegrind · 15/03/2020 14:04

Our local large sainsburys had empty freezers .. not a single bag of frozen vege in sight nor oven fries. It is horrendous shopping .. thanks Boris!

Sofacat · 15/03/2020 17:09

No peanut butter in our sainsbury.

Lordfrontpaw · 15/03/2020 17:10

See dolls - I just saw a headline that the Chinese factories are closed. That made me laugh.

Lordfrontpaw · 15/03/2020 17:10

Sex dolls! My autocorrect is being coy...

whatnow40 · 15/03/2020 17:59

There was no mince beef in ASDA today, and biscuits running low. Tuna was also very low.

BrieAndChilli · 15/03/2020 18:15

I popped out to get some beef for a roast earlier - our local Supermarket was out of or very low on
All toilet roll and kitchen roll, oil, beans/tomatoes, cereal, biscuits, rice, pasta, tinned fruit and veg,

Lynda07 · 15/03/2020 18:17

Heinz tomato soup. My son said Tesco had none at all. I gave him a couple of tins and - hopefully - will have two more delivered to me with groceries tomorrow.

Bubble bath is also apparently in short supply.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/03/2020 18:21

@Lynda07 if you've got a poundland near you they were doing 4 packs for £2 today, they have lots of food in.

Lynda07 · 15/03/2020 18:29

Thanks for that, I'll tell son but not sure if he is going out at the moment, I think he has another week of self isolating and anyway I gave him some.

I'm not out of the soup yet but having groceries delivered so not bothered. There are other things we can eat.
