So at the moment it's hand sanitiser, handwash and toilet rolls. What's next ?

Lidls is fresh out of Lemon Drizzle Cake Shock

ThatLibraryMiss · 09/03/2020 18:36

Look at my beautiful sourdough! I make it about once a week. I have a lively starter, a wood pulp banneton and a bread cloche. But they'll be idle this week, because some fucker's bought all the bread flour.

Oooooooo. Looks yum.

Carrie7469 · 09/03/2020 18:49

Poundshop.comHas 70% alcohol antibacterial hand gel available to buy online. 100ml for £2. Max 2 bottles per customer. Post and packing about £5 but obviously you can buy other stuff too

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 09/03/2020 19:24

I went through drawers, cupboards and handbags today and found at least 10 packs of paracetamol, Anadin and Nurofen! Must have had an inherent stasher gene within me!

LoonyLunaLoo · 09/03/2020 19:42

Our ALDI had everything except hand gel. I was disappointed not to see any panic buying either 😂. I did stock up on a few tins and freezer bits but didn’t go mad. DH thinks I’m an idiot for buying long life milk but I only bought 2 cartons. We should have enough to get us through a few days if 1. Panic buyers empty the shops or 2. We actually get stuck in the house.

Thanks, could only order 1 sanitiser now from Poundshop maybe they are running out , I also bought 6 bars of Rittersport chocolate to make it more worth the postageSmile

swapsicles · 09/03/2020 20:48

Branston beans in my local asda.
DD will have to go without, fussy so and so!

stella1know · 09/03/2020 22:45

Well, obviously next to run out is anything Italian, Modena was mentioned above but now even more items from the rest of the country. I also suspect SpaIn will be next to have to restrict people being out-and-about :(

TimeToGetMeBack · 09/03/2020 22:50

Aldi tonight had nothing frozen!

okiedokieme · 09/03/2020 22:53

Yeast and bread flour has sold out here, all the 10kg rice is gone (lots of small packets still) pretty annoying as I bake my own bread

stella1know · 09/03/2020 23:25

I just put in an order for bar soap because this liquid stuff is drying my skin out. And is sold out here. Dont need sanitizer as I am not going out so much and just wash my hands and clean the door handles too.

Absa · 09/03/2020 23:34

I work as a respiratory nurse, we are unable to get hold of any face masks because they're sold out everywhere!

Baaaahhhhh · 10/03/2020 10:02

Just remember, that even in Italy, although the word "lockdown" is being used, people are still going to work, and food shops are still open. I think people are getting the wrong idea from use of the word, it sounds like you will be stuck in the house for 2 weeks, you actually won't, and you will still be able to go out and get bread and milk and fresh food.

Barney60 · 10/03/2020 10:05

paracetamols here, shelves cleared after 30 mins of being filled up!

stella1know · 10/03/2020 10:12

People queing at Aldis across Germany to get disinfectant spray. Of course they were sold out in minutes despite restrictions. Hopefully the pharmacies are saving some for immune-deficient patients. rp-online.de/nrw/panorama/coronavirus-in-nrw-aldi-verkauft-desinfektionsmittel-lange-warteschlange_aid-49441789

OldEvilOwl · 10/03/2020 11:36

Re the vegetable oil. Maybe they are buying big sacks of potatoes which will last and need the oil to make chips?

ralfeesmum · 10/03/2020 11:51

Those HUGE multipacks of crisps. Junk food junkies make sure they always get their diet priorities right......

ShortyShortLegs · 10/03/2020 12:18

I can't understand how people can afford to stock up on all these extras??
Our local Morrison's has been low on fresh meat for the last couple of weeks, but I did an online shop at Tesco on Sunday (only one slot available, usually plenty) and only had three changes...different shape pasta, no carbonara sauce and my toilet roll changed to two smaller packs (usually buy 24 rolls to last a month or so as we are a household of six).

My daughter went on a college trip to Florence, visited all of the 'dodgy' areas, came back in the 14th February so we've been a bit concerned but still not panic buying!

Lovemusic33 · 10/03/2020 12:41

I’m a self employed support worker and can’t get hand gel anywhere (I need it for work).

I think the more the press say “don’t stock pile” the more people will stock pile.

To be fair, if we are to go into lock down like Italy we may not be able to get out to get food (though must of us will), some people rely on public transport to get to a supermarket, some of us don’t live within 5 miles of a shop, some of us could be stuck at home with kids or stuck at home because we are infectious? Some people may not have relatives to bring them food supplies?

I’m a single parent, if one of us becomes ill then I’m stuck, I live almost 10 miles from a major supermarket, I usually do a online shop but this will soon become booked up if people are restricted and isolated.

So far I haven’t been out panic buying, I keep enough of most things to last a couple weeks as we often get stuck due to flooding so it’s normal to have 2 weeks worth of toilet roll.

I’m sure as we move into the new phase people could start panicking even more and supermarkets will become a nightmare.

Riv12345 · 10/03/2020 12:48

My patience !!!!

That's what's going to run out with everyone panic buying

Lordfrontpaw · 10/03/2020 15:49

Cereal and instant noodles... mark my words.

HerRoyalNotness · 10/03/2020 15:53

Instant noodles except the shrimp/lime flavour. As evidenced by the last time we had a rush on basic supplies where I live

I bought 20 packets (assorted flavours) 2 weeks ago

nagynolonger · 10/03/2020 16:05

Missed out on the last loo rolls last night at Asda. Some woman grabbed the last two packs. I did get the last pack of Albert Bartlett frozen chips and there is still plenty of wine and chocolate.

We have two loo roll factories within a few miles. What the hell is wrong with people? Are spiv types buying it all up in the hope of making money?
