So at the moment it's hand sanitiser, handwash and toilet rolls. What's next ?

Empty shelves in Sainsbury's earlier for soup, disinfectant, pasta, paracetamol, cold and flu tablets, hand soap and toilet rolls.

LadyCoronaDeVirus · 07/03/2020 18:32

Batteries? If you have to self isolate it's surprising how many things have batteries that could run out.

Twitney · 07/03/2020 18:32

Yeah no painkillers anywhere near me except the £5 a pack variety!

caulkheaded · 07/03/2020 18:34

I thought shelves were very empty of sanpro when in shops today.

WanderingMilly · 07/03/2020 18:35

The more the panic buying is talked about, the more people will go and buy. I live in the countryside with a tiny Tesco at the local market town. Up until now it has been stocked as normal as no-one out here has thought that coronavirus might reach this god-forsaken outpost.

But now everyone has been talking about stockpiling and lo and behold! our Tesco has run out of toilet roll, pasta (every kind), rice, all cleaning products, hand wash and sanitisers and now bread and frozen foods are flying off the shelves.
Basically anything that can be stored will be snapped up. All tinned foods next, and everything frozen, I would guess....

Hand cream, once the hand washing effects kick in!

Spacie · 07/03/2020 18:37

Hand cream - if people are actually using all that sanitiser Hmm

AllPointsNorth · 07/03/2020 18:38

I live in a very posh area. We are out of quinoa, almond and coconut milk as well as the common stuff like pasta.

Ohffs66 · 07/03/2020 18:38

Our Tesco petrol station is closed 'due to unforseen circumstances".Sainsbury's had no unleaded petrol at all yesterday, and a friend in a nearby town had trouble getting diesel. I am suspicious....

Spacie · 07/03/2020 18:38

Great minds Grin

CakeAndGin · 07/03/2020 18:39

No hand wash, hand sanitiser, toilet roll, pasta, paracetamol in Tesco today. Low stock on rice, porridge oats, Diet Coke, bleach, antibacterial wipes. Bigger dents than usual in long life milk, tinned fruit, tinned tomatoes, baked beans, cereals, biscuits, yeast, flour, sugar and eggs. Surprisingly still loads of tinned soup though - if I’m worried about getting sick, that would be the main thing for me to stock up on. Isn’t it the rule that if you’re sick you have tomato soup, scotch broth, chicken soup or mushroom soup?

Sadly, very little in the food bank box.

Low on chocolate but I read somewhere that isn’t a result of coronavirus.

anappleadaykeeps · 07/03/2020 18:41

Red wine, Premium dark chocolate and Probiotic supplements.

JellyfishandShells · 07/03/2020 18:41

Woman next to me in Tescos today bought every single pack of pressed dates on the shelf. Who knows why ..........

Ilikewinter · 07/03/2020 18:41

Baby milk....surprised no one has mentioned it yet. We hardly sell any in the shop i work in but yesterday i had 3 customers who had 4 tubs each (the amount we can fit on the shelf) and they asked for more.

tinytemper66 · 07/03/2020 18:43

I made sure I put things in the food bank today that could be made with a kettle.

MitziK · 07/03/2020 18:43

Baby milk and cat food.

AdaColeman · 07/03/2020 18:44

Sugar, coffee and breakfast cereal will soon be snapped up.

cologne4711 · 07/03/2020 18:45

I'm not listing it on here, because people will go out and buy it! I went into town yesterday and bought two lots of the item because I thought it might be the next panic buying objective. Not been mentioned on this thread though.

Pity if coconut milk is becoming a shortage item though, as I need that for curry.

Carrie7469 · 07/03/2020 18:46

Why cat food?

AJPTaylor · 07/03/2020 18:46

Anything that is listed on internet threads as the next thing to run.
Ffs it makes you despair. I often wonder how my generation and below would have coped in a war......I think we are finding out.

cologne4711 · 07/03/2020 18:46

I have loads of coffee and cereal, not much good without milk though.

carlywurly · 07/03/2020 18:47

I got a few bits today but nothing more than the usual. Special display of toilet roll in our local Wilko. Picked up paracetamol in boots.

Tesco was like a plague of locusts had ravaged it.

I might make sure I'm not low on anything but the extent some people are panic buying is crazy. And selfish.

gamerwidow · 07/03/2020 18:50

I would like to think that people would stop behaving like a bunch of twats and we won't see any more shortages but realistically it'll probably be pasta and paracetamol.

multivac · 07/03/2020 18:53

Pot Noodles round here. Nothing else. Mental.

gamerwidow · 07/03/2020 18:53

I'm not listing it on here, because people will go out and buy it!
We should probably start threads worrying about the shortage of the most stupid items. I'm worrying about an V.I.Poo and anchovy shortage how about everyone else.
