So at the moment it's hand sanitiser, handwash and toilet rolls. What's next ?

I feel really cheesed off with the panic buying of baby:child stuff. If my children were young and in nappies I would be worried.

I’ve been buying for months now
Paracetamol
Calpol
Ibuprofen
Persil
Pasta
Bread items
Tins of soups
Easy ready meals
Bleach
Anti bac wipes

I’ve got a freezer full of meat and bread.

I have been Brexit prepping for a long time and have told my close friends and family we can all share. I’m quite upset at the panic and frenzy in the shops.

Peppers - rushes off to Ocado to get the last 5kg. And peppercorns cos I overheard somebody on the internet. Wink

Screamqueenz · 07/03/2020 19:44

No shortage of any kind that I noticed out shopping today.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 07/03/2020 19:44

@Icouldhavebeenacontender - I predict that there will be an increase in the birth rate about 9/10/11 months from now!!!

underneaththeash · 07/03/2020 19:45

In Sainsbury's in Beaconsfield there was no chickpeas or quinoa on Thursday.....

vera99 · 07/03/2020 19:47

@Atalune - you 'panicked' first the latter-day panickers are only following the logic of your long term decision albeit late in the day. Why should one be upset once panic buying sets in then the logical thing is to panic as well or be left with nothing.

jasjas1973 · 07/03/2020 19:47

To answer the OP...... Coffins and Crematoria space.

QuinoaWest · 07/03/2020 19:48

Constipation remedies, surely?

(From all that bloody pasta and rice everyone'll be working their way through).

Atalune · 07/03/2020 19:48

vera

I haven’t panicked. I bought one or two extra things each week. One for us as normal. One for the stash and one for the food bank. For MONTHS. There has been no panic here.

ElaineKM · 07/03/2020 19:53

Why stock up at all? It is so selfish. Surely if you need to self isolate you can have anything you need delivered to the door. By buying up all of the hand sanitiser people are indirectly contributing to the spread of Covid as they are causing a shortage. I went to buy 2 bottles yesterday for myself and my daughter and there was none on the shelf in my Morrisons, therefore we have no way of sanitising our hands when out.

I don't see the point in toilet roll obsession. Flannels can be used and washed

In the nicest possible way. Not everybody has clean and streamlined textbook poos. You can't use a flannel if you need to poo at work, so you might want to carry a loo roll with you if there is a national shortage.
And I know there are people who could not possibly poo anywhere except their own home. My dh can wait till he gets home. Bully for him. But there are an equal number of us who have to go when they have to go, and that could be more than twice a day as opposed to some folk who go twice a week at their own convenience (See what I did there?)

Running out of TP may be of little concern to those with tidy and biddable bowels. For those of us who haven't, the prospect of leaving the house without the reassurance that there will be available loo roll means that we have to carry it with us. Rather that than a damp flannel in a plastic bag which might be required for multiple usage. That is why some folk worry about the availability of TP.

I buy my toilet paper from the "Who gives a crap" organisation which has been mentioned a few times in this thread. So I'm paying over the odds and I'm not emptying the shelves in Sainsbury's.

I'm really fed up with people who suggest you can just use a damp flannel at your regular 6am regular tidy poo and you know the next one won't be till tomorrow at 6am and it will be just as tidy.

I have bowel envy.

I'm in London and Savers and Lidl had huge queues at 10am - never seen that before at that time! Lots and lots of people buying toilet roll. I bought a Groupon deal a year ago and still have 2 years worth go go through Grin

Plenty of stock of pasta, rice and paracetomal available although I did note quite a few people with baskets full of rice and pasta. Seeing them all made me feel like I should stock up (but didn't).

I generally don't take paracetomal when I have a fever so I am hoping if I do get coronovirus I still won't need it.

LameSword · 07/03/2020 19:55

There weren't many cheesecakes in M&S this afternoon. Not sure how I'll cope if people start panic buying cheesecakes 😱

Walnutwhipster · 07/03/2020 19:57

Pregnancy tests soon...

ginandnappies · 07/03/2020 19:57

Hopefully nothing my elderly neighbour needs! Selfish people buying 20+ hand soaps and toilet roll and pasta and paracetamol and bleach blah blah blah. Some people can't either afford to buy in bulk or have the options too so just bloody stop it! I went to 3 shops today to try find my neighbour some kitchen roll amongst other things that people seem to buying in bulk just now. It's an absolute joke, I know it's not just the flu or whatever but it's seriously beyond a joke.

FromEden · 07/03/2020 19:57

Mince is wiped out at my local costco.

MarieQueenofScots · 07/03/2020 19:57

Only hand sanitizer out of stock here.

Everything else as normal.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/03/2020 19:58

Blimey Typing poor you. I can’t imagine needing to poo at inconvenient times, only at home.

FallonSwift · 07/03/2020 19:59

Morrisons was almost out of liquid hand soap. Bar soap was also quite sparse. Everything else, including loo roll was OK.

I've done some batch cooking today to fill the freezer, just in case we end up having to self-isolate. We both travel a lot for work so there is a reasonable chance one of us could end up in contact with someone who is infected.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 07/03/2020 20:00

Our local Morrison’s was out of value biscuits. So if you want a digestive to see you through the apocalypse you’re basically buggered.

Hellman’s squidgy low fat mayonnaise was also unavailable.

Joans3rddaughter · 07/03/2020 20:02

Medication to resolve crippling diarrhoea that all those buying obscene amounts of toilet roll must be suffering from.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/03/2020 20:05

Yesterday it was dried pasta in the local Asda. Shelves completely empty. And long life milk.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 07/03/2020 20:05

Has anyone mentioned Dettol?

bellinisurge · 07/03/2020 20:05

You got enough toilet roll for when you are required to self isolate?
I've got everything I need. Have had for months because I'm a general prepper and don't need to panic buy. Did all my buying months ago. Bit by bit. As my budget allowed.

KilljoysDutch · 07/03/2020 20:05

Low sugar cereal according to the rat owner groups, people are struggling to get their hands on them to make food mixes.
