Previous thread here.

We are using Worldometer, BDO and Dr John Campbell videos as part of the discussions.

I wish they would a least start temp checking people at schools and nurseries etc. If fever is so often the first sign then anyone with a temperature should be told to go home.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 05/03/2020 14:42

Confused as to the reason for the delay. Is it because of the 24h hiatus, or is that just for the precise locations

Could simply be a website problem. It wouldn’t be the first time there were glitches with it (although it’s less loathesome than it used to be).

Ledkr · 05/03/2020 14:45

Yes he's been fine touch wood. He had low kidney function from birth but didn't start dialysis until he was 26 and had 8%function. He had the transplant at 29.

I love the races and usually go or at least go into town but I think it's a huge risk increase allowing all these extra people in from all over

This Q&A is really interesting and answers a lot of questions about what is happening and why

No it's ok, not that many. It's 0.0051% not 0.51% I thought the calculation was 85/16,659*100 which makes 0.51023

HRH2020 · 05/03/2020 14:47

Daily mail has reported that HSBC in Canary Wharf has been evacuated after worker tests positive. Sorry can't do links from my phone.

Hugglespuffed · 05/03/2020 14:47

I've a friend who returned from some travelling in Asia today (been there a few months) and they said that there were literally no checks at all on return to the london airport (apologies I don't know which one).
No questions asked, no temps being taken at all.

yolofish · 05/03/2020 14:49

Checking in. At least two big sponsors have withdrawn from Crufts.

I feel that all the coverage of moving onto the next phase delay is to soften up people for a known rise in numbers. The psychology of this is important as people need to cooperate, not panic. That will influence outcomes. We are being manipulated in a way, but probably for well studied reasons.

MinkowskisButterfly · 05/03/2020 14:50

@Hrh2020 I believe one floor has been closed for deep cleaning, 1 staff member pos for covid other than that business as usual there

AvocadoOwl · 05/03/2020 14:50

Agreed @FaisPasCiFaisPasCa

justchecking1 · 05/03/2020 14:51

Yes, you are right it is. It's just 300,000 plus seemed way too many so I thought you must have been out by x100.

Then I worked it out for myself and realised 300,000 from those figures was the right number, but that seemed terrifying so I left it and hoped no one would notice. Ssssssh 😂😂

KenAdams · 05/03/2020 14:51

I think so too @FaisPasCiFaisPasCa

onalongsabbatical · 05/03/2020 14:55

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa I agree with this. Some very careful orchestration going on behind the scenes, they have to manage the risks of riot and panic.
We're all vulnerable to panic - I've just shouted at my DH because he's ranting about something and we're 2 of the least shouty people on the planet (really!). I'm on utter tenterhooks for the bloody figures to come out.

ofwarren · 05/03/2020 14:55

NEW: Netherlands reports 44 new cases of coronavirus, taking country's total to 82 t.co/eUoE2b20hL

@cjt110
People going to work as normal, but no school.
You have to self quarantine at home for 14 days when you enter China, even if you have no symptoms and have not been ill. If you come from Italy, Korea. Iran or japan you cannot be quarantined at home: you go from the airport to the quarantine area.

GCAcademic · 05/03/2020 14:57

Then I worked it out for myself and realised 300,000 from those figures was the right number, but that seemed terrifying so I left it and hoped no one would notice.

But that is still 0.51 of people tested, not of the population at large. We are not randomly testing people. Testing occurs when there is a travel history combined with symptoms or else contact history that warrants it.

Cheeseontoast4 · 05/03/2020 14:58

We are being very carefully managed - may not trust the politicians ... but we can trust the scientific professionals advising them to act in all our best interests .

TokyoSushi · 05/03/2020 14:58

Thank you! I wonder if the delay is because the increase is large and it means the DofH is going to have to 'do something else' so they're preparing what else to say along with the figures?

ofwarren · 05/03/2020 14:59

8 case of #Coronavirus in #Portugal

OffTheShelfElf · 05/03/2020 15:02

This delay is really not helping my work productivity...
