@Banana0pancakes thats the image i saw too. Is it true or not x

FourTeaFallOut · 04/03/2020 17:32

Yeah, my facebook feed is full of people saying that it's only 84 out of 66 million and I sit on my hands Tring not to write that South Korea had 70 cases less than a fortnight ago and now thousands are waiting for a hospital bed. But, what's the point? Some people aren't willing to see anything that isn't right under their nose.

Wehttam · 04/03/2020 17:32

I second that felicity I’d love nothing more than to be completely wrong and actually enjoy the summer eating the 5 million tins of tuna we have.

SnoozyLou · 04/03/2020 17:32

I think they are expecting a real sharp spike in cases over the course of the week.

I think this is because they have changed their stance. Instead of self isolating people who have been in close contact with confirmed cases, the local news is reporting that they're telling them what symptoms to look out for for the next 2 weeks, but there is no mention of self isolation. I think the game plan has changed.

middleager · 04/03/2020 17:33

NOT knowing the numbers/locations is more worrying IMO than being presented with the facts.

SansaSnark · 04/03/2020 17:34

@Oakmaiden Yes, you're right, I've misunderstood. I'll ask for my last post to be deleted!

WeAllHaveWings · 04/03/2020 17:35

Confirmed case in Ayrshire is 1 mile from my house. It's in a sheltered housing complex and it has been put into lock down.

Hope it isn't someone with a carer as they could have unknowingly went onto other vulnerable clients.

From Twitter -two patients have tested positive at a London hospital , one wasn't showing symptoms. Denmark Hill.

MarshaBradyo · 04/03/2020 17:38

Denmark Hill! Close

onemouseplace · 04/03/2020 17:39

Do they mean at a hospital in Denmark Hill (i.e. Kings) or they live in Denmark Hill?

NeverSurrender · 04/03/2020 17:39

I'm trying to link but can't seem to!

It's upsetting to be called all sorts by the justflu-ists.

Just remember that just because they say things about you or others. it doesn't make it true.

Saying that, if we are as prepared practically as we can be, let's allow ourselves time to do something else for a bit. This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint so we need to keep looking after ourselves and families to be as strong as we can be, physically and mentally.

I'm thinking of a family of meerkats GrinGrinwhere we take turns to look out for what's going on whilst the rest chill in the sun, clear out the burrow or enjoy their food, or just play.

I need to take my own advice and read a book in the bath with a gin.

ofwarren · 04/03/2020 17:39

Hungary reports first 2 cases of coronavirus t.co/eUoE2b20hL

NeverSurrender · 04/03/2020 17:40

At a hospital there

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 04/03/2020 17:40

NOW the Italian schools have been closed.
How to make your govt even more of a laughing stock than it already is.
Tell the world you're closing the schools
Change your mind
Then do it again.
Hey ho.

Banana0pancakes · 04/03/2020 17:40

@Jrobhatch29 yeah its true, dh has just seen it'll be announced in the next hour whereabouts it is

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 04/03/2020 17:40

The increasing speed we are filling up threads is a good indicator of how worried we are...

furrytoebean · 04/03/2020 17:41

Can I just say as well that I have flu right now and it is HORRIFIC. I haven't got out bed for two days and I genuinely feel like my body is full of poison. When people are like 'it's just flu' have they never had flu?
If we all got flu at the same time it would be horrendous.

onemouseplace · 04/03/2020 17:41

Thanks @NeverSurrender - so at Kings or the Maudsley then.

AxisOfDick · 04/03/2020 17:42

@RunningAwaywiththeCircus
Another Birkenhead mum here, my children are in prep and they’ve been quite open with them about contingency and working from firefly. Hoping it won’t come to that. HTH

FelicityFebruary · 04/03/2020 17:42

@WeAllHaveWings that is a bad scenario indeed.

NeverSurrender · 04/03/2020 17:42

Kings College hospital apparently. Scary stuff me and my ds were just there a few days ago.

Oakmaiden · 04/03/2020 17:42

How to make your govt even more of a laughing stock than it already is.

I dunno. I just interpreted it as the matter was under discussion and that was somehow leaked and stated as fact, before the decision had actually been made.

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 04/03/2020 17:42

The Bond film title would look in very bad taste worldwide at the moment.
