@HotSince82 - I am on the Wirral too and my son is at Calday. I messaged him yesterday with the news of Hilbre closing and he replied that he already new as he was on his lunch chatting to a group of Hilbre students at the shop.

I'm hoping that the boy who's stem mum was positive remains healthy and receives a negative test. I'm sure here are a few sibling that will go to both Hilbre and Calday as they are in such close proximity to each other. DS does not want to miss any school at all as he is in Year 13 and is preparing for A levels.

Ontopofthesunset · 04/03/2020 17:02

I guess there is no need to tell us where every case is on a daily basis as if you need to be particularly concerned (you have been found by contact tracing, you child attends the same school, you work with someone) you will be contacted and told what to do. Clearly all the people on here saying that they are going to pull their children out of school etc is the reason they're not going to do it daily.

Wildthyme · 04/03/2020 17:04

@everythingthelighttouches I’d said earlier we must be out of containment i’m glad they've confirmed finally.

@ofwarren do you mind if I copy /paste your location information on the new board please?

Jrobhatch29 · 04/03/2020 17:06

The newcastle case was picked up within the uk tooSad

ofwarren · 04/03/2020 17:07

Italy reports 587 new cases of coronavirus and 28 new deaths, raising total to 3,089 cases and 107 dead t.co/eUoE2b20hL

everythingthelighttouches · 04/03/2020 17:08

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus

Sorry just to clarify. That is my opinion, based on their decision not to report locations anymore. It has not been formally announced.

Springinsight · 04/03/2020 17:09

Bloody hell

ChipotleBlessing · 04/03/2020 17:09

If the Newcastle case is in Kenton, the people who were tested had been to Vietnam.

furrytoebean · 04/03/2020 17:09

The newcastle case was picked up within the uk too

Where have you heard that?
My Ds's colleague has been asked to self isolate due to attending a party with the Newcastle case and she said it was picked up in Vietnam.

Dogwife11 · 04/03/2020 17:10

Derbyshire live are reporting 2 cases in Derbyshire

HotSince82 · 04/03/2020 17:11

RunningAwaywiththeCircus
Imo it may not be a bad idea just for a week or so until we are in possession of more facts re the spread in our area.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls my DS is younger, not in an exam year so I feel justified in keeping him off this week.
Were he in in year thirteen, like you I would take a chance.

Jrobhatch29 · 04/03/2020 17:11

It was in a local news on my facebook. It said 'picked up within the uk' but may not have been accurate x

Ciwirocks · 04/03/2020 17:12

Is anyone else just quietly accepting that there is not much else we can do now other than good hand hygiene. I just feel we will either get it or not but on a personal level we can’t completely avoid it. In someways I am feeling more relaxed about it than I was before!

Banana0pancakes · 04/03/2020 17:15

There it is. Weird phrasing though, its evidence of community transmission but also not?

I think that this will go on for months and then there’ll be a resurgence next winter. So yes, can’t really put lives on hold for that long.

I’ll be hand washing obsessively , eating well etc. But unless advises otherwise I’ll still be taking holidays.

crispycracker · 04/03/2020 17:15

"Anyone else watched/watching pandemic in explained on Netflix 😬"

I saw the reviews in papers saying it was sensationlist and fear mongeringinging so avoided...(could be wrong)

BUT.. there is the BBC Pandemic science program frm 2018 that they have added to iPlayer again. It's really fascinating and enlightening.. and spoky as hell that they ran the experiment in Haslemere where an early UK outbreak happened . It really is quite eerie how they keep saying this could happen

VivaLeBeaver · 04/03/2020 17:15

I thought people could be infectious before showing symptoms? Has that now found to not be right?

Banana0pancakes · 04/03/2020 17:15

Try attaching the image again, if not it's on the Chronicle now
