So worst case infection rate is 80%, death rate 3.4% if I understand correctly?

Spacecadetagain · 03/03/2020 18:35

@Jrobhatch29 it was one of the prem babies if I’ve read that right .

NHS England declares coronavirus a level 4 incident, the highest level of emergency - Sky News

SpencerReidsMistress · 03/03/2020 18:37

There's a few people I'd like to die

What a horrible comment to make.

SansaSnark · 03/03/2020 18:38

There are lots of cases in Italy outside the lockdown towns, and I think it's extremely unlikely that every case has been caught by testing.

I think people are far more at risk of catching Coronavirus in Northern Italy than on the tube- it's the airports they go through as well as their final destination. There's no real evidence to suggest widespread community transmission in London (yet).

Also, the Italian health system is becoming overstretched.

I hope anyone going skiing would be able to cope with quarentine + self-isolation on return!

SansaSnark · 03/03/2020 18:39

Also, bringing more cases into the UK increases the chances of community transmission.

At the moment we are (just about) containing this in the UK, but each new case coming in will increase the chances we can't contain the situation anymore.

But then equally it's on the government to make better travel recommendations.

Ijustneed · 03/03/2020 18:39

I followed the Twitter link and looked in the DoH page, but can't find any info about where the new cases are. Does anyone know? I saw something about Humberside which isn't far from me, but can't find anymore info.

ofwarren · 03/03/2020 18:40

Does anyone know when the last time the NHS called a level 4 emergency?

AbsentmindedWoman · 03/03/2020 18:41

theres a few people id like to die

@GraveShift

I suppose you think you're being edgy or daring or amusing. You're not, your remark is shitty.

GraveShift · 03/03/2020 18:41

sorry. my stomach's in knots

pedanticstyleguide · 03/03/2020 18:43

all the new cases are caught abroad, so no direct transmission

Well only direct when they caught it overseas, anyway. Does it matter whether they caught it "in the community" in the UK, or in Italy, or Singapore, or anywhere? You have to catch it from somewhere and people won't magically become less prone to passing it on when they come (back) to the UK.

pedanticstyleguide · 03/03/2020 18:45

The situation in Italy is far more progressed than the situation in the UK and so it is selfish behaviour

I disagree. And I also disagree that we don't have the cases here. They just haven't been picked up yet.

Bogoffrain · 03/03/2020 18:45

I think for the first time I’ve seen my parents as really vulnerable 😢 it’s a horrible feeling

Horehound · 03/03/2020 18:45

Someone on FB told me that this is insignificant because millions of people died from Spanish flu and this is nothing in comparison

HeIenaDove · 03/03/2020 18:46

Someone said southern Italy upthread My relatives are in Molise.

nellodee · 03/03/2020 18:47

Spanish flu had a very similar CFR and R0, from what we know. I wouldn't be taking any succour from those stats.

I new Boris Johnson wasn’t at Kettering General Hospital in the dead of night just to talk about developmental plans...

confusedandtired99 · 03/03/2020 18:52

Sorry less haste... I knew

peridito · 03/03/2020 18:52

Does anyone know whether the results from the testing going on in the 8 NHS trusts and 100 GPsurgeries are included in the numbers being quoted each day ?

Ijustneed · 03/03/2020 18:52

@ofwarren thanks.
